Another update for the thread. We had a very good run earlier this Thursday evening as the time checked in at nearly 1hr36min. A veteran team ran this evening and it showed. I think the only moment was in the first mission where my troller got mezzed and went into yellow by a tarantula queen boss but that was rectified heh heh.
Other notes was that the team elected not to wait for a refresh of the flier. The team cleared all 4 towers very quickly with plenty of time to spare.
Without further ado, the team...
Dauphine (Ill/Emp troller)
Boris the Badger (stone tank)
Gaelic Storm (Ill/Storm troller)
Right to Arm Bears (DP/Nrg blaster)
Arctic Blaze (Ice/Fire tanker)
Gravitas Discrepancy (radiation defender)
Mage Avenger (Kin/Rad defender)
Vik Volcanic (Earth/Therm troller)

Congratulations to Mage Avenger and Arctic Blaze for earning master badges! Big thanks to the rest of the team for their parts in the successful run. Looking forward to the next one. -
I never purposefully target through anybody for the multiple reasons mentioned on the thread.
From a tank perspective in team setting, I rarely stay on one target. I am taunting a far group, in attack animation and then taunting again. Rinse and repeat.
Its a small point often missed on even good leaders on master runs. Calling out a target and not assisting off the tank is very prudent. Its very easy to lose out on a master run LGTF when the tank scrolls to Hami and someone fires off a shot at Hami and gains aggro. -
Yea one possible issue of base editing in a large, active SG is that several may want to try their hands at it. One possibility is to divide up areas for folks to mess around with but that may not satisfy everyone because a lot of times, it doesn't allow everyone to mess around with all the possible objects.
Another possibility is to simply have friends put at least 1 alt in the SGs and work possibly designate a night to run stuff with and earn prestige for each base to be fair.
But honestly, I agree with the folks who mentioned that prestige must be earned which means a combination of playing and/or recruiting new, active sg members to increase prestige earning power.
Agreed on the re-visiting the ratio of purchasing prestige via inf. That is one quick fix way to help get more prestige if you have some influence to use.
And yep, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the first screenie shows one kicking sg entrance! -
Strangely, the Proclaimers - I Would Walk 500 Miles song came to mind as I criss-crossed the Hollows as a lowbie without travel power.
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be that man who walk a thousand miles to fall down that should do -
Welcome aboard since you're moving from trial to full account hero status.
Couple others tipped off Paragon Wiki (use it, love it) but I also want to mention the Mentor Project which you can follow up on here...

Its a great in-game resource for new players (as well as veterans) to simply jump into the channel and ask questions on just about anything CoX. The forumites here are also very helpful in general and no doubt, you'd have an answer to any question quickly. -
Another SF Scramble contest! (thanks Huron, Kid)
I'm definitely in for participating and will try to organize a team for it (meaning I'll have to talk fast).Team 1 already looks formidable heh heh.

Much like a few others, matter of convenience. I usually don't need to level up so badly that I go out of my way to a trainer. If I'm near one, great, otherwise the training can wait a bit.
That said, I don't skip levels usually unless I happen to ding twice or more on a tf and its inconvenient (DrQ tf anyone?) -
Deliberate run but a win nonetheless.
Congratulations new badgers!
Whew! Got my emp out of the way -
Looks like its been awhile since the last update but some news coming out of last night. There were two teams that attempted last night and though it may have taken a bit of time to sort everyone out, both teams came away with wins. So hearty congratulations to everyone on their patience and efforts!
Our particular team's run took 2hrs9minutes for completion with a team roster of:
Right to Arm Bears* (Dual Pistols/Nrg blaster)
Doc Jen (Emp/Elec defender)
Gaelic Storm* (Ill/Storm troller)
Swordsmith* (Katana/SR scrapper)
Mrs. Icy Jen (Cold/Ice defender)
Son of Yorick* (Nrg/Nrg blaster)
Aletia (Plant/Rad troller)
Agger Fend* (SD/WM tank)
* denotes new badge winners

