Quote:That's a shame, I make it a habit to make a courteous "thank you for commenting on my arc" to everyone that leaves a comment be it good or bad. Most of them don't go through since I reside in the EU, but I appreciate them putting in the time to write one.I prefer the anonymous system. Back in early beta testing of MA, your opinions of an arc were e-mailed directly to the author.
I submitted my comments and got a rather pointed response explaining to me how my opinion was wrong. After that, I stopped submitting comments and only used stars. I don't need or want to argue about my tastes in mission arcs.
I recall being particularly brutal in one of my comments back in the early days of MA, but the author was very open to the critique and we ended up becoming friends. So I guess it can work either way. -
Quote:I wasn't aware that there has been grumblings about the competitions, but if you say so I'm not inclined to disagree.Closing Thoughts: I'm not sure if Aeon will make another challenge anytime soon, and I know that some people are soured on the idea as many of these arcs didn't get played as much as they had hoped, and they might not agree with the winners and runner ups, but I hope he does make another one and I hope it comes out with as many good arcs as this one did.
I would like to see some more comps too, though I assume Dr. Aeon's been holding off further comps until we finally get some semblance of a fix to the ally nerf, which I can totally understand. -
Wow has it already been that long? Gratz!

Awesome job PW.
It looks like you got most of the ones I would add from a quick skim, though I would also like to add my other arc A Penny For Your Thoughts #348691. It's level fixed at 20 due to a certain canon mob, though the enemy group you fight is 11-20. Origin is probably mutant. -
I'm glad you had fun with Mercytown, and thanks to Eva for suggesting it.

Quote:This. Back when I reviewed arcs, I have always suggested to authors that 99% of the time you should use an EB in place of an AV. EBs can still make an exceptionally tough end-boss that doesn't screw over control ATs, though that said I would also recommend that "but my scrapper can solo it" is not a good yardstick for boss difficulty on arcs meant for any AT.I love Elite Bosses. Unlike a boss they stand out, they don't scale down to two-shottable lieutenants if you have bosses turned off, and for a player running on x8 they are tougher than the zillions of bosses leading up to them.
Unlike scaled-down AVs they further scale down to bosses if you have bosses turned off, they don't ignore two ATs' primaries and they don't ignore knockdown. And because they're easier you can have more than one "big bad." You still shouldn't give them Build Up and Headsplitter though.
Back on topic: I usually play the recently DC'd arcs by Dr. Aeon, ones made by in-game friends and anything that crops up on the MA subforum that looks interesting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that GR will get rid of the latest band-aid, so I can less painfully look for randoms again as well making a start on a new arc. -
For the sanity of player's everywhere I don't think he needs to be made bigger, but I do think he should look "grander". He's basically an upright lieutenant, and with a title like Prince I'd at least expect a crown of hellfrost, or maybe some wings.

I find the default palette to be the least visibly jarring myself.

Quote:Works beautifully, thanks. You can use /petselectname NAME. The letters of NAME must be unique to the pet you want, so name your pets with this in mind. You can also use /petselect # with # being 0 through 5 to target pets on the list in order.
I have the numpad set up to use /*-+Enter3 with Alt to target each individual pet. Another good set of keys is Insert, Home, PageUp, Delete, End, Page Down.
Here is a single bind chain using Alt plus the numpad operations key (as mentioned) to target the new Demon Summoning pets, who already have unique given names:
/bind lalt+divide pet_select_name fiery$$bind lalt+multiply pet_select_name cold$$bind lalt+subtract pet_select_name hell$$bind lalt+add pet_select_name ember$$bind lalt+numpadenter pet_select_name garg$$bind lalt+numpad3 pet_select_name prin
Hope that helps!
I played around and made my own variation that selects them based on their pet# which corresponds with their respective Alt+numpad#, since I gave my pets custom names. For those who want to try it I'll post it here:
Code:/bind lalt+numpad1 pet_select 1$$bind lalt+numpad2 pet_select 2$$bind lalt+numpad3 pet_select 3$$bind lalt+numpad4 pet_select 4$$bind lalt+numpad5 pet_select 5$$bind lalt+numpad6 pet_select 0

Is there a way to set up shortcut keys to select individual henchmen, much like how you can with your teammates? It would save me some hassle of having to mouse over them whenever I need to buff or heal them.
-
And colour me impressed. Kudos to whoever wrote and designed them as they were the best canon arcs yet, and I especially liked how [SPOILERS] saving my clone from the fire led to the ungrateful swine from stopping my bank robbery. [/SPOILERS]
Sooo when can see branching dialogue for MA, or dare I say even branching stories? -
-
Hey Lord Byte, welcome to the game (and MA community).
I notice that you've listed your arc for lvls 1-54, so presumably your mission consist almost if not completely of custom mobs. Something to note about custom mobs is that even set on "standard" difficulty, they are significantly more stronger than the stock mobs. As such I would recommend that you set the difficulty to being lvl 22+ (the point where players can slot SO enhancements) to better reflect this, unless you went out of your way to depower them. -

I'm having a similar problem, but no windows popups. It's been stuck fixing sound.pigg for hours now.

