No, it shouldn't take 5 hours.

Good thinking there. You may have hit on the problem.
I can see how a custom login screen might affect that since it appears when you zone. It could also be that the file itself isn't corrupt but rather that there was a small change made in how it calls for those files to be loaded/displayed. Something as simple as code to stretch images to fit widescreen layouts might affect it. -
Go to https://support.cityofheroes.com and log in to your Support account (note, this is not the same as your Game Account or Master Account, although they can be set to use the same usernames and passwords).
Go to the Ask a Question tab, fill out the info there. Answers will show in the My Stuff tab.
Live Chat help is available Monday through Friday from Noon to 5PM Central time. I'm not certain but I believe Live Chat help may only be available to VIP accounts, which you would qualify for. The Live Chat is a recent addition and I've not had an opportunity to test it, especially due to the limited hours it is available being mostly while I'm at work. -
Quote:The outrage is that people keep denigrating those that do not like teaming or do not team for other reasons by trotting out the dead horse argument "it's an MMO" time and again. If teaming was required simply because it was an MMO, you'd be forced to team from the time you signed in.I have trouble understanding this perspective. The first thing I always want to point out is that when I hear points like this being made, it makes me think someone has an alternate dimension version of COH where Incarnate content dictates that you MUST BE ON TEAMS AT ALL TIMES!
I mean, look at anything in the game. If you want the WST badges/merits, you need to be on a team. If you want Task Force badges/merits/Synthetic HamiO's from Statesman and LR, you need to be on a team. If you're fresh out of vet specs and you don't want to blow any cash, you need to be on a team for a respec trial... The list goes on and on.
My point is that none of these things require anyone to always be teaming at all times, or any more often than they would like to be, really. The same could be said for Incarnate Trials. And the great thing about all of this stuff is that you can do it all if and when you feel like it.
I guess I just don't understand the outrage, like it's a completely unique concept that's totally unheard of and against the direction of the game. Certain things require teaming... And the Incarnate gate is even being lifted in Issue 22. I guess I just don't understand the source of the complaints in the first place, and I definitely don't understand why it's still being mentioned when the next update is giving you what you want.
There is no outrage on my part about the iTrials. I also don't participate in the WSTs for any reason, I don't run any TFs/SFs for any reason. I don't run respecs as I have more respecs than I'll likely ever need as it is. I teamed in the past when needed for TF's and Respec trials, but I no longer participate in team content for several reasons.
As to why it's being mentioned? Well, the OP asked what we hate about the iTrials. For me, and likely for some others, it's that it requires teaming.
No outrage about that on my part, simply answering the OP's question. -
Stick a sock in it. Your argument was dead before the game was even released. It was being touted then as being a solo and casual friendly game that didn't require you to team up with others.
Nothing in the phrase MMO denotes that teaming is required. Massively Multiplayer Online. Nope. no terms meaning "you must team". Only terms that indicate that there are other people online in the same world environment I'm in.
I talk to other players while I'm playing. Sometimes I'll stand in a mission doing nothing but talking for quite a while.
I can participate in Rikti Ship Raids, Hamidon Raids, Zombie Invasions, Rikti Invasions and similar without being on a team.
iTrials do not allow me to participate if I am not teamed. -

Just remember, you have to be a VIP to purchase the Tier 9 VIP sets.
So going Premium wouldn't help you acquire those items, in fact, it would prevent you from getting them. -
Quote:They've already considered the subject. They've given answers as you pointed out in your post. And these answers were recent answsers, not something answered years ago.CoH Devs;
Since the original thread I created is already up to 7 pages, with almost all of it in support of the subject of female mastermind minions (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=278812), would you devs please finally consider the subject?
-----------snipped-------------
The arguments against are also stated in the thread, with logical reasonings around the issues, including the sexism issue, the pimp issue, and many others that Positron brought up at both the Pummit and the SF meet and greet in 2010.

