  1. I dismantled mine to revamp the room a bit, but I had 20 (of the 22) tech beacons (unattached to teleporters) and on one side of the room, lined up in a 5x4 grid so that it looked like it was one big monitor showing all zones simultaneously in a control area overlooking the porters (which had their own attached beacons)

Yes, they consume power and control. Don't try it if you don't have enough for it all, or somethin in the base (not necessarily these puppies, either) will go dormant.

You can attach or float them (using lamps or cubicles), and build something else around them to make them look like they're part of something bigger.

Sister Psyche. I always go for the mental powered heroes.

*looks around* So you're saying you like it when girls fu----- play!--- with your mind?
  3. Would love it. A few of my characters are absolute clothes horses and being able to have, oh, 40 different costumes for them that they can cycle out at will (especially for the subtle-change ones) without spending another few million in fees to change (cos you know those are the characters who've already eaten through all their free costume change tokens).

Also agree on that the closet-costumes shouldn't be shared between characters. Gotta keep some semblance of Inf-sink, after all, and not all of a person's characters necessarily have the same body type, size or style.

Can't borrow my sister's jeans if they're too small to pull on (and i doubt my brother wants to borrow my minidress, even if it would fit him)
  4. Most visually appealing for me: my Plant/storm controller.

Others have said it, and almost all the plant stuff is different. yes the aoe immob looks like the single target, but you also have carrion creepers, which actually follow you for a while and sprout up big nasty thwacketty vines that pimpslap your enemies, and the fly trap pet, which is gleefully gruesome, seeds of confusion (LOVE IT! make your enemies fight each other!), and spirit tree (didn't take, but it IS a gorgeous power).

storm is just [color= yellow]WOW[/color], especially once you get tornado (my personal fave from that line) and lightning storm, which is absolutely brutal.

plant/storm is also HIGHLY synergistic. storm's steaming mist lets you get closer to your enemies to throw seeds of confusion without them spotting you, for instance.

I love to trap a large group of enemies in a corner or a dead end with hurricane, then drop a lightning storm and tornado on them for more dmg and lolfactor. Bonus points if they're rikti monkeys. ((I guess anything/storm would be a visual treat....i'm just partial to my plant/storm))
  5. ((It's a good thing you weren't subject to my squeal of excitement when I saw you had a new episode up. I absolutely love your style and story!))

    Bio theme songs

Some of my characters use theme songs, some don't. I do ravenously read others' bios, and if i have time to youtube a theme song, i sure as heck do.

My namesake's themesong is "Gonna Make you Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by the C&C music factory. Not one of my personal fave songs, but it fits the character's interests and personality pretty darn well. Second runner up for her would be "Calabria 2007 (feat Natasja)" Those crazy kins, always in motion.
  7. In addition to what FourSpeed and Ad Astra already said, you should have any low level alts play in supergroup mode til **at least **25. Up until lvl 25, it's free prestige and doesn't eat into influence earned. After lvl 25, you lose some inf. by playing in prestige mode, but it's not bad at all anymore (it used to be really really horrible), and a lvl 50 running missions in SG mode can really pull in the prestige while earning influence and other rewards (I'd say recipes, but most people are doing MA these days, so the "other" rewards could just be tickets, or badges, or any other number of things.)

And another point I forgot about, but saw in another section so I came back here to edit this one: Have any active characters log out near the base portals to work on the base monitor day job. for a brief time after you log in, you gain a bonus to prestige earned. It's a big help when you're just starting out.
  8. Didn't EverQuest have something similar to this? I seem to recall leaving a guild because I didn't want to stay logged out for 7 days to avoid being caught in the middle of a guild war.

That said--I have no objection to having this option, as long as each individual member has the ability to opt out (example: all "War" maps are spawned instances and must be entered by willing participants.). Nothin' kills the fun quicker than bein' forced to participate in something you don't wanna do.
  9. ((Might I be so bold as to ask, "When does Part III debut?"))
  10. Sadness Good luck with real life, the universe and everything. Happy travels, and don't forget your towel!

  11. well, one of the jobs is the one that cut me down from full time to 1 day a week (construction office), but since i'll only work 3 days a week for the hospital (12 hr shifts, though), i can still manage to work the office dealie and help my bosses here out, at least til they find someone else to do it.

i did call back to talk to billing after the hick tech scheduled an in-home service call for friday morning to get them to credit my acct. getting $13 taken off my next bill, so that's good.

oh, speaking of that hick tech, he really put my hackles up with constant foot-in-mouth disease. after insisting it was my router (no, sorry, try again) then he was telling me it was the modem. it very well could be, but i told him we'd just had to swap it out less than a year ago. "Well these things don't last forever, they're all made in like Asia or something."

