  1. They what? Awww hell!
That does suck. A fiver for a slot is steep. Too steep, IMO. Thing is, if we knew this was ALL going towards updates and such, then that might not be so bad. But if this is just profiteering? I know they need to stay within positive figures, but that is ludicrous.
And the name changes, that IS too high. FAR too high.

    Crusade: Open RP

    Vanguard Base, Chiefs Office

The Chief looked up from his written notes as a message came up on his screen. He flicked through the transmission from Longbow, visor narrowing at what was written.
"Computer, begin searching for everything known about one, Battle Unit Omega..."
  3. A web grenade was launched at Sanguines face, even as Drake hit the table. He was up as soon as he landed, the armour, basic though it was, still suficiant to cushion the blow. Those zombies that werent being sapped of energy he gunned down, scooping his companion up in one arm and re-cocking the rifles launcher with the other.
"This next one's a Frag, ladies and gents," he yelled, over the continued sounds of the brawl. "Really, don't do anything stupid."

    Valkyrie Nerf

Just had to help a friend fight Positron and Valkyire on Villains.

Positron seems to gain a huge defence bonus when he's at low health. Anyone else had that problem?
The MAIN problem is that Valkyrie uses the old version of MoG (Moment of Glory). Now, while it might have been a bit pants on Players, its a proper Godmode when applied to even and Elite Boss. On Hero lvl its almost less noticeable, as you EXPECT Hero level foes to be really tough.
But as an EB, solo, Valkyrie is HORRIBLE. Even duo'ed, shes a real terror. Im not often one for suggesting changes to make things 'easier', per se, but that mission is on a timer, and given how ludicrously tough valkyire becomes, and the legth of time that power lasts, I strongly suggest something is done =/
  5. Drake growled to himself, then looked around sharply at Rachels yelp. Before he could act, the greenish globual hit him square in the face.
The Operative stood stock still for a few seconds, gunfire ceasing, before he let out a yell. It was probably not, however, the one the Cowboy had been after.
"This helmet was NEW, you slime-sucking undead streak! You give me one moment to help out a damsel, and then I'll be right back, with a named Frag, just for you!"
He made a lunge for Sanguine, clapping a hand on her shoulder and jamming the guns still warm barrel against her neck.
"Let my chum go, or lose your life. Your choice," he muttured quietly, and his tone made it quite clear that he would be more than happy to pull the trigger.
  6. Drake glanced around at Rachels comment, even as he continued his charge. He skidded to a stop, however, as the newest arrivals burst in.
"...Ah, hell, just give me too many desiscions," he grumbled, before reloading the rifles launcher. The next projectile, aimed at the Undead Cowboys posse of minions was a venom grenade, designed to chew through most armours, and probably undead matter. If that didnt work, Drake mused as he flicked the rifle to full auto and let rip, then a hail of lead should do the trick.

    Also, LOVE the picture, Col
Yeah, why not a sword and pistol style character?
In facy, why not use this sort of thing as a basis to see the end of the horrible re-draw? For assault rifle and bows, why not keep the rifle/bow in one hand while the other uses the secondary? For bow that should be easy (theoretically...) enough, seeing as the bow is held in the left hand and the right hand is used for other effects. With the Rifle, merely cradle the rifle in the left hand, while the right again does the actions.
  8. Mix them up a bit. After all, we have the wonderful function that is Oroborous now.

Relegate old missions that have outlived there days and stick them in Oroborous. Or even introduce a Museum of Heroism or something, where young Heroes could learn about past exploits, and even take simulations to see if they could do the same. For Villains, maybe have an Arachnos Megacomputer with historical notes, etc, or Ghost Widows holo-library, for example.