Just because you disagree with their answer doesn't mean that they haven't considered it and already answered it. -
what
NT knows me too well -- UberGuy should have been expecting it also -
what
Actually, I hate SB. It is one of the worst buffs for me. -
Aside from problems that I have with my ISP, I get no lag or DC's in game.
That said, my ISP is a wireless ISP going from an antenna on my roof to a receiver on the water tower in town. The ISP's equipment there is, how do I put this nicely, less than optimal. I frequently lose internet completely for a few minutes so when I'm having problems in game I'm also seeing dropped packets in pings to the ISP gateway. I can't blame those on the game.
I have had a few incidents when others reported having a lot of LCMS messages and I realize it's not isolated to me, but at the same time some others report no problems so I generally assume that it's due to a common point in the routing that is causing it.
As far as the game crashing? Well, I can't remember the last time it actually crashed on my desktop or laptop. I've had it crash on some computers I was using CoH as a stress test on, but that was due to hardware failures on the computer, which is what I was testing for.
I'll get a small amount of recharge slowdown for really large events like Dev invasions on WarWalkers or similar, Hami Raids (yes, I'm unteamed on those) or Rikti Ship Raids (again, playing unteamed) but that's about it. Since I don't team I don't have any experience lately on any content that requires teaming. -
Why would they need to go to Ouroboros to use an unlock token that a Primal hero had purchased with Astral Merits?

Odd. I could have sworn I posted my results here last night. Either I dreamed I posted it or I typed in the text and forgot to click Post Quick Reply. I've clicked the Go button on the Forum Jump box at the bottom of the page before instead of Post Quick Reply so I guess that's what happened.
Anyway. Both characters transferred successfully to Beta last night. For now at least, the Copy Tool is working again. -
Check your PM's.
If you are still having trouble, I'd recommend turning Ambient Occlusion to Off, Advanced Occlusion Settings to Off, Anti-Aliasing to 2X, Anisotropic Filtering to 4X, Bloom to Off, Depth of Field to Off, and World Texture Level to High just for some testing. AO can be a real resource hog and framerate killer.
Also, something odd is going on with your Shadow settings that is causing Shadow Mode to report as Unknown. Try turning on Shadows, adjust the Shadow Mode, save the changes then go back and (if you must) turn Shadows to Off. Sometimes the game acts a bit goofy with Shadows set to Off, so you may want to set it to a lower level of Shadows and leave it On. It seems odd but I've seen a few have better results with it On at the lowest setting than what they did with it Off. -
Saw a post by Arbiter Warrant in the Dev Digest that says it's working again.
Quote:And...
The Character Copy tool is back up now. Let us know on this thread if you have trouble - remember that it takes at least half an hour to complete the transfer. More if you do it from the Moon.
Arbiter Warrant
I logged onto Beta and a character I tried to copy last week before sending a PM to the OCR team had finally transferred.
I started transfers on a couple more to make sure it's doing more than just clearing the queue that had built up. Will report back in a bit after giving it time to transfer. -

In other words, it's going to work like most other Issues have in the past. They won't give us a firm date, and possibly not even an estimate.
I recall one time that a firm date was given barring major problems being found that would require a delay. The date had to be pushed back due to major problems being found. The forums were rife with posts whining about them missing the "promised" release date and ignoring the fact that major problems were found that prevented it from being released.
Hopefully they've learned from that one and will not give firm dates in the future. -
Please follow the instructions in the stickied thread by Hyperstrike called [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums

The original plan for Freedom was that Free and Premium players would have no ability to post on the forums.
Quite a few of the subscribers complained about this limitation so they adjusted the plans to give limited posting access to areas where players can ask for help such as Gameplay/Technical Issues & Bugs, Player Questions, City Life, and Suggestions and Ideas.
I think the only other forum that may need ALL ACCESS would be the Mac Users forum section.
The limitations are there partly to keep spam posts down and partly as an incentive to subscribe.
Considering that the original plan was for no posting priveleges for non-VIPs I doubt they'd be willing to accede to opening any more forum sections than what they already have. -
ALL ACCESS: Suggestions and Ideas forum section if further down the list.
