Whoa.
Look what he quoted originally from me.
I said:
Quote:And, the hard damage cap is above what the Combat Attributes say because the Combat Attributes is only displaying the "damage buff cap" not the "damage cap".
Edit:
Are you tired again, Hopeling?
I'm just pointing out that you misinterpreted my words again, because he misinterpreted them as well. -
That is why I suggested they hack another 100% off the combat Attributes cap and make enhancements count separate from other buffs.
It would accomplish the same result while making the buffs listed in Combat Attributes absolutely accurate as "additional to the power's own damage numbers". It would make calculations of damage easy without Mid's or another outside program.
Does that not make sense?
Shall we keep the current "300% +/- any enhancement values over/under 100%" + base damage mess? -
Quote:DarnA 30-day AE license has appeared on beta a couple of times, but it has never made it to live, nor even been focused on for testing. I couldn't tell you exactly why, though.
There's no way to get AE access a la carte, at least to the best of my knowledge. Sorry :/
I hope they add a permanent option. Because there is no way I'm reaching story creation access(though I have reward access oddly enough; you would think they would reverse that access so people could build fun stuff before they can power level with it) without a much better financial situation and a lot more good permanent items in the store to buy.
Any redname want to comment on whether you all are throwing this idea around?
I really think you would be better off exchanging the AE reward access in the paragon reward tiers for story creation access. You probably don't like farming, but it seems you like farming more than you like creativity and stories. -
No it isn't.
The damage cap is 400%, but Combat Attributes caps at 300% in the example.
That means it is not showing the "hard damage cap" but the "hard damage BUFF cap".
Damage cap and buff cap are different numbers, which is why the Combat Attributes thing and how enhancements are figured in are so stupidly messy.
It seems that we need to use Mids just to get accurate damage for our powers because we can't accurately and quickly tell how much we are benefiting from buffs due to our enhancements making some of the buff get truncated off.
I hate having to use advanced math just to figure out what should be obvious and simple numbers.
What happened to playing games, learning by playing and having fun with easy to understand concepts?
No wonder this game has such a small population compared to what it should have with its story and customization and cool powers. -
Quote:Ok then, so why does the combat attributes window still start at 0% even though you're fully enhanced for damage? The orange part is not correct. That should not be added. The cap is 400%, not 500%.
If they really wanted it to be clear and accurate then they should hack 100% off the damage buff cap for everyone and exclude enhancements from that calculation so that the combat attribute buffs will fully be the value they say and be the full value that applies to powers.
What you are saying is that "300% damage buff is only 300% when completely unenhanced or when enhancements are perfectly enhancing to 100%" which makes calculating damage a REALLY messy affair. -
We need more information. There is a sticky at the top of these boards explaining how to post a CoHHelper and Hijackthis report. That will help.
Also, I forget what the "popmenu"stuff is, but it would not surprise me if something is hogging memory and causing a crash.
I have odd crashes nobody has been able to explain as well: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...68#post4225368
I have the "pophelp" stuff disabled because it is annoying, if that is what you mean. But, the window where those little exclamation points show up will sit over my other Ui elements on first login and when it wants to show me something even if the window is disabled and invisible, or at least it used to.
It's one of those systems that I wish they would just delete from the game because it doesn't help people nearly enough and all too late for when they really should learn it(like they need a manual to read before playing, or the wiki).
It's like they were trying to make the game less of a "trial by fire"but failed because the game is such a mess that it would need an encyclopedia(or wiki) worth of info right at the login screen, rather than the few popups that state the obvious that can be figured out by looking at whatever prompted the help popup.
Edit for clarification:
The pophelp thing is for the people who miss the obvious, but those people need a LOT more help than a little popup, which they probably will have trouble figuring out as well, can give. -
Quote:Actually, that is an odd resolution. The only monitors and TVs I have ever heard of, in this area(continental US with a Wal Mart and Best Buy so not "the boonies"), are 16x9 or 4x3.1920x1200 is not an odd resolution. its commonly referred to as 16:10 resolution common in high end often IPS monitors.
Anyway, that resolution still seems a little high for those system specs with ultra water and shadows up. -
Quote:It's an expensive crappy way to get costume pieces if you ask me, unless you get extremely lucky, and worse if you're unlucky.I ended up getting most of the set within about eight packs. Funnily enough, I got the robe with the last pack before my VIP-granted points ran out.
I don't like chance at all when I'm spending money.
In most of life, you can get anything for a finite price if you want and chance if you want to risk not getting it for a chance to pay less for it, but I can't think of any situation where you are forced into chance. -
It could also be overheating(or something related to hardware throttling down to stop overheating or something) because they just booted up and that was the first thing they attempted(maybe first thing that really loaded it, not sure how bad those arcs are for performance).
/shot in the dark -
Quote:Ok, but was there any plan for offering the service at least in a monthly temporary method while not subscribed?Creating arcs in AE is a Reward unlocked by filling Tier 6 or being VIP.
AE access is the only system without both a temporary or permanent unlock in the market.
I would have expected to see at least a temporary unlock, or a permanent unlock(akin to masterminds and controllers for sale) for those who can't wait or feel it would be cheaper than "this is the fee that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends...", especially considering I heard "the devs don't want players to lose access to created stories so the access needs to be permanent once reached" or something.
Are there any plans to add this to the store, especially for those of us who have hundreds of dollars to go before that unlock(some things are way too far into the tiers to make sense) and don't see enough we like that much to spend that much(not to mention are more financially strapped) and won't subscribe for whatever reason(we're entitled to not subscribe while still spending money, as they gave us the option)? -
Quote:I see that, but maybe he/she was just tired of waiting in a zone that usually has a trial(I don't know if this is the case). It's more the passive-aggressive "how dare somebody else not form this trial for me" comment at the end that's annoying, not just that somebody is unwilling to lead.
They were rather common, at least on Freedom, the past week.
Anyway, feel disgusted by what was said all you(all instances of "you" are "in general"/"anybody") want. You have a right to your opinion, but complaining to a bunch of other people, especially permanently stuck on the forums, for just one comment comes off as a bit of a "rage issue" with how exaggerated that makes such a comment. -

