Quote:Be glad that you did. I think that is the same article where they talked about all the encounters we can have with that evil entity called "Hammadon."Sorry, was being rushed through posting by the Mrs. and didn't get to proofread as much as I'd liked. Originally I quoted a few people, didn't really mean to single you out in particular, just erased most of what I said originally and it kinda sounded like I'm just mad at you or something. You're not a doomer, all I was really addressing at you is why they limited communication to trial accounts, then moving on to shout my feelings at the empty room.
More shouting at the empty room: From PC gamer article at http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/21/ci...s-and-details/ :
I stopped reading at that point. -
Quote:That was missed by a lot of players in the huge thread, too. I think most people expect a model to be "Free or paid," and in this case we have "Free but gave us no money", "Free but gave us money at some point (Premium)", and "subscribed (VIP)."Judging by the comments being made, I have to wonder if everyone understood that if you are currently subscribed now, you will never fall into Play For Free status? If you chose to stop "subscribing/paying" you fall into Premium Player status. In other words, you retains 80-90% of what you have now...with out paying for it. Anything you do lose, can be recouped by a single, one time fee; after which you keep it even though you don't pay a monthly fee.
....sorry, not seeing any restrictions here what so ever.
Premium is not at all restricted from communication channels, or has very few of them from what I have read. It is only the people who haven't paid jack-all to Paragon that get silenced. Like Ryxx said, those people are basically on trial accounts that get to level to 50. To be bothered by one of those people, you would really have to go out of your way, or keep standing next to them as they spammed you in Local Chat.
Premium only seems to hit you if you have so many toons you may want to play at a given time. When you stop subbing, you get tokens and can choose which of your chars you want to activate. This would not affect most people unless they truly have more than 12 or so chars in their active stable - not things they play once in a while to get a shiny or two, but chars they actually want to play.
I can't see a downside to anything in the announcements so far. For people who pay every month, I cannot see much about the game changing other than maybe running into a newb once in a while. -
Unless something changes, all of the announcements have said nothing changes for players who stay subscribers. You get your allotment of paragon points and the paragon tokens/rewards. The only way you could get ripped off compared to now is if you decided you needed to spend more than those 400 points, or whatever you had accumulated. And it is still based on choice.
Granted it could come in the future, but for the moment I don't see it happening. -
Quote:The VIP server is only there for people who are so damn scared they may see RMT spam in local chat that they feel the need to flee into their gated communities.
the thing im annoyed with is that they are making only 1 VIP server and leaving everything else to the dogs, it should be the other way around adding a free server and limiting the current servers to VIP only
You need to let new players team with existing players if they are to have any hope of actually becoming a veteran player in the future. Complaints about Winter Lord and AE Babies? You are talking very high probabilities of having a permanent section of the player base emulate these reviled banes to the server. You can't learn about the game and proper behavior/mission etiquette/slotting if you have no one around you to learn it from.
I'm not going anywhere, and I hope no one else from Vic flees for the "promised land" of the VIP server either. Ignoring a given player is such a minor expenditure of time I can't believe it would even register on someone's annoyance meter. -
Quote:Would you base a trip to a city on a chance to get a costume code or see a booth for a video game you already play and read its forums? This is a sincere question.Doesn't help people across the U.S. who would need to make plans in advance to travel (in my case the East Coast) there--for the very very slim chance you MIGHT get a returned ticket.
This announcement should have been released much, much earlier--like when they were FIRST planning on going--and possibly when there might have been some tickets still available.

