  1. I happened to notice that the window opacity slider no longer effects the opacity of the colored portions of the windows in the user interface anymore, if it ever did.
I thought this was odd and a possible bug(probably is), so I went to the options.

I had my window opacity set to 100% since changing my window options earlier. I clicked the slider and quickly moved it to 0% and back to 100%, looking for changes and hoping it would fix it if it was a bug.
It did not fix it so I quickly flipped the slider to minimum and back to maximum again.

So, I flicked the slider between maximum and minimum at least 5 times in quick succession.

I then noticed my netgraph, which I always have visible, start to have sever yellow spikes well off the graph and registering a "SEND" number over 107000 and resulting in almost 1000 "retransmitted" packets as well as over 100 "duplicate" packets and 50 "lost" packets.
The netgraph also registered this a lot faster than normal. Normally the netgraph crawls across the screen, maybe showing a couple minutes of the network ping history. It was as if time accelerated and the entire graph filled with yellow for at least 30 seconds that filled the length of the history at least twice.
I was surprised that the game didn't crash.

I am guessing this is easy to see on another computer, though I don't know if it will show as obviously on the netgraph when on a faster internet connection.
Try it out, but be careful.

    Edit:
I find it odd that a graphics option, that affects only my end especially before I have clicked "apply changes" or "accept" or whatever, would cause any network lag let alone the severe lag it did.
    That is not good.

I've been going through it a lot, so I notice things.

Also, I have seen VERY few others in Praetoria. Usually, there is nobody else there, but, occasionally, there will be 2-5 others running around.

Nope. I think they broke them in issue 18 or 19 or so. It was fine before then. It's an easy fix too, but good luck getting anybody to take the time to correct a single axis of position coordinates that would take all of 5 seconds once you know where to look.
  4. Is it possible to change that little alert sound when you receive a private message?
I wish it had a louder native volume so that it could be heard over the other effects in the game. Currently, I keep the sound low to make sure effects don't blast my ears(using headphones so I don't disturb others) but the private message alert is almost inaudible then.

If it is possible, does anybody have a good "not too loud, but loud enough" and not annoying sound file and instructions they use?

  6. Next time you are in a mission with the absolutely stupid and annoying, too numerous to count, NPCs running crazy everywhere....look for Waldo.

I swear, I saw Waldo in one in Praetoria, the first mission from Dr. Steffard.

That should give you a good laugh to alleviate some of the aggravation at all the NPCs causing lag, graphical slowdown and shoving you around.
  7. 1) not the color of anguish
(Edit: 1 and 2 could be switched here. I haven't run it in a while.)

    2) color of anguish

    3) portal that is not like the other ones(look at the torches, there are ones ina line instead of a trapezoid arrangement)

The clue spells it out after you defeat a single portal master as well.

    Edit:
FYI, it will look like you got sent back to the start if you go through the correct portal, somewhat. You actually go to a different floor or something though.
  8. 1) Unlocking masterminds requires 13 Paragon Reward Tokens slotted into your reward tree OR subscribing for VIP until you reach those 13 tokens for permanent unlock OR buying the archetype directly from the Paragon Market.

    2) Yes, you can delete a character and reuse that slot to unlock a locked character. I have done this at least a few times.
Essentially, an empty slot on a server is "unlocked".
The only times you can't move a slot are when they are tied to a server, which means they can't be moved to another server, or when they are specifically tied to a character.
  9. The bug happened again just a little bit ago and is still going on.
    It's really odd.

The only other thing that behaves even remotely like this are tool-tips when they show so long as you aren't moving and disappear while moving, though badge tool-tips flicker on and off instead of disappearing the entire time you move.
I have no idea if they are linked, or why they would be.

    Edit:
    Here is some interesting behavior.
It behaves this way even during the "rooted" portion of powers, when you can't move.

It seems that just giving the game a command for movement, whether you move or not, causes it.
That would mean it isn't an issue of "the cursor point of view location can't keep up with the player camera point of view" and more of a "cursor POV moves off location on movement command" issue.

    Edit 2:
It seems tool-tips and the cursor position bug are related at least slightly.
When I had the bug(my computer just crashed on me after I disabled to "razerhid" process to test), the tool-tips for inspirations and powers in my tray would disappear for the entire time I was moving, but now that I do not have the bug the cursor is back to working properly and the tool-tips flicker just like the bad list tool-tips do.

