EDIT: Misread -
I was going to use it as an 'astral form' type power on one of my scrappers, but then they made it shut off after so long for no good reason. Which is just one of many virtual kicks to the groin they've dealt that particular character.
-
I've been thinking that Focussed Accuracy seems rather overpriced myself. It doesn't seem to me that it should cost any more End than Tactics for what it does.

Why not? Could you explain your reasoning? I want people to have fun. I am against people not having fun. I don't want to force un-fun on others. How do your views conflict with my views?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because you're rude.
[/ QUOTE ]
And rudeness is a way of forcing un-fun on others.
But I must admit there have been times when I've left without explanation. Usually because I felt it was less rude for me to do that than to explain why I was leaving. -

Why are Practiced Brawler and Active Defense click powers, where all other mez-protection powers are toggles? The click seemed like a disadvantage before, but now that toggles don't drop while mezzed, it seems even more egregious. Can anybody explain this?
[/ QUOTE ]
They are different power sets, and thus have different strengths and weaknesses. It is not egregious that Super Reflexes has no toggle mez protection, any more than it is egregious that Willpower has no self-heal. Variety is the spice of life.
[/ QUOTE ]
However, it is rather silly that the defense set which most naturally pairs with a weapon - Shield Defense - has you periodically putting away that weapon in order to have your mez protection.
And it's poor mez protection prior to SOs given the constant gap in mez defense you have while waiting for the power to recharge. If they could be activated *while* mezzed, they'd be more useful, overall. -
As luck would have it, the Internet Archive doesn't have a recent enough image of the boards to bring up the thread. It cuts out in like October 2007, and from what I can determine the thread was made in early January 2008 (from what I recall of the original post, it may in fact have been the result of a little New Years indulgence). It's too bad as it was quite an amusing post that shouldn't have been lost to the annals of time.

I haven't counted my toggles. Let's see:
7 toggles from Dark Armor
Quills from Spines
2 toggles simultaneous from Leaping (Combat OR Super Jump plus Acrobatics)
3 Leadership toggles
2 toggles from the Fighting pool
Sprint, of course
Focussed Accuracy
That's 17 with Conserve Power set to auto and potentially Rest if one wanted to count it. And even with Conserve Power cycling and all my Recovery set bonuses I will run out of End with all of my toggles running. I have one power choice left, but for the sake of my waning sanity that will go towards Hurdle methinks.
I'm still debating whether I will make a second build upon hitting 50 just to see what a Spines/Dark scrapper can really dish out. -
Was it Werner? It's been so long, I've forgotten. But a few days after that amusing post, oh so long ago, I was inspired to create a character almost entirely focussed on toggles. Being somewhat aflicted with chronic altitis, my attention has wavered from the character, but I kept returning to it. I spent hours standing in the middle of green CoT groups in FF trying to get salvage I needed or that would fetch a decent price on the market just so I could slot chunks of sets that would give me recovery bonuses to support all the toggles (which I still cannot quite do for a prolonged period, due to those +Recovery procs from the healing sets being far out of reach).
I did not follow the described build exactly. I believe it called for Superspeed, but I eschewed Hasten even if it meant I might have two toggles I could not run concurrently. To console myself I occasionally turn on a Temp toggle. And I could probably have taken Stealth, though I don't recall if the original build did.
I'm just cresting level 49 with the character, and will probably hit 50 soon provided teams keep inviting me. It's been a tedious, yet oddly rewarding journey getting Togglobite (real name: Dr. Otto N. Toggleman) this far. I just want to know who I have to blame. -
[ QUOTE ]
SS I have no idea. I just can't see how they'd balance the fact that a Scrapper could double stack Rage and do over 660 damage (before enhancements, without critting) with Knockout Blow. Maybe if they turned Rage into Build Up it would be halfway balanced.

Take out the crash and make it unaffected by recharge buffs. -

regen bonus will be the same, since that's not affected by AT modifiers
however, forget traps (I know I'll play one at some point)
TA/AR here I come! about time!
[/ QUOTE ]Redraw on almost every single attack? Ewwww.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't be surprised if that combination was disalowed. You can't make Trick Arrow/Assault Rifle custom enemies, after all.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's only because MA enemies can't have more than one of any weapon set.
We can make Merc/TA or Bots/TA Masterminds with two weapons after all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed. I had a short-lived joke character called Rambo 20X6 who was a petless Bots/TA MM. And while Assault Rifle just isn't the same, I'd consider rolling him again as a Defender just for kicks. -

Lag CAN be an issue for slower machines
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't seem to be the machine. Framerates remain pretty smooth. It seems more like the overwhelming bulk of information trying to be passed between so many sources at once causes the game to choke. Among other things, Rikti appear and stand still for awhile then fall over dead without attacking (people were comparing it to a Mito farm at as it did this for several waves). -

I hope they dish out Conserve Power from the set and replace it with a click heal or click regen buff, call it Re-charge or something.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be surprised if it stayed in; otherwise Tankers could have two Conserve Powers. And that would be silly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't Blasters potentially get two targetting drones these days? -

It's...true...
That means
Sonic/AR! here I come!