Then we can have some new, up-to-date missions and arcs, that will be new to new players anyway, and refreshing to Veterans. Yes, it would be a lot of work, but having things stay the same for so long does wax thin after a while.
  9. /signed, like all the ideas here so far =]
  10. Its the same as the blooming Crey badge redside, for that oh-so-shiny Crey rifle Only way to fight PPs is in Grandeville, and they're all lvl 50-51 bosses. That in itself is ok, but they spawn in duos, if not trios, AND there are mobs of Banes, mit Executioners all over the shop...
    Bah, humbug! ><
  11. Drake swore as the hand grabbed his ankle, and he did indeed land face first on the floor. But it was far from his first time, and he used the momentum left to turn the fall into a roll. He swung the gun behind as he powered upright, letting off a burst of shots.
"Now you've gone and done it," he growled, glaring at the irate ShoXtar, "Now I'm pi$$ed!"
He was on his feet and charging the next second, aiming on the run at the thugs legs, and he was more than ready, should the idiot turn, to clip him across the jaw with the reinforced rifle stock. "Come an' GET some!"
  12. A short, barking gunshot punctured the air. Drake had taken a stance on the bar, and had his smoking rifle pointed at the cieling.
"Point of order, chum," he chuckled, in a cold, humourless way, "Hands OFF the lady!"
Drake brought the rifle down, and there was the sharp click of a safety going off, right before the projectile came whumming out of the end of the underslung launcher.
It was only a web-based munition, aimed to ensnare ShoXtar. But not everyone would know that, Drake chuckled in the privacy of his own head, even as he leapt off the bar, watching the grenades steady arc...

    - Killing pedestrians on the Rogue Islands would be bad for the meager economy and much more likely to lose whatever legitimacy LR has. This would make LR probably quite unhappy. Therefore it is not encouraged to do so. Indiscriminately killing pedestrians would probably result in an untimely death of the killer.

You know, there's characters who just don't give a damn about it and are not working for Recluse and are not intrested in what happens to him. They are the ones out there for the pure villany of it, for the pleasure of killing someone, or the money. Come on, they might even be working for Arachnos for the money alone and don't care for Recluse's life.

If you can defeat Recluse in GW's arc, then I'm pretty sure Arachnos can't kill you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I've said it before. Hells, its even IN THE MISSION NAMES;

Mayhem missions are NOT in the Rogue Isles. Ergo, Recluse wont give two !!!!!s what the Villains do there. That is NOT a valid argument for this. Whatsoever.

  15. Drake cackled like a madman, punching someone full in the face with a meaty crunch, waving with one, brass-knuckled gauntlet at Rachel.
"Evening, love!" he chuckled, planting a boot on the back of someone leg and headlocking them as they stumbled. "Come to join the party? Always a pleasure! Do the honours, wouldja?" he added, spinning the headlocked combatant to give Rachel a clear shot at him.

Perhaps because capes are so central to super hero "lore" that getting one should be seen as an achievement. Or to put it another way, it's something to look forward to, to generate anticipation, and therefore feels like a "reward". If there is something that can generate that same kind of anticipation, and be something people will want as much, then sure, move capes to lvl 1 and replace them with something else.

I have a feeling though you'd struggle to find something that would fit the bill as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Apart from the fact that many have said they are not feeling rewarded by obtaining a cape, especially when they have played through the game several times.

And where is the reward for those who are starting the game with the Valkari pack? They already have a cape available to them. Where are the new Mac users saying that they feel rewarded by having to wait to get more capes? Where is the reward in just obtaining more? Sure it's nice, but I doubt it will be much of a sense of achievement. Not like the old days.

With that in mind, wouldn't it be better to give heroes access to a special costume (including a special cape and aura) at level 20, based on Hero 1's costume perhaps?

Currently, I am not convinced that the cape is really generating enough anticipation, across the player base, to warrant it being kept as a level 20 reward (I'm not saying my suggestion would, just to be clear on that).

    [/ QUOTE ]

^ This. If it doesnt feel special, it doesnt fulfill its purpose (game lore/IC/whatever aside)
  17. Let the Villains stun them/kill them/knock them out...anything to get rid of them! They suck so badly in Mayhem missions when your trying to target the actual mobs, and getting doomed for your troubles...
  18. Today had been a good day for Operative Drake. Despite being demoted, stripped of most of his kit and having his armour close to gutted, things were looking up. His 'punishment' of being sent to the Dusk Spiders was seeming more and more like a godsend. Hells, the crazy technician, Steamworth, had even given him a new helmet, plus improvments. It might not even be too long before he could filch back some of the better equipment that was meant to go in Bane Spider armour...

A body flatted Drakes table, taking with it the contents. The ex-Bane stared at the space for a moment, before picking up his rifle with a growl. It was black and gun metal, the same as his armour which had been stripped off all the red paint, excpet for the new helmet.