Once again, great job everyone! Look forward to the next one. -
I'm guilty! ;D
But yea, EoEs are necessary but they sure are nice to have.
As for a time, if its on the weekend, my preference will be for an early morning start. Something like 6am pst/9am est works well.
Hopefully, folks are flexible enough to be able to alt to depending on team needs. -
Congratulations on your first MoSTF win there Stormy! Always nice to get the first one under your belt.
There's a reason why they call it 'easy mode' when you have nothing but defenders and trollers on the team along with the tank and there's nothing wrong with that heh heh. -
I can certainly help out with a MoLGTF run.
Can bring anything the team needs but will initially say my emp/elec/elec defender (DOOOM!!) w/ two st holds. I'm on pacific time. -
Big thanks to Huron for sponsoring the sf scramble tournament!
It was a nice surprise to see your email heh heh.
Looking forward to the next challenge. -
I think as it stands, the DrQ tf potentially sets such an nasty tone for the other shard tfs that finding folks who want to actually do them can be difficult. Put me in the camp of revamping the DrQ tf. The other shard tfs imo, don't really need to be though the hunts/missions can be repetitive just like the DrQ but you're not 'stuck' doing them for hours on end.
I'm not a hardcore badger (used to be) but I try to get all the accomplishment badges on all alts. I have several toons who have completed DrQ and all the rest of my 50s need only Portal Smasher.
The tf is such a time suck (about 5hrs average) when I run them that I simply don't have the time block to complete it in. I actually do like the other shard tfs but the DrQ gives the shard tf overall an underserved bad reputation.
Average time block from my perspective:
DrQuaterman: 5 hrs
Sara Moore: 2-2.5 hrs
Justin Augustine: 1.5-2 hrs
Faathim: 2.5 hrs
When I put together shard tfs, the most often things I've heard...
1) this is the first time I've been here, this place is beautiful
2) traveling can be teh suck here
I still hope that the shard can be put to better use as I think it deserves it. People on reputation alone avoid the shard because of the perceived difficulties in travel there without fly. The zones are a lonely place and they don't need to be. -
Ever since the introduction of master run tfs/sfs, I've included Tough (and Weave) for all my tanker builds with the intention of tanking LR. Every additional tool towards survivability helps when you're not hitting the s/l resistance cap (ie everything not Invuln or Stone).
Before STFs/LRSFs, I rarely ever dipped into the Fighting pool and generally took tier 9 powers like Unstoppable.
Tough and Weave standard practice for me now, but on some combinations, it just makes it that much harder to slot everything heh heh. -
Well, had a team complete 2 of 4 of the sfs before rl issues reared its ugly head and put the kabosh on our entry. Had to reform and run with 4 new teammates, but managed to get all 4 sfs done in a crazy sitting. I've got all 4 screenshots but will hold onto them a little longer since we may try and arrange a redo of certain part(s), schedule permitting.
Big thanks to...

Also thanks to members of the original team for the first attempt.
Was fun to be a part of! -
Huzzah!
And just maybe, you'll have a lower barrier of resistance for folks willing to play redside now that it will be easier to kit up a toon leveraging resources pooled from blueside. -
I'll just double my Day 1 prediction and go with 880 million as a second guess.
I'm sure I'll be Price is Right-ed soon enough heh. -
Just to echo what others have said, you'll want 12 pts of KB protection for everything in the game. Or take acrobatics if you can afford another toggle power. I can't remember the last time I was knocked back with just acrobatics.
But if you need to maximize power choices and can fit in KB protection IOs, strive for 12 points and you will be covered.
In PvP play, its a MUCH higher number. -
First off, I'll point to this thread on the forums that runs a similar parallel to this thread entitled...
"Why so much hate about the Mo Badges?"
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=222348
But there can be annoyances associated with master runs. I agree with the OP that it should be explicitly stated as a master run so that all are in complete understanding of the goal of the team. (Which usually is to obtain that master of badge). It will give folks a chance to bow out or be talked into staying.
I can honestly say that I will feel more comfortable even in a PuG master run if someone takes charge when it comes to instructions and getting everybody on the same page. Its one of the reasons why I still PuG at times because there's plenty of folks I haven't grouped with and I may learn something new. I like to expand my global list of friends (or rather have more resources available to me when I choose to put my own master tfs together)
In all honesty, the more I run master tfs the more I begin to see a melding of caution and speed. Folks will get more proficient if they regularly run. Now I know it doesn't help those who don't have nearly as much time as others. This is where a tf leader can differentiate him/herself from average joe tf leader....by providing instructions/guidance in the flow of the tf as to what will happen and what to expect. Not every tf leader is the same as I have found out heh heh.
Deaths do happen even with experienced teams but the merits are still good. Hopefully, as part of the process, the tf leader will keep positive and just maybe, continue to run the rest of the tf as a master run 'for practice'. In this way, anybody on the team continues to get exposure to tried/true methods for 'winning' on a Master of run. This of course, is dependent on the rest of the teams agreement. Just have to get it next time. -
Quote:Always game to try something different and on top of that, simple to throw together. Much appreciated. Although the term Bachelor doesn't qualify for me here lol.Bachelor Chow
1 12oz can Wolf Brand chili (turkey meat Wolf Brand can be found for kosher bachelors)
2/3 cup uncooked instant rice
1/2 cup grated cheese (I like colby jack but pick your favorite)
Directions are simple:
1. Cook the rice according to the directions on the box.
2. Mix the chili and cooked rice.
3. Heat the mixture a bit more in the microwave.
4. Add cheese.
5. Eat.
As for the original intention of the thread, I likes my Coca-Cola w/ ice! -
