Quote:I've never seen the Star Wars Christmas Special. Thus: terrible things that have been avoided are better than terrible things that have been endured.Okay.. At least District 9 was better than the Star Wars Christmas Special. I dare you to find a way to explain that it was worse.

Quote:If you are a happy shapeless mass of energy that suffuses the universe who suddenly finds itself given shape/direction by some Jedi muckity-mucks and a natural consequence of that shape/direction is a dark blight, then removing said blight whilst still beng forced into said shape/direction puts you all out of whack. So, if I'm normal and healthy, I'm out of balance, but if I get cancer, then I'm back in balance and everything is ok?
And if I then remove the cancer, I'm back out of balance?
Quote:It's not a 'theory', it's the creator's direct statement about the nature of the 'Dark side'.
Quote:The Force was in balance before the Dark Side, and the Dark Side disrupted that balance. It's removal results in a return to balance. It's really not very hard to understand. -
Quote:I was replying specifically to someone seeking game mechanic reasons, however the two ideologies (that is, game mechanics and concept) need not remain alien to each other. Conceptually, I like the idea of being super strong and uppercutting someone way up into the air, or smashing the ground with super strong force and flooring the enemies around me in a decent-sized area. Mechanically, Super Strength accomodates this where Martial Arts does not. This is where I get lost on the proliferation arguement.
This reply here (not to Tenzhi in perticular) makes it more of a "I want this for a game mechanic reason only" instead of "I want this for concept"
Quote:And with the alternate animations of Martial Arts, I find it hard to think people can't use Martial Arts for their super strength scrapper concepts. It has the punches! Take them.
Quote:It only lacks one thing, and that's ripping the chunk of earth from beneath them and throwing it -

Quote:Super Strength has a ranged attack, a knock up, a better AoE, and Rage.Game mechanic wise:
Super strength has stuns.
Martial Arts does too.
Super Strength has knockbacks.
Martial Arts does too.
I know I'm a new player but I have two characters, a Tanker with SS and a Scrapper with MA. I have yet to see any real difference between the two other than Martial Arts has a more flow feel to it while Super Strength feels like it's just random button hitting. -
Quote:The Force itself has no sides, it simply is. The way we interact with it creates sides, and these sides are themselves clearly created by emotions. To say that these emotional states - good or bad - should not exist is foolish.Only if you look at The Force as only being one side. The Force is like nature or the body, in balance as a default. The Dark Side is pollution or an illness, something that should not be there, that causes an imbalance in the default state.
Quote:By removing the Dark Side, you restore balance.
Quote:I think part of the problem is the terminology: Dark Side. This has led people to assume, naturally, that the Jedi practice the Light Side. I personally believe this assumption to be a mistake.
Can anyone point me to a time in the movies where a character says the phrase "The Light Side of the Force"? I can't remember one (and I may be mistaken). There is 'The Force', and then there is 'The Dark Side'. -

The Expendables for me.
Because I don't really like that guy in Scott Pilgrim and everything I've seen on the movie has me marginally interested at best. I suspect it will be an over-quoted, overhyped movie that I will find unpalatable - like Napolean Dynamite. -
I'd rather the map were contiguous, the buildings and caves were arranged in such a way that they could really contain the mission areas and that those too were not instanced.
Just as I'd rather the game were an offline single player game with limited multiplayer and an awesome mod community that were constantly cranking out costume and power additions. -

Indeed I have. There are various humours and when they are out of balance you have too much of one or more humours and/or too little of others.
Quote:Or how, when one is ill, the energy of one's body is out of balance. -
Rice is awesome and has been the basis of many of my meals. And while I love my rice cooker, I often just end up cooking rice in a skillet the same way I do Rice-a-Roni. The exception is sticky rice, which I almost invariably prepare in the rice cooker unless I'm making rice pudding with it.

None of my heroes will be going redside. Indeed, after GR goes live and I get my villains switched over I may never go redside again.

I want Slimes with a couple of toxic blast powers thrown in.
-
If there isn't more than one side, there can't really be balance. If the Dark Side is cancer-like and shouldn't exist they would speak of bringing purity to the Force rather than balance.

I don't have very many characters Red Side because I hate playing in the Rogue Isles. I find the zones to be either dull or irritating to get around in. The few active characters I have over there will undoubtedly get shifted to blue side. And I'll be starting several villainous ATs in Praetoria destined for blue side: A few of my Controllers will probably get deleted and replaced with Praetoria-started Dominators since I've always liked the Controller primaries but hated their Secondary power options. I'll probably finally make a Robots Mastermind. And I'll probably have a Stalker and/or Brute.

Quote:Dagnabbit, now I want some steamed hams.Superintendent Chalmers: "Yes, I should be Good lord, what is happening in there?"
Skinner: "Aurora Borealis?"
Superintendent Chalmers: "Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?"
Skinner: "Yes."
Superintendent Chalmers: "May I see it?"
Skinner: "No" -
Having only one side of the Force wouldn't be "balanced."

Overt melodramatic brooding about perceived personal failings? Today the part of The Lone Hero will be played by David Boreanaz...

I usually like my tea dark and bitter. Perhaps with a bit of salt added to it. Whether I want it iced or hot depends on whether I'm looking to sip or chug.
Quote:I prefer my grits sweet rather than savoury. I take them with butter and honey or syrup. If I'm not in the mood for sweet I'll just take them with butter. I find them to be very similar to Cream of Wheat.Grits with butter and salt and pepper as needed is the usual way to eat them.
And I love fried mush, but that's a somewhat unusual item to find around here. -
I barely even notice Supergroups any more. And I haven't joined one in ages. Heck, I created a one-member Supergroup for one of my characters who was getting too many random SG invites called "No I don't want to join your Supergroup" or something close to that anyway.
