With Vamps you have a ton of options open to you.
The fact that they can be ancient means you can go with drawn weapons from the times they were turned so all Scrapper, Brute and Tanker sets. In my case, I decided my vamp had spent the centuries poring over ancient magical texts and now uses magic almost to the exclusion of his super strength, so I made a Dark/Dark Defender.
With vamps there are so many ways to go, decide on your concept and have fun. -

Perhaps a vault that can hold limited mixed items. Six recipes, six enhancements, influence/infamy, and a dozen pieces of salvage. Not big enough to let you hoard things, but still large enough to transfer items or put things aside for just one character.

whats interesting is that players who pay twice the subscription fees already have this bonus feature.
its called make an alt character on your second account and name it "storage alt" then transfer stuff to it all you want.
players with second accounts dont even have to stop at making one alt, they can have multitudes of storage alts.
too bad that you need to pay more money for this bonus feature though.....would be nice if everyone could do it also.

ChocolateChimp = Twixt?
You decide.
He sure seems like Twixt.
Self entitled attitude, refusal to see or acknowledge the validity of other points of view, no friends -
In the old days there were taxi bots.
but they mostly did the Hollows and Steel, I never saw any in Faultline. -
Ahhhh humor,
hmmm ok
Hah
You are a master of wit
Ok that was just obnoxious of me. -
DRAT I didnt get my new most favouritest alt (for this week at least) up to level 35 in time for the 7/8 raid, he dinged last night.
Whens the next raid?

I can't believe I actually read that tripe.
That simply cant be the work of a college level professor.
I must admit it also rankles that anyone would decide to deliberately grief an online community in order to "conduct an experiment".
His "experiment" absolutely did harm others enjoyment of the game which constitutes griefing. -
Power is right.
Dont delete the characters.
It's very Comic Book to have the original Psyche Shards still be out there in limbo waiting in the wings for Alan Moore or Niel Gaiman (or you) to do something with them.
If you need help coming up with a name for the new combined incarnation let us know. -

Should be more hardcore and not get any badges. Those were added after launch too and should probably penalize himself for any XP he gets from badges by accident. Oh and don't forget to work off all that patrol XP at some point. Should be uber hardcore and stop at level 40 as well, no PI or level 50 back in the day if you remember! No going to the Hollows or Croatoa and the aforementioned revamped Faultline or Cimerora either.
Delete folks off your global friends list too. You should stick to "old school" slotting as well, IE: 1 acc and 5 damage in your attacks, GO! This is excusable for any attacked tweaked to knockdown where you can slot a knockback enh to make it more annoying. Shoot, we also got an XP tweak and the curve was flattened out a bit so you're going to have to look up old XP tables and do some math to penalize yourself properly especially if you don't go hardcore enough to stop at 40.
Goes without saying that the tweaked Greenlines and such are off limits. I don't know how many hero side cape and respec missions you have to do to equal their old difficulty... ahh one shotting tanks with rikti swords in the cape mission, how I don't miss you. Oops that's another, one shot code, you have to kill yourself anytime it saves you. No PVP, not even arena! Be careful how you make your toon, lots of changes to the costume editor too, and none of those fancy propagated power sets or anything new! Hell, no CoV at all duh!