Quick Clip?
The Muzzle Flash?
Rick O'Shea?
Personally, I'd rather have Poison/Toxic Blast, or Fire/Fire... -

One adorable little duck to follow me around, quack occasionally, ruffle its wings once in a while...

One that's never gonna try to migrate or escape?
Anyway. The one feature I want most right now is powerset reselection. -

He's now level 15 from the crazy XP that rolls from invasions
[/ QUOTE ]
The XP in these things never seems to be all that great to me. My level 14 character got 1.5 to 2 bars from one today (well, technically yestreday now). And in that time could've done a mission solo for more XP. -

I found another trick to fight lag last night while battling a Rikti Raid in Talos. I zoomed my view all the way out and my lag reduced tremendously and I got to see the fight that everyone was doing at the time, not just my little corner of the light show.
About an hour later, a Zombie Raid hit Talos, so I tried it again and I was amazed at how much better my game was during the Raid.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll have to give that a shot. The lag in the two I ended up in was almost as bad as the end of the CoV beta when we got to dogpile the Devatars. -
[ QUOTE ]
A bunch of heroes/villains standing in a spot, mashing buttons basically? I just don't get it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd like to say "the reward", but neither the XP, Inf, or Vanguard Merits accumulate at a reasonably rewarding rate during the event (much like fighting any given giant monster). -
[ QUOTE ]
Can you give us a hint at the utility power for the set? (ie powerboost, buildup,...)

Earth's Embrace, maybe? -

Stalker - Shields or fire melee
[/ QUOTE ]
Shields doesn't mesh with most stalkers sets or the stalker theme. Fire melee functionally double but breaks theme since how stealthy is a man on fire?
[/ QUOTE ]
Where there's fire, there's smoke...and smoke hides just as well as being invisible. I could easily see a Fiery Melee or Fiery Aura Stalker work. Especially if Placate and Hide involved vanishing into a swirling mass of smoke and embers, and then reappearing in a sudden blazing flash when you strike, like a backdraft.
That could be pretty darn cool.
[/ QUOTE ]
Besides which, once you justify bright crackling electricity for the stalkers, any other set that's questionably stealthy is viable because, hey, look at Stalkerchu over there sneaking up on people with lightning bolts shootng out of his backside. Fire could be a roaring blaze of doom that burns with the light of a thousand suns and still be fine. It's a moot point these days. -

and PINK SPEED BOOST AND PINK BUBBLES AND PINK ICE TANKERS AND PINK PERFECT PAINS AND PINK TRANSFERENCE AND PINK SPINES AND PINK RAIN OF FIRE.
[/ QUOTE ]
AND PINK ENERGY MELEE... wait... what? -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, that's useless.
If you've been playing for that long, you already know each and every map in the game *anyway*.
[/ QUOTE ]
And if by some chance you don't, there's always vidiotmaps. -
I wish! But the alternate animations we get will undoubtedly have the same animation times as the current attacks, as well as the same damage mechanic, thus making ye olde 'No Shadow Kick' an unlikely candidate, I'd say.
-
Assuming I get to play with this issue:
Von Benzer (mpka BlüdStôn) will have his pink Energy Melee coloured a more proper red, with a matching Invulnerability glow.
Tenzhi will have the green Regen aura removed if possible, and hopefully get some punches.
Captain Hamurabi will probably change Jab so that it doesn't look the same as Boxing.
Viridian Beacon will have his Rad Blasts and FF match
Sympathetic Devil (Fire/Rad Controller) will probably have his /Rad effects changed to orange or smoky grey.
Gravity Whale (Grav/Son) will probably change his Sonic Resonance effects to white. -
In an issue full of good things, this is one that stands out to me as well. Although I'm hoping for the level slider to go to -1 or even -2 for the sake of characters I have trouble soloing with (or for which it is tedious due to how long it takes to defeat minions, much less Lts). Even if it doesn't, it's a QoL change that I can get behind.

Heh. I quoted some Lovecraftian chanting to it (such things naturally come up in any given conversation, Ia! phnglui wagh'nagl fthagn! see?) and got redirected to a UNICODE translator with CTab asking me something in Japanese.
