Maybe there is some confusion:
This doesn't happen in RO. This happens with Pugs. -
SoA are far outclassed by stalkers in terms of dps on teams.
Aoe or Single target. -
Quote:um: Spines (3) Claws (1 immensely spammy one) DB (2) have aoes.
I sometimes search for specific ATs to invite, and don't often search for stalker. The others are not that useful to a team, but there is no way to filter those by build. Most scrappers, blasters, and brutes can do things other than single target, while non-elec stalkers have essentially 1 thing they can do well, and that 1 thing becomes less useful the bigger the team is. -
Freedom and virtue.
So you guys are telling me, that you have never been in Cimeora or Grandville, seen someone call out in Global TF LFM DPS 6 spots, and have a stalker advertise repetatedly while the team fills?
I was just on a TF last night where I had to Beg my way on, and once I joined the team the Leader says "I usually don't take stalkers."
This stuff happens and it is not isolated. -
Quote:Stalkers (well played of course) are always acceptable on a team.
People say that but its been made clear to me that Quantitatively its not true.
Stalkers have a lower HP and HP cap by far.
Thier survival is on a order of magnitude less than a scrapper.
They do less damage on Average than scrappers by a significant amount, and even when things are most optimal they only outdamage scrappers by an insignificant amount.
Stalkers have pathetic (relatively in the cases of spines, Elec melee and DB) aoe, in a game ruled by AOEs.
So there is a Quantitative case why you should NEVER invite stalkers to the team since they are a simply SUB-OPTIMAL AT. -
Since coming back to City of Heroes my current projects have been stalkers.
I recently finshed IOing out a Spines/Ninjitsu stalker with all the trimmings: Permahaste, Softcapped, lots of procs. Its quite the AoE Content grinding machine, and it has great single target relatively due to AS!.
I was quite proud of it.
However, I noticed that even though my stalker is so far ahead of the standard curve in terms of AoE damage and survivablity it is not welcome within the City of Villians community.
I have pretty much zero luck getting on Pick up Group TFs (thankfully I am in Repeat Offenders and they accomodate anyone for anything, but this is a discussion outside that.). When the impossible does happen and I do get picked up for TFs, I have had the following experiences:
Had people quit the team because the leader invited a stalker.
Had people threaten to quit the team, until the leader boots me.
In nearly 100% of the time People will say in Team for me to read it: "A stalker?, ugh Stalker. Oh boy Stalker etc"
I have to come to the conclusion that the stalker AT is simply not accepted as a positive addition to any team in City of Villians, and I can only see this growing worse come Going Rogue.
So what must be changed with the AT?
What addtions or subtractions can be done to the stalker AT to make them a welcome part of the City of game as a whole, instead of something people point at and use to comfort themselves and say "at least I am not him!"
I really have no idea. I was quite impressed with my Spines/Ninjitsu's performance that I planned to make my first Praetorian a DB/Ninjitsu. But obviously this AT is lacking in some way that makes it the worst choice for teaming with. -
I prepurchased what I needed from Blue side in advance.
See Most of the people who are massively rich on villian side are massively rich on hero side too.
We just don't play heroside out of preference. -
I know how hard it is to quantify AOE DPS.
But is it the generally accepted positions that Spines is still the AOE DPS leader int he face of Electric melee and Claws, and firey melee? -
I don't log in as much as I used and I am curious:
Which AT is the least liked/played these days?
I am assuming stalker by the forums. -
PVE definately. I actually came up with something, lemme post it.
Any help getting more defense or more recharge would be appreciated.

Looking to get a scrapper going...
I haven't played for 4 years....
Can you give me a good Unlimited Funds Spines Regen build to work toward? -
It took 178.75% recharge to get Call reinforcements and SUmmon Arachnobot Blaster to just under perma. (like 5 seconds of downtime on blaster, 2 secs maybe on Call reinforcements).
-
As a former traps afficionado, Pre IO and Post IO, and have had played traps to 50 on test with Dual pistols again recently:
I don't think traps is worth playing, nor worth inviting to a team these days.
Traps doesn't do anything good enough to make it stand out, and does most things subpar.
Honestly the best mitigation power traps has now is Caltrops imo. -
You build is in no way what I would consider optimal.
I can't extrapolate your results to my dom.
I definately lost a great measure of power in my character, but then again
my dom is on a order of magnitude better optimized than what you tested with.
Is it still fun to play? Yes. Is it nearly as powerful as it once was No. -
I should be in the closed beta because otherwise I will be spending all my time playing
Champions Online instead? -
I don,t invite or enjoy teaming with masterminds simply because
you are more likely to encounter bad players than good ones.
I know good mm players exist but I have not met one of these fabled creatures.**
**Outside the RO network. -
Dude, for this feature, I want to have your baby.
-
What I have not is pretty close to yours. Just a bit higher ranged def and just short of perma hasten.
-
Well this is what I came up with...
Any help would be appreciated.

This will be my first serious blaster.
I am looking for something with High recharge and High Ranged defense. Anyone got anything laying around that I can play with?
I could really use the help, as I am having a heck of a time building one on my own. -
I only have 3 50s (Maybe a fourth in Going Rogue I dunno), and they are only toons I play.
All are minmaxed.
I enjoy the combat this game offers (imagine that). -
I don't understand the anger and rage in this thread. Someone want to summarize?
-
Maybe rooted?
I think that is what I was thinking of.
+hp/+regen? -

My guess:
1 - Propel Rocks (Ranged Moderate Smashing, like the Legacy Chain minions)
2 - Stone Fist
4 - Gravel Spray (Ranged Cone Smashing, like the Minions of Igneous lieutenants)
10 - Stone Mallet
16 - Build Up
20 - Heavy Stone Mallet
28 - Propel Boulder (Ranged High Smashing, KB)
35 - Fissure
38 - Seismic Smash
[/ QUOTE ]
They might exchange build-up for some other gimmicky power.
