Quote:So you are of the opinion that dark armour is significantly underbalanced, and its unique position of being challenged differently by tohit debuffs than other armour sets is not as important as overcoming this significant inability to compete.I am not 100% certain about who this question is for, but if it was me saying that I would of come out and said it. Dark Armour has unique needs, no one said it shouldn't have. Res to tohit debuffs still leaves some tohit to be desired. A challenge can be found more ways than one.
I think that's an interesting position, but I also think it's an unprovable, unfalsifiable position. Dark armour's fine, it's not a rarity, and any scrapper, brute, or tank who wants to whine about being slightly ahead or slightly behind in any way can jump up my butt. It's this same line of thinking that feels like the regen crowd thinking they need -regen protection. Then you compare the set overall to the other sets on the numbers, and you arrive where Arcanaville is - that the set is stupid bonkers good.
And then people come on the forums and suggest buffs to one of the best armour sets in the game.
Gotta say, you're going to have to provide some data and not just 'the way I test tanks.' -
So what you're saying is that Dark Armour should not have unique needs? That somehow having a challenge that nobody else has is something that needs to be 'fixed?'
-
A good rule of thumb is, if EvilRyu says it, it's wrong. Don't wear yourself out trying to argue against unserious positions.

Get out.
Ps. Don't say 'Oh, it's for the freebies!' I used Dark Regen on SOs and it was fine - if you're saying Ogloom is doing a serious number on your HP, you are not trying anything that SOs should be allowing you to do. -
Yes, because when we're talking about an action-packed high-fun casual-friendly, freshly-free-to-play MMO, it definitely should be cribbing notes from the most elitist english-language MMO with the harshest economic environment that exists.
-
I like how you use an unsubstantiated anecdote to call for nerfs to something that's not a problem and then draw a parallel between that and something that legitimately was a problem but somehow makes the person who fixed it seem unreasonable. Very classy.
-
Basically, the fact those powers can't is pretty much a bug, not a feature. But it really is a bug, and it will probably get fixed with all the due haste that Brute Cloak of Fear got (which was a mere thirteen issues).

It burns my very soul to say something in defense of Venture, but I have to. The ability to observe, to criticise and to analyse is not the same as the ability to create. It is completely reasonable to listen to criticism of these arcs even if the people in question have never provided the same quality of work themselves, and claiming otherwise is one of the most persistant and annoying fallacies of the internet.

Quote:Well, just so you know, the defender and the dominator have nothing in common. So you might not be seeing the counterpart system very clearly.Hmm.. an interesting read, but (regardless of what devs designed it for) I always saw the pairup as follows:
Blaster:Corruptor
Defender: Dominator
Controller:Mastermind
Tanker:Brute
Scapper:Stalker
That's how I always saw the counterpart system honestly.
A good place to look is to the Warshade and Peacebringer inherents, to see what classes were grouped together when co-op play was finally introduced for both sets. The controller gives the same bonus as the dominator, and the corruptor gives the same bonus as the defender.
Whether the scrapper is meant to compare to the stalker or the stalker is meant to compare to the blaster is almost meaningless at that point because no matter which comparison you draw, the stalker looks bad. -
Mine skipped Shadow Maul in the end because the AOEs were just too spicy at the top end.

I can't remember now if the comment was said in confidence, but I'm fairly sure it was public knowledge that too-fast movement puts a strain on the server. The reason the servers can handle us zipping around en masse at the speed caps is because we regularly stop and give it time to check up on us and not leave us as perpetually heisenberg'd particles.
-
Yeah, the idea that it needs to last longer than 30 seconds doesn't seem much of a PVP nerf to me.
-
Quote:Seriously, that's news to me. What exactly did it used to do? Because right now it's awesome.
Phase Shift being rendered utterly useless.
At least last I talked to someone about it, travel suppression is far, far more of a server load issue than it ever was a PVP issue. -
Because it means that good, well-done arcs like mine will never ever hit the # of plays, arc number, and rating that I currently have because I have no stomach whatsoever for the aggressive ******* you have to do to get it?
-
Quote:They don't have to be to make your point. Your attack routine in question would still be 76 endurance and have no need whatsoever to bring Dark Regen into it.Hypothetical examples are supposed to be extreme, and simplified.
The other, alternative point that other posters brought up, that simply being endurance-consuming is something players learn to live with and socket around - is equally germaine I suppose. -
God no. I'm trying to make you and people like you who read these posts think for a moment 'Huh. Yeah, I guess that is a bit of a silly attitude to have.'
My favourite AT has received four new powesets total, since launch. It has gained two out of proliferation, and two genuinely 'new' powersets. By comparison, the scrapper/brute/tanker trio (in which stalkers get to benefit) have received two whole new powersets since the last issue, and received in that same issue three powersets through proliferation.
The greater point is this: Not everything is going to be perfect for you. Whether it's being too hung up on how things could have looked or taking a video game about spandex-clad nazi-punchers seriously enough that you can't enjoy whacky animation cycles, you are rarely, if ever, going to get exactly what you like.
Oh, and anyone who takes me as a sample of the game's playerbase is an idiot. I, after all, play dominators. -
Handy, OP. You saved me from asking this myself.
-
Quote:That's it, pack the MMO in, we're going to have to start it over.
but this is a huge dissapointment. -
Quote:I like how you threw the most endurance-expensive power in on the end there and it's from your secondary. To give you an idea of how bad the set is for endurance, I'll use a hypothetical example for a TW/Dark with no endurance reduction..
Say I use the power shatter armor to activate momentum, then use the AoE powers Sweeping Strikes, Arc of Destruction, and Whirling Smash to wipe out the small targets. I then use Follow Through to finish the hard target, but notice my health has dropped dangerously low, so I use Dark Regeneration to heal myself off of the remaining targets. Hopefully I have over 100 endurance, because in just 9.372 seconds you have used 103.8 endurance. Just using the three AoEs (not counting Defensive Sweep), you have already used 48.64 endurance, and you can do that in 4.09 seconds. Needless to say, the set can burn endurance.
Your greater point is worthwhile. -
And I shouldn't knock a 20-foot tall robot the same height off the ground as I do a 20-pound zombie, but here we are.