I think my stony silence when he said that was my best response, but i really wanted to let him have it. Some of the best things in this world were "made in Asia", you ignorant little redneck hillbilly ..... (my "niece" for example. last nov. one of my best friends and his wife adopted a beautiful 4-yr old girl from china).
  12. Hihi Fed. Haven't started yet--tomorrow's my first day. Yesterday I did go in for the mandatory employee health exam, immunizations screening (for TB, MMR, etc) and drug screening)

Freaked out their Health Officer (who did the basic health exam) with my blood pressure. ((100/75)) "Is it always that low?" ...Well, it's usually 105/64, actually, why? **HO says nothing, looks askance and moves on to colourblindness testing**

Ooooh, I have something for us to do with the TARDIS-- Let's go find some Charter ISP bigwigs and beat them senseless with the fury of not having home internets (No COH!!!) for more than a WEEK, despite daily calls. Had to get hard-nosed with a hick tech (the first non-outsourced support i spoke with) last night who kept telling me it was my router. "No, it (the ethernet cable)'s hooked directly from modem to computer. Are you going to send a tech out here, or are you going to transfer me to billing so that i can cancel my account and get DSL from your competition?"

Figures as soon as the City Scoop features my villain base and i say "hey, if you wanna see it, send me a tell" ---we lost internet for a week and a half and i can only connect from the office job at the construction company. (going to be doing both hospital registrar and this for a while i think). /endrant

Hope everythin's goin' good for everyone else.
  13. That Cake looks delicious. I'd try it at least once.

    ...looks around...

    Hi everyone! Bye everyone!
  14. shield is also a really fun choice for brutes. Shield charge is insane with a decent amount of fury to feed it.

the hubby and i are running (among other things) a sonic/pain corr (him) and an axe/shield brute (me). only 30 so far, so don't have shield charge yet, but it's sick. i love the set.
  15. ^--What BlackAvaar said.--^

Adding: If a box pops up that you've never seen before saying you have a virus, and to get rid of it you need to go to XYZ site to download their tool to get rid of it ---- don't. That's their hook to get you to download the virus/spyware/adware/malware like an idiot.
  16. [color= yellow]Your son's computer will be more at risk reading /watching MSNBC news online than it would by playing City of Heroes.[/color]

    ((bolded/coloured for effect))

If he's really concerned, make sure he has a firewall and a good anti-spyware/malware programme installed and to run regular sweeps. I recommend AVG Free (others prefer Avast, but i have no experience with that) for virus protection, and i use malwarebytes, from malwarebytes(dot)org to scan for the really nasty stuff that may slip in.

I'd also recommend something like McAffee's site advisor, which gives a green/yellow/red (like a traffic sign) warning for sites that have been reported to be spammy/malicious right from the search index so you have some clue as to what you're looking at before you click on that link, and it will tell you exactly why it's rated that way if you hover the cursor over the rating marker.

I share the same feeling as Tekka. This is probably not a good idea.

Wait, which one of us are you insulting? You should think better of yourself than that. I'm completely nutters.
  18. Haven't tried it, but my gut feeling would be that it would suck. Do you play all the games currently on that HD, or do you just keep them to maintain saves/settings/etc in case you play it again sometime? Is there any way you can use an external HDD to store the ones you don't currently access, or even put just CoX on the external and then you can take it with you wherever you go?

.....And do you have any idea how hard it is for me to not joke about what else you must have on that HDD if it's full? >.<

    Cabal/witch hat

Of course, you can get a witch hat for chickies using the magic pack AND it has hair .... so why would you want the KHTF hat now (unless you're wanting it for a dude, i guess)?
  20. I've had the best luck with random rolls in the 35-39 range. you skip some of the annoying stuff that caps at 30, but still have a chance at the Big 3.

    Vigilante Theme

I'm not sure if you can decline contacts introduced to you by the detectives after completing bank missions, or do you plan on declining to do bank missions to avoid that as well?
  22. black/white is usually when folks are afk, i believe.
  23. when you're crafting your post, make sure you're not in the quick reply box (you won't be if it's an original thread. if you're replying to the cool items / rooms threads, use reply)

under your chat box, there's that grid, and one of them says "URL" --don't click it yet.

first, get the link you want it to go to, and copy from address bar. (CTRL+C default)

now, hit the URL tab. it will bring up a bar with http: in it. copy your link here (CTRL+V) and overwrite the defaulted http: in the box.

hit enter. next bar asks what you want to name it. text here. enter. done.

you'll have to do this individually per link, and it will always be placed at the bottom of your post, so do them numerically. when you're looking at the edit screen, you'll see some "ugly" stuff, but when you preview your post, you'll see it how the rest of us will see it.

steps in short form would be URL tag > link > "text", just follow the prompts.

Nice overview--can't wait to see more
  24. So is this the new official spelling of doom? does it have to have exactly one D, six Os, and one M? is it DOOOOOOM if not?
  25. /waves to Fed

I know, I know, ya prolly thought that I was dognapped too. still job-hunting. only getting to the forums on the one or two days a week that i'm actually working. good to see everything's "normal**" around here.

    ((**Normal for virtue, anyway *grin*))

/admires Cap and the duckie, reminded of a sesame street ernie skit from her childhood and heads to youtube to hunt up a clip.

Edit: Found it! /sits, grinning blissfully and goes to check out the Ernie/ Aaron Neville duet