What the?
Ohsirus didnt say you have to play this way too or your not playing right.
He just said "Hey, I'm trying this out and its a blast"
What on earth prompted you to post what you did? -
I think doing new TFs and revamped Faultline and for that matter the Hollows is fine.
The concept is to pare down parts of the game to the basics.
TO's DO's and SO's, No radio mishes and therefore no temporary travel powers that can get you out of harms way while you travel around until you take your travel power.
Just getting to the mishes was a scary thing sometimes,
Staying in the center of the street panning camera views to make sure you were still ok slaloming when necessary like in Perez, good times! -
I remember in EQ there were different levels of RP that were permitted with some guidelines in the forums about what was and wasnt expected. Is that the case on Virtue and or Pinnacle?
-
Just curious
Which servers are the role playing servers?
If there are more than one, is there a role playing light server?
I was thinking it might be fun to have a totally immersed character (well mostly totally, I tend to have a fair bit of OOC chat so I wouldnt want to mess with someone elses immersion by talking about F1 or Football or whatever)
If there are any rules of the road I should know about before creating a character on one of the servers that information would be most appreciated. -
Nice,
I have just gone through a bout of IO envy where I decided I had to have an IO'd out character. So I went to AE and farmed like crazy trying to get the necessary tickets for reward rolls and bugging the heck out of the scrapper boards on how best to slot etc.
I still dont have an IO'd out toon, but to be honest thats ok. I will have an IO'd out toon, but I decided that I like playing the game just fine as is with SOs or Generic IOs.
My new goal is similar, take a character with a great concept and bio through as much of the content as possible, paying attention to the stories in the story arcs, getting souveniers and badges (But im not gonna get obsessed about badges except the history badges) and especially doing the TFs.
Its a great game and I am going to try and experience all of it. -
Thanks for the insights Soul,
If you would, Tell me a bit more about your BD/WP please.
Is he IO'd?
If you could have a DB/SR of the same level would you prefer it?
Hmmm, I have a funny feeling thats gonna be a question like do you prefer the 1980 Margaux or the 1979 Jordan Cabernet, Both are great each has its own unique flavors that make it a great wine. ( I used to work in a really ritzy restaurant so I have tasted both, and can appreciate both are good, but cant afford either!)
My current problem is Im not really gigging on my DB/WP.
My Brothers and I all made Jedi characters, theirs are Kat/WP and mine is DB/WP (my guy looks cooler than theirs cause hes a Twi Lek but hed look just a s cool with a Katana)
Mine is currently at lvl 37. He has been SKd to my brothers Katana/WP's (who are parked at level 46) characters most of his way up to 37 which may have warped my perspective a bit about his performance.
But it feels like my Brothers Kat/WPs are way more survivable! Admittedly theirs are 46 and mine is 37, but its getting me a bit down how squishy my guy feels, so I am pondering a change of venue. I also have a BS/WP that just turned 30 who I think is actually tougher than my BD because of Parry!
So I would like to either get my BD/WP character to become better perhaps with some hopefully inexpensive IOs (he's SO'd at the moment) or swap to a different secondary (or maybe even primary.)
I know all scrappers get to be awesome in the end, but either Im not doing something right with my DB (possible, I dont deny it) or he is just not as awesome as a Kat/WP.
Maybe there are some strengths in BD that Im not leveraging?
Maybe I should park him and level up a Kat/SR or Kat/WP and see if I like the feel of that combo better.
Wow I went on for a bit there didnt I?
Anyway your thoughts and advice are appreciated. -
WERNER! =)
I'm glad you posted!
That means you weren't offended.
Yeah it is a total drag only having one power that gets to be on auto recharge! I had the exact same issue ummm ( starts counting and runs out of fingers) a couple of times and then switched the status protection to auto instead of hasten. At least this way I am not insta dead. -
I am trying to come up with a conclusion about the relative strengths and weaknesses of SR and WP.
They will be paired with either a Katana or Dual Blades.
I plan to do in game and MA content, though when he gets up there I'd like to try my hand at AV soloing.
He will typically be solo, but I'd like to team as well.
The character will be a Jedi Knight so the low observable aura is important to the concept, if it wasn't for the too visible aura, INV would be in the mix as well.
So Scrappers what are your thoughts?
Which one is "better"?
Or is it a dead heat with different plusses and minuses to both sets.
If you have any thoughts about them, I'd appreciate it if you would expound on the plusses and minuses of each set.
Were there any aspects where you found yourself wishing you had a different secondary? Do you think with correct slotting the minuses can be overcome? -