I still have no clue why.

There is one pattern. The bug seems to start with a random zone load, and the bug seems to persist, through switching characters or reloading the game(at least within a short time), until another zone load some time after.

    Best antivirus?

Firefox + NoScript + Adblock Plus
    That helps a LOT also.

    Edit @Kitsune:
I think it everyone was more arguing about the semantics of your post and the fact that it seemed like you were "stating the obvious" as if he didn't know all that already. Maybe he didn't know, but the best route to go is to just suggest alternate Av software and leave it at that.
  11. Yep, lower settings and make sure your system is not trying to use the "integrated graphics" on the CPU instead of the graphics card.

Also, clean out the dust as best you can, canned air or a blast from an air compressor into the vents works well enough.
Laptops are notorious for overheating the harder you push the system. Even heat from a different part can cause a nearby one to overheat and fail.
  12. 1) I do not like the sound of "there is no thermal paste...". If you took apart your video card then you probably caused the problem.

    2) Reduce your settings and clean out the dust from your entire computer. You need a lot of airflow to keep it cool.

    3) Try this software to manually adjust the Nvidia graphics card fan speed higher, though you may need a different version for your card to have the fan speed option available:
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_...ools_6.06.html
That will keep it cooler before the graphics card hits the point that it would automatically raise the fan speed. Essentially, the automatic control is a little slow and more like a "emergency pressure release" would be on a boiler.

Other than that, you may need to upgrade because the game is a system resource hog now.
  13. NPC: Belladona Vetrano
    Mission: "Take down Cockatrice"
    Contact: Praetor Sinclair, Imperial City
Wiki page(odd that the link says Chimera): http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Chimer...o:_In_Due_Time
    Picture of incident: http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/4...lladonabad.jpg

I was using Time's Juncture at the time, which has a huge radius to draw aggro, and Belladona Vetrano did her "teleport away" at the ambush point in the mission, as she is supposed to.
She stayed after she went invisible and was supposed to have left. She then attacked me.

    Solution ideas:
    1) Why does she stay at all? Shouldn't the game forcefully remove her? You could fix that.
    2) Use whatever code the game does to remove defeated NPCs after a certain amount of time, if it really removes them when they disappear. That would make her disappear completely.
    3) Make her "con" as an ally. Obviously, she attacks because she is an enemy.

    Best antivirus?

I could not be happier with "avast!".
I have had no issues at all with my computer or the previous one since I switched to free "avast!".
  15. Check the chat box int he picture of the Daniel Shapiro defeat.
He spouted his dialog after he hit zero health and then I defeated him again, because he got up, and he spouted the dialog again.

For a couple months at least, he has just healed 25-50% health at every 25% health marker when he spouts dialog, but now he even heals at zero health, essentially resurrecting him.

    What is next?
Will he resurrect an infinite amount of times instead of just the one 50% heal on the first time he uses certain dialog?
Will he start repeating all his dialog because of the healing and thus be impossible to defeat due to "infinite regeneration"?

He is not supposed to heal at all, but he heals for 50% each a total of 4 times. That is rather significant.
  16. I have been filing bug reports about the first two for months, and just one month for Reese.
The bug keeps getting a little worse and/or spreading to new NPCs, somehow.

Also, the automated response email to a bug report suggests posting it on the forums.

    1) It may be relatively minor, but that won't stay that way if the pattern of the bug worsening/spreading continues.

    2) It's not that minor for some characters, especially considering Daniel Shapiro is a mezzer and Red Bomb is a Destroyer Big Dog boss(nearly immune to mezzes with noticeably high defense and definitely high damage) even if he is downgraded to lieutenant on lowest difficulty.
I hate those Big Dog enemies enough, but having him heal every 25% health marker makes the fight longer than it should be.
  17. Certain bosses in missions are currently healing 25%-50% health back at every 25% health marker when they spout dialog into the NPC chat channel.