I think the five-minute cooldown on swapping plus the need to be out of combat takes care of this corner case. What is the recharge on Lore pets? If it is longer than 5 minutes I guess you could cheat a little.
-
Quote:The only thing I can see that stacks in that list is the mez protection from ID. Not the damage resist, but the mez. ID seems to be an odd choice given that other -mez were left off, but I guess they are thinking of it mainly for damage resist?they cant stack from the same caster, but if you have seperate casters they cant stack currently, so if you had 2 FF on the team, everyone could get 2x shields
if i had to guess they would stay stackable like they are on live (not from same caster type of thing) (disclaimer, this statement is just a guess) -
Quote:Hopefully they would do this instead of just pull SB out to answer complaints. I really hope it goes in as listed in the patch notes - but the cynic in me says opposition will be strong enough that something will need to be done with SB.Give it and ID a 4 minute uptime and I'm fine with them keeping the ST status. Kins have to spend way too much time reapplying buffs.
Quote:
What if they flagged it only to not receive buffs from teammates? Then the debuff thing would only be an issue when people are confused (which to me is really a nonissue). Or maybe they could somehow put in a speed cap that people could set (like default is max or you could set it so you'd never go over say 50mps?). -
Quote:I have seen both. Low-end PCs often do not handle SB well. And there are some who just cannot move well with it on them, or line up their cones, or other movement-based problems. It surprises me, but playing a kin, I have heard more than a couple people tell me these things.Just kind of question here: How does SB make people "almost non-functional" ? I get that you are moving quicker.. but are they unable to maneuver them self out of the way of obstacles?
Or do they experience lag because of it o.O
Quote:SB is imho one of the best buffs in the game. It is increased recharge, increased endurance, and some speed (it will not put you at travel cap though unless it's slotted for run).
People who complain about SB have either:
A. a very low functioning computer
OR
B. very poor movement skills
OR
C. are the type of people who would complain about getting free money
If A. sorry, I feel for you (I've been there), but you can still make it work!
If B. you cannot learn to get better if you don't try and practice.
If C. seriously people, you don't ALWAYS need to find something to complain about, just be happy.
A simple fix would be to grant either a "Do not accept any buffs" button (similar to do not accept items) OR allow buffs to be deletable (such as the powers from safeguards and mayhems are deletable). People have roles in a team, I am annoyed when a kin or any other character does not fulfill their role. Anyone who is going to get seriously outraged at someone else correctly playing their character is probably better off soloing.
Buffs and debuffs in the game are functionally the same thing (debuffs are negative buffs), so any kind of "cancel buff" option has problems because it would also allow us to cancel debuffs. This is why we do not have this request implemented yet - the arguments against run speed and SB go back to day 1 of the game. It would be great if we had options, but they certainly aren't simple and may not be possible. For example, if we were able to check "ignore all buffs," it's possible this would also prevent debuffs from affecting us.
I definitely hope they come up with something. -
You know, I love that list, but I almost wish they would take SB off. Complaints about thermal and ice shields are usually pretty lame (my poor costume!), but SB really does make some people almost non-functional on certain maps. Or even outside. :/
If SB were not in the AOE buff list, I can't really see any objections that may stop this from getting pulled or modified. Costume contest objections do not count.
Of course, I do not find it a chore to SB a team. But I also think blasting is more fun. I guess I am torn. I'd love to tell people to just suck it up, but it is also trivially easy to skip people in the buff order. -
Quote:There is a comic - I have it but sadly forgot its title - that details the confrontation with these blue-handed guys. It is certainly no replacement for getting several episodes of content for sure, but it does serve as a bridge between the series and the movie.I agree. I was really hoping for some sort of epic confrontation between the crew and the Hands of Blue men in the movie. The Operative was cool and all, but he wasn't anywhere near as scary or threatening as the Hands of Blue. And then I read the comic, which dealt with what happened to them. Let's just say, major major disappointment.
And River, yeah the show made it out to be a much deeper conspiracy than we got in the movie. In the show there were implications that it wasn't just the government after her, but also the huge Blue Sun mega-corporation (River goes bat-**** when she sees the Blue Sun logo, and I think the DVD extras imply that Hands of Blue were the Blue Sun hit team). That corporate corruption thread is left dangling at the movie's end.
Edit: Whoops, missed the sentence saying he read the comic. My reading is gud -
Quote:Masque always responds to me right away. But that is because I know a suga daddy when I see one and kiss his *** the correct wayHit me up in game if you wanted to roll a corr here for power gaming and needed accelerated xp obtainment.
@Masque or @Masque2... if I don't respond right away um... don't be upset, I've been told I miss a lot of my tells. -
Quote:Or you could say that they never balanced around PVP only, but that wouldn't help your argument at allThat was my way of pointing out they stopped balancing the game around PVP a LONG time ago. They know it's dead in the water and that the VERY few people who do mess around with it are not their target customers. I honestly thought any vet to this game would understand instantly what mentioning PVP and game balance in this game actually means.

Quote:Blasphemy! More than 1 character!?! Maaaaadness!Obviously I cannot add requirements, but I always find it helpful when people don't just stick to one character, but have at least a few characters in a repertoire to choose from when running something. If we want to run a speed Apex but the only thing you have Alpha slotted on is your Peacebringer... well I will be let down. That's not to say every 50 you have should be decked out in IOs or have tons of progress on all the Incarnate stuff, but still... having options and being flexible is important.
To me anyways. -
Quote:Hello. In the past Victory had several active LGBT groups. I have not seen that level of activity in a while, but I am pretty sure the server got this "reputation" a while ago. I still see the Bear Patrol, for example, but not a lot of the other SGs that were active in the past.According to http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Servers
"Victory has as a reputation in the community as "the unofficial Euro server" and "the unofficial GLBT server" because of perceptions that this server has the largest concentration of these two groups."
As an EU player hoping to move servers, I am just wondering if the above statement is true or not. Please reply! -
If you don't want to hunt grays, exemp yourself down via Oro and street sweep in PI. You should find some that would allow you to get drops.
Are there any tip missions with Nemesis? Usually those have a couple bosses in them. -

Quote:Not true. I love it. The Ghoul fight is the best one in the game IMO. People have already listed tactics to use. I just kite the whole time and never get hit. Seriously, move around a bit or fly. Grab a raptor pack.So far it looks like Golden Girl is the only one who likes the TF.
A TF that lasts about an hour without hunts, fed ex missions, or extensive inter-zone travel is just what the doctor ordered. -
-
With that change in start time I definitely have a much better chance of making it.
I would not mind doing a Vic-only AE group at another time of the day if there was enough interest. Would be a nice break from the trials IMO. -
-
Quote:As an example, I was just on a run where 4 (maybe 5) people went to the cutscene, and the other team still had a temp power to get. 5 people is a lot to bail on a phase before it is completed.Actually since, that one run, we don't cut scene jack.
Yes, GP its bad.... failing a trial because someone wants to jack a cut scene is stupid.
Best to just skip the cutscene "funny" and get the trial completed. -
Quote:I haven't been on many of the runs, but couldn't it be helpful when going for the "separated" badge? One run had both meatshields get cut down by towers, then the squishy who got Siege aggro ran for the hills and pulled him away from the spawn point. Badge failed.Message to the world...
BaF Trial. Do not turn off the guard towers.
Ever. It's rude.
Siege's target is supposed to be the tower target. Turning some off should keep people who are less likely to flee alive.
But in the runs going for the badge, is my above scenario an outlier? Do the towers really not make much of a difference? IMO, one astral merit in exchange for another one isn't that big of a risk - and really, 4 threads "wasted" is not much when trying for a badge. -
This power chains differently than other chain powers. I think to avoid the chain stopping if the 2nd or following targets die. The jump is more "simultaneous" if that makes sense. It is happening a lot more quickly, so it is a lot easier to miss.