Even for Regen, no status protection can be a real beat.
e/Leap into combat
"HAHA TAKE THAT EVILDOERS!"
knockback, stun, sleep, hold
"OWW, OWW, OWW!"
But then again, the revenge is an awesome motivator! -
OMIGODS!
EQ! is that still out there?
I want to play my beastlord again!
And I want those uber spells for my Shammy sniff I stopped playing EQ after planes of power
Ok back to CoH
Agreed,
AE is awesome.
I love the idea of creating new bad guys and stories, I'd love a bit more control over mobs and their behavior and placement and I'd sincerely love the ability to narrate or have the beginning contact gave in game hints while you are in the Arc. To better immerse players in the story. -
ColdMed,
can we see your build?
I'd like to see what you did and why.
I think building a good character is mostly about catering to your personal style of play, I'd very much like to hear about your build and play style so I can compare the way you play to the way I do and see if your build "fits". -
Werner, the only reason I used that quote was that it was soooo perfect, plus you have a good sense of humor
-
Hee Hee we have all done it,
Post your favourite in game brain fades
I'll start
After an unfortunate team wipe in a cows mission we regrouped and went back in, My DM/Shields scrapp is "tanking" I waited for buffs and checked that everyone was ready then I was off and mob diving into the first group. Within nano seconds I'm eating dirt wondering what the &*^% happened. I had my buffs, everyone was set, were my shields toggled? DOH!!
Oh. I AM retarded. Never mind. Nothing to see here -
Ok having read this thread and having both a DB/WP and a BS/INV scrapper and finding them both playable with trade offs here and there and having both experience moments of "OMG I RULE" surviveability with SO's and conversely "Oh sh_t this is gonna hurt, OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, MEDIC! MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN!" moments I can say, with hand on heart I like em both.
Now for invuln, I've read through Call me Awesome's guide on invuln and the def soft cap so I have a gameplan for that, But I'm a little bit unsure of what the game plan needs to be for my DB/WP.
What should I be working towards? more def? more regen? higher hp?
I'd love a some pointers on here are your holes and heres what to plug em with, or here are your strengths heres how best to leverage them. -
Wow,
How the heck do you keep track of all that stuff Werner?
At the moment I'm torn between trying to get some punches (air Sup, and boxing) into the mix for a more Cap feel or going with MA as the gods of CoH intended.
Thunderkick is actually one of my favourite attacks in look and feel, I just love that Kapow sound, and its quick and looks like it hurts. I actuially like the look more than Storm kick, but Storm is the best attack in MA so its staying.
Thunder does more damage than boxing and does accept the same sets as boxing (I remember Power muled boxing on his DM/SD build) so I'm leaning towards Thunder.
Air Superiority= Life so I will want that at least for a while since Ive seen what it can do in the hands of someone who knows how to use it well. I was stunned at what it can do to keep you up. You know that CoT mission that you get in the hollows? That big long bear of a mission with the crystal jails that anyone with any sense would avoid like the plague?
Well for the team I was on it was wipe city left and right but there was a DM/WP with air sup that just kept on chugging and it was because everytime Air Sup was up, something got knocked on its a$$. It was the difference between having to beat his way out of a crystal jail and getting to continue beating on bad guys! Needless to say he was our hero.
So lets see I guess at low levels the attacks will be thunder, storm and air sup?
Do you think that will be enough to be able to solo Posi TF? Or will I need another attack? -
Please do post that guide.
It just so happens Im asking for advice about that pairing on another thread.
Even if its gut, I'm pretty sure if there are any glaring issues in it, folks like Werner, Broken Prey or some of the other heavies will not be able to help themselves (thank god for altruistic streaks) and post some advice on what they think you might consider doing differently and why. -
Waitaminute!
You can slot more than one proc in a power?
I had tried making a Cap like char before shields came out, MA/SR,
I took boxing instead of thunder kick and air sup so I would have hand to hand attacks, hassle with boxing at least for me, is that it if you pair it with thunder kick it looks great, then go to storm kick and axe , but if you box then storm, theres a character reposition that looks a littkle bit odd.
So I have 2 powers that do the lowest damage possible instead of one low damage with progressively more damage.
So in the end I have decided that while I would LOVE to have 50% punching attacks,50% kicks, I would be gimping the heck ouit of the character to do so.
But perhaps with multi procs in punch..... -
Thanks Hindenburg,
I wont be able to see the build till I get home.
LBE could be a set mule, but it definately wont get used.
If Cap doesn't get em, neither does Shield 0f Liberty!
