Then you'd have to re-toggle all your powers every single mission . . . far more annoying that the occasional inconsiderate yahoo.

So if the interior is really right there, how come we can only see out of the windows, and not in?

[/ QUOTE ]no, it's just EVERYONE has their powers on and it slows my relatively fast computer to almost a screeching halt.

I am curious as to weather we will see a level increase with this expansion. Take us to level 60.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree with the others about the 'unlikeliness' of a level cap increase. The Devs have essentially told us it will never happen and I can understand why because far too much of the game would have to be redesigned to accommodate it.

But according to the infamous Market Survey of August 2008 (which has been fairly accurate with the things it has predicted so far) the Devs are already considering an alternative idea along the lines of what Silver_Gale implied where we'd have a "virtual" level cap increase to 60 without the number itself actually increasing. The following quote describes the idea:

    [ QUOTE ]
Accomplishments will lead to rewards that will significantly distinguish level 50 characters from one another. One such reward is the Universal Enhancement Slots. Ten Universal Enhancement Slots are available to be earned in the expansion, and each one has the potential of adding significant power to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So with a system like this we'd have a new goal to play towards that would make our level 50s more powerful without actually having to change the numerical level cap value.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, expect PVP'ers to cry foul at this, what's left of them anyways. Super-powered level 50 enters PVP zone and own all the regular level 50. I don't see why the devs are so afraid to raise the level cap.

    Actually wouldn't Castle = Fortress?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Castle is a reference to the chess maneuver of Castling, rather than to the architectural structure called a Castle. Hence my forum Avatar.

I was actually looking for a term synonymous with "Discovered Attack" for the Praetorian name, but settled on "Checkmate" when I couldn't find anything suitable in the 2 minutes I allowed myself to look.

    EDIT: To add clarification:
    [ QUOTE ]
In chess, a discovered attack is an attack revealed when one piece moves out of the way of another. Discovered attacks can be extremely powerful, as the piece moved can make a threat independently of the piece it reveals. Like many chess tactics, they succeed because the opponent is unable to meet two threats at once. While typically the consequence of a discovered attack is the gain of material, they do not have to do this to be effective; the tactic can be used merely to gain a tempo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Taken from Wikipedia

[/ QUOTE ]It would be cool if "Checkmate" was the leader of a villain group called "Knight's Tour".

Costume parts are non-game-affecting. They're just cutness that you can opt to buy. If they aren't worth it to you to buy, you don't have to buy them. I like to buy them, because I'm a sucker for cuteness. Plus, I like to support the game.

[/ QUOTE ]Non game affecting for whom? If I don't like how a my character looks, or I can't get them to look the way I want them to, I don't play. Costumes are VERY game affecting for a lot of people.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I have more fun making characters then actually playing them sometimes.

Posi's pretty careful what he says in this interview, obviously he's trying to release just enough info to have us going wild with speculation.

[/ QUOTE ]I doubt that he is doing it for speculation, I bet it's just an added bonus. I say we all leave the forums to make the devs focus on the expansion and not read our posts.

I hope this new graphics engine will allow for easier creation of wireframe models and animations. So many things that have been asked for and denied ... like animals, multiple arms, huge females, etc.

It would also be nice if the wireframe/animation modeler could be extended to MA - to allow creation of our own critters.

[/ QUOTE ]We're getting a new graphics engine?

For all the complainers about the "lack of information" in the interview:

Every question posed to Positron at herocon '08 that he responded "no comment" to has become (or is in the process of becoming) reality.

CoH for Mac, Going Rogue, Color Customization, etc.

Chances are that the "no comments" are a way of not giving the competition the heads up on what's planned. It's now a competitive market. No sense in giving away all your secrets just to have someone else rush it into a competing game.

Also, City of Villains was announced in 2004... a year before it became a reality. Going Rogue should be no different. It's their way of saying, "We're finally able to do what you wanted... just stick around a bit longer."

[/ QUOTE ]That's a stupid reason. CoX people are getting paranoid by CO. The reason why anyone in a game business says "no comment" is because it is too far off to confirm and it may change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am not paranoid of CO. I don't understand why ANYONE would be.
City of Heroes has survived the likes of Prototype and InFamous... Why would CO even dent us? Really?

City of Heroes has been competing with WOW for 5 years... WOW for Christs sake...

[/ QUOTE ]Prototype and inFamous will never be direct competition and you thinking that is proof of your paranoia. CO is another superhero mmorpg for the computer. The other two games are action-adventure sandbox games on different consoles with no real long term plans for future updates excluding sequels. We have not been competing with WoW at all because we never even tried to (not a bad thing). CoX panders to the superhero and comic book fans, while WoW panders to the swords and sorcery people. They have about 12 million active accounts, while we hang on to, what, 100,000? Less? P_P, I've noticed that you believe that if you believe it in your mind, it somehow warps reality to your thought.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Keep tellin yourself that. Really, You sound far more paranoid than me. I sited two games that are DIRECT competition for CO, Prototype and InFamous. In the first Week how many units of InFamous were sold? Isn't it Sonys SECOND most sold game ever?

WoW competes with CoX everyday. This is a Fantasy game. Super Heroes with Superstrength and Fire Armor do not exist in the REAL WORLD. This isnt a SIM game. You can make Elves or Orcs in this game... Should you chose to.

I already have Prototype and Infamous, I dont need another Consol super hero game... Cept for Batman

[/ QUOTE ]You're not paranoid, you're delusional. Every single post you express this. You thinking that inFamous and Prototype are competition to CO is just laughable. Prototype isn't even a superhero game. InFamous is a urban-superhero game at best. CoH is not fantasy and we are in no way able to take on WoW if we were. CO isn't even a console game at the moment and if/when it is, it will be along the lines of Final Fantasy XI, an mmo. MMOs and regular games are two completely different markets, with two completely different market plans.

CoV wasn't even out of the door for them to think about side switching.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, they were discussing side switching in CoV Beta. They even had some plans for the redemption/corruption path to involve the descision whether or not to kill a rogue Longbow agent. Though, I am sure that has long since changed.

[/ QUOTE ]I wish I played the CoV beta more. I do remember ice brutes though.