I wouldn't worry too much about it: not taking your rez is hardly like being "that guy" who didn't take SB or TT: Maneuvers. 90% of the time you can just make do with crafting a wakie if someone drops.
Now that said I personally always like to fit the ally rez in my builds eventually, but that is because I build with TF runs in mind, where AV slug-fests and the need to keep the team constantly moving is more desired.
Isn't there like a day job temp that gives you an ally rez anyway? -
I don't know the exact workings, but currently any comments sent to you gets amended to a text file stored on your end. In-game they can be read by clicking "comments" on the respective arc.

Quote:AE hasn't used the tell feature in a long time though. Presumably the current system is be able to distinguish between 2 accounts that share the same global as with your situation, though I would be interested on a confirmation on this too.Actually no, this is slightly incorrect. An EU player won't see a US players comments because there are separate Global Name lists between the two.
I'd proof of this recently when I switched to my reactivated US account (but both with @Carnifax as the global) and a Global Tell MA comment from a while back was the first thing that popped up at me.
And it was a nice one too. A lovely way to restart my US account
Edit: actually I'm a bit unclear on your situation: was the arc in question made on your EU or US account? -
Quote:Hey thanks.I will recommend "Mercytown" (#6017) by @Frija. It's an excellent villainous lowbie arc that pays tribute to the Lovecraftian roots of the Coralax, and it's funny.
Also, you just reminded me that I still haven't given it a few fixes on stuff raised since PW's review of it. I'll need to get on that. :/
From a quick skim of the arcs I've reviewed, I would recommend The Coldest of Wars (299972). It's a fun arc with lots of corny goodness. -
From Red Tomax:
It's a -7% non-resistible tohit debuff for 8s and a 25% chance mag 5 Fear for the same duration, within a 30ft radius.
For the stalker who has yet to have the means to softcap themselves, it can be handy in surviving the alpha when you're the one on the team starting things off.
Edit: Just checked it on Mids, with Weave, Shadow Meld and AS Demoralize not even a resistance based, non-IO'd Stalker should have an excuse in not being able to hit the softcap at least for when you really need it. -
Quote:I can think of one reason: it's the holidays. For the past few days I have been teaming with a lot of new and returning players, drawn in by all the hubbub over GR. If I were to hazard a guess on what the devs are thinking, it's that they don't want a repeat of the last great AE farming and drama that ensued that happened during yet again another holiday, that saw a lot of new, and returning players checking out the hubbub over MA.
I am also entirely unconvinced that there is any emergency that comes anywhere near justifying having this patch still live as an "exploit fix", given the fact that buffing NPCs have been a feature of AE since the day it went live.
If this was the case and the devs said so upfront when they implemented this nerf, I could have understood their stance. I still think it's an amazingly bad implementation and they could and should have found a better alternative, but I wouldn't want a repeat of what happened last time either. -
Well okay, let's run down the negatives you have listed:
No argument here that exploits are bad, but exploits are hardly something exclusive to MA.
Quote:drained development time & resources away from other projects
Everything screws up the market. Arcane salvage was heavily hit back when ITF was shiny--but we shouldn't start giving dirty looks to it just because that happened.
They've been doing that since the days of PI and Television. Again this is not exclusive to MA, the only thing here that some people need to realise is the difference between farming and exploiting. -
Quote:And I've come to the conclusion that AE has been the single most awesome thing ever implemented by the development team. I have played arcs that have genuinely made me go "Wow, that was good" and I am sorry to hear you never had the same experience, but please don't stomp on my fun because you think it will somehow increase yours.I've come to the conclusion that AE has been the single worst concept ever implemented by the dev team.
MA is and always should be an alternative leveling path for the players. This was how it was given, and it has been player enforced by the plethora of pre-20 arcs that players have made to get away from the same old grind. -
Quote:Reading that certainly makes me want to write an Arkham Asylum style arc.
The current leaders of the gang have been identified as Decimator, Destroyer, and Destructor. They still take their orders from Tempter, aka Nick Pocker, the gangs founder who is currently serving time in the Zig. In fact, so many Hellions have ended up in the Zigursky Penitentiary recently that they regard the prison as a new, fertile territory for their criminal enterprises.