Quote:But who runs Praetoria to be able to join them these days?Or join a team and you can get those (and all other content not in Orob) as well.
Who actually runs Praetoria and doesn't solo to get every story arc they want rather than just speed through?
Finding somebody who is after the arcs that starts there is easier because finding somebody that starts there, period, is hard, but it's still not a busy place.
I'm actually one of the people who runs characters through there rather often, but I don't go for every arc and solo. I also am "trying to cut back" as my altitis is out of control. -
Quote:Doing that idea would not get people to change which TF they do, which is the objective of the WST. They want people running the less popular content, so they can't just say "run what you want for an extra reward the first time" as it would just be "an extra reward" and not "run this content".I say this every time this issue comes up (i.e. every time they release wtf list) but why not use the mechanic they use for SSA rewards to make the first tf you run a week the wtf? Would give extra incentive to join TFs in general. Maybe it would keep me from having to load in a second account just to run a silver mantis on my low pop. server.
Yes, this could mean defacto itf every week. Yes, this could be abused with speed trees or morty. No, that wouldn't really be a big deal. -
Quote:That would be so awesome to have TFs for Praetoria!!!With the introduction of First Ward and Night Ward i was honestly surprised there weren't task forces given to these zones, which could have easily been added to the list of TFs available to WST.
YES PLEASE!
though, they would probably be paid content, like the rest of Praetoria, or restricted to "native Praetorians" for below level 20, killing practically all incentive to go there and do them because of less people paying for them and being out of the way. -
Maybe they need to make it 4 targets per week, 2 each side, that are not tied to each other so you could have more options while each week could be more than the same old variation.
You could have the Respecs + Posi/Tarikoss one week and then Respecs + Ice Mistal/Numina(?) the next week, or any other variation instead of "painfully slow hero respec + annoying vines villain respec". -
Quote:It's even more "fun" when an enemy from a wave "gets scaewd and wuns to mommy".The worst part of Terra Volta for me...is the frickin reactor. I mean is it realllly necessary to have the cool-downs between waves sooo long? I ran it recently when it was the Weekly and regretted it afterwards LOL. I remember having to run it back in the day and am ever so grateful for vet and freespecs.

Humans are herd animals.
Often nobody will do anything until another wants to do something.
1) Not everybody should lead.
2) Sometimes leaders only emerge when there is a need(reluctant hero).
3) Often people don't form anything unless there are enough people that it has a high chance of collecting enough.
I can't fault anybody for asking, but I can fault somebody for complaining about polite requests in the expected and proper chat channel that they could always ignore/close. -
Quote:I believe that 4pm is central.(Edit: I could be mistaken since timezones are confusing sometimes.)Freebie Friday runs from 4pm Thursday - 4pm Friday (Pacific time). Last week's was extended because it was special, as the announcement said.
I do agree that the timeframe is not very clear and all too easy to miss, but it's the same place this week as it has normally been.
Edit 2:
Apparently, I was wrong. Can't always be right. /shrug -
Well, it was less than 2 months after Freedom launched, so maybe there was enough of a mass of people back then.
Edit:
Either this thread is going to die really quickly or it will balloon out of control. -

Quote:Possibly, but also "3am in North America" would make sense in that maybe there were that many players across all servers tha thad issues, and is the reason it wasn't higher than 30k.Probably the forum maintenance group botting it up. It's an awkward time, almost 3 am for eastern North America. So even if it was an unexpected server outage I'm not sure enough people would have noticed to mark a peak on the forums. However it was right around when the forums were having problems, and midnight on the west coast is probably a safe time for a little impromptu stress testing. And yeah, the forums are always having problems but they actually fixed that one.
Who knows? lol -
I'm premium, but I also would like to make some cool custom enemies and a cool story for them.(including an "evil me" ideal evil version of myself to be the "master villain")
Is there a permanent unlock method other than spending WAY too much just to fill out tier 6?
I really want to be able to create content, and the market only seems to sell story slots(do these include the ability to create or just for those who can already create?) and nothing else. -
Quote:The original poster was talking incarnate trials where the level shifts do not activate until several seconds into a resurrect. Also, 0.25 seconds is an INCREDIBLY small window to get killed in. Exactly what are you fighting that:
A) Doesn't get knocked away or stunned by RotP's effect (I assume the AVs of a trial)
And
B) Is nailing you -exactly- during that quarter of a second window before Untouchable kicks in
I think it's a pretty big issue for such a big chunk of content that they are pushing.