    1) Daniel Shapiro, "Retrieve the Survivor List from the Syndicate" from Tunnel Rat in Nova Praetoria.
    Wiki page: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Tunnel...s_Best_Officer
    Picture: http://imageshack.us/f/832/healondialogdoubledefea.jpg/
Daniel Shapiro actually got back up(which is a new and worse instance of this long-standing bug, an occurrence that did not even happen 2 weeks ago) because he spouted his last dialog after he hit zero health. He had to be defeated twice and ended up needing to be damaged 275% of normal(25% heal at 75% health plus 50% 3 times after that plus the original 100% health).

    2) Red Bomb, "Extract Red Bomb's Blood" from Doctor Arvin in Nova Praetoria.
    Wiki page: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Doctor...:_The_Red_Bomb

    3) Reese, "Aid your Powers Division Team" from Transmuter in Imperial City.
    Wiki page: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Transm...Past_Revisited

I have not yet fought the latter 2 since Daniel Shapiro started getting back up after being defeated. It would not be shocking to find those 2 get back up as well, once I get to them, but they seem to "take longer"(as in the bug is less severe for them until days later than Daniel Shapiro's bug got more severe, going by past experience) to experience a worse form of the "heal on dialog" bug.

This is really annoying and problematic, especially for weaker characters.
I really hope the bug doesn't spread to even more NPCs like it spread originally to Red Bomb and, days later, Reese. That could make task forces and trials a VERY big PITA.

You know what really worries me?
This could turn into an infinite healing cycle where he "magically" gains 50% health and gets up after every defeat forever and ever and ever and ever....
Or, he could just never be defeated in the first place due to the "heal that should never happen", making the mission impossible.

The same could happen in every mission where bosses are talkative.
That would break the game very fast.
  18. Well, that's good to know so that I don't work too hard to try to solo giant monsters.

You're right about the advantages of Time Manipulation. I may have to put some effort into trying and learning how to make it work for a mastermind.
  19. Say I wanted to solo giant monsters....

    1) Would Demons/Time and Demons/Force Field even be able to do it?

    2) Which would be easier, Time or Force Field, for giant monsters?

    3) Which would be better, even if harder, Time or Force Field?

Also, does anybody have any experience with using Time Manipulation on a mastermind? anybody with experience with both Force Field and Time Manipulation to explain how they compare?

Time Manipulation sounds good, but tricky as a mastermind.
  20. Edit:

Never mind. I just have a much smaller chat bug that I have had for a while. This issue was with a supposed friend not acting like a friend and the game not being forthcoming in letting me know what was going on with the systems used.
  21. The bug happened again, but I still couldn't see a pattern.
I don't know what to do.
  22. Report it as a bug. Maybe they accidentally disabled the option for "no pulse" by accident on the version given to brutes and tankers.
  23. SI isn't that great when you consider how stealth works in this game. It suffers because of the "200ft stealth" when it really only needs 65ft because that is how it works in almost every situation.

I post multiple times, rather than making a LOT more edits, because I think of other things to post. It keeps things a bit easier to read and makes it less easy to miss things I would have edited in.

    Edit:
I, for one, keep powers like the Dark Armor stealth on, same as Energy Cloak and Stealth, if I have the endurance simply because they add defense in addition to making it easier to start combat on my terms.
Superior Invisibility is even more likely to stay on for combat because of the fact that it does not suppress the stealth. I can avoid additional aggro from close groups and ambushes without "heat-seeking noses".

Its a long time since I used a logitech mouse and I did find the driver clashed with my sound card giving regular sound loops leading to mapservers but certainly nothing like the problem you are describing.

A quick check on Google shows a number of problems with Logitech's drivers dates ranging from 2003 up to late last year - especially Mouseware in conjunction with OpenGL applications

It may be worth trying updating the mouse drivers or even removing them and letting Windows use the default driver. I'd also try switching it to a different USB port if its a USB mouse.
I presume you aren't seeing any similar problems outside the game.
I don't think it is the mouse drivers. I haven't had any issue with the mouse at all, or the previous wired version, over 4 years at least.
No problems outside the game or in any other game or application.

I also have not seen the bug again in a couple days, although I haven't been on as much lately due to other concerns. I've also been working on new character builds when I have time to play so I haven't been really playing to see if it happens much.

If it happens again then I may be able to see a pattern, which would be a good thing.