The next staggering body to come his way was met by the stock of the rifle in the face with a meathy thud, as Drake used the gun like a club.
"Yeah, yeah? Come on, mates, lets rock!" Drake yelled, in the English, part cockney part 'something else' accent that tended to mark him out, even as he decked another brawler with an armoured elbow to the face.
  19. If your playing a defensive, team based Fort, then double the tactics pools means double the hitting by other people.

If your planning to mostly play Solo, only take the in-built Fort auras, as they have a lower end cost than the pool versions.
  20. So, you'd rather pay for the Devs to give us patches, and bug fixes, and new content?
Oh, wait, thats what they DO give us
And, from that arguement, if you've ever made a new alt you should, by right, be a raging hypocrite.
If you don't like the game that much, theres the always this little option called 'Cancel subscription', y'know?
Anyway, did I say I liked having to strive for fifteen months? No, I hated it at times. But I felt that it was worth it, and being able to hold that up as an actual achivement over someone just starting is a very good feeling.

Incedently, its 'Through'. A trough is something thats usually only found on a farm
    Maybe thats appropraite?
  21. Woo, threadomancy ftw
Can someone delete this? I didnt actually realise what the old and new Mogs did, it was based on the likes of Crey PPs.

IMO if you make a character, you should be able to from level 1.
you can talk about achievements, but having a cape at 2/5 of the game doesn't make sense, nether does it make sense that you need to be 3/5 of the game to have an aura.
if i want to make a character with electricity around him, i should not run trough the game, grinding my butt of just for that one thing.
it's a bit the same like the epics, i have to play trough the entire game, only to create a character and start all over again.
i don't see that is fun, nether as achievement, more an annoyance and a ridicules rule.

the fee is 12 euro per month, so that's 144 euro per year.
i can say that, after a year of playing, i strongly deserve to have what i'm paying for, and that includes everything from capes to epic AT's.
you can maybe say i look to much to that, but i rather say this then be the fool and keep it shut.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Theres a huge difference there. Epic Archtypes are supposed to be just that. Epic. Capes dont have an impact on the game, per se, there a costume option, which should BE an option.

Epics, on the other hand, are fine as they are. Your jsut going to have to slog it out, like everyone else has. It took me fifteen god damned months to get my first Hero to 50, something similar for Villains. And you know what? That felt GOOD. THAT was an achievement worth having. Because you unlocked a whole new section of the game that was a lot of fun to play, and it was something that you had earned and no one else could just buy.

Thats my arguement. To have a character concept and then be unable to utilise it is made of fail. Some people can get away with combat auras, shoulder capes of Valkyrie capes. Others cannot. That, IMO, is unfair.

As for game lore, some of it gets in such a knot that I almost trust player lore more Have you ever tried reading the Bios of the Phalanx on the official main site? If they gave the lore a good comb through and straightened it up a bit, maybe. But not right now, ta very much...
  23. with a 1 or 2 slotting with recharge, surely its still useable? I mean, they haven't nerfed the damage, have they?
Anyway, still taking it on one (possubly both, cant remember) of my AR/Ice blaster.

I still think they need to fix re-draw. Y'know the mini powers, like taser dart, mutgaen and the like? Them and brawl dont cause re-draw, why can't they simply work off that?
  24. Limits because they have 'not been done yet' are a whole different ball-game.

Anyway, Ive made my opinion clear, as have others. In the end, like it or not, its all down to the devs to decide.
  25. To be honest, the view should be moot from the get go.
It called an MMO[bold]RPG[/bold] for a reason, isn't it?

Anyway, I've said it before, its worth putting up again. It's all about options. People *have* the option right now to not use the Valk capes and shoulder capes until lvl 20, should they see fit, if they choose there Hero to be a rookie/trainee, etc. Or if their Villain is really that unambitious/scaredycat that they're going to go along with what Recluse wants ("For now! /em shakefist" )

What we DONT have is the full option for capes and auras at lvl 1. Which straightjackets peoples concepts at the start. To have such a great costume editor and then recrict parts like that doesnt feel right. If they feel there should be milestones, aside from the ones we already have like unlockable weapons, Rularuu items and Vanguard/Roman kit, then simply add more! Options are good, more options are better!
