Vincent Ross's "Meet with Botis" mish...

Ok, perhaps it is just a lack of intelligence on my part, or maybe I just missed a clue somewheres.... but can anyone tell me what we're supposed to do in this mission?

I kill everyone I meet, ok good. Go through first portal, kill everyone else, ok good. Then I get to the room with three portals, and it comes to a complete halt. I have two choices:

1. Get 'ported to a dark cave-room full of 100 orange-title ghosts with a portal at the other end, said portal returns me to the beginning of the mission

or

2. Get 'ported back to the three-portals room, wash/rinse/repeat.

This happens no matter which of the three portals I pick. Obviously I'm missing something, please clue me in. I have two alts actually waiting to drop this mission, I find it so frustrating.

Read your clues. The mission gives you clues on which portals to pick.

If I remember, the first 2 sets have a red colored portal. One of them you pick the non-red, the other you pick the red (something about 'the color of agony?) And then the 3rd set, you look for the one with the torches arranged differently.

1) not the color of anguish
(Edit: 1 and 2 could be switched here. I haven't run it in a while.)

2) color of anguish

3) portal that is not like the other ones(look at the torches, there are ones ina line instead of a trapezoid arrangement)

The clue spells it out after you defeat a single portal master as well.


Edit:
FYI, it will look like you got sent back to the start if you go through the correct portal, somewhat. You actually go to a different floor or something though.

The problem with this mission is the very first portal you see is different then the others. In the second picture you see the portal you need to enter on the left. This is an annoying bug/feature that can be very frustrating the first time you run into it.

those torches on the first one look a little more skewed than i remember, they could have gotten messed up since vincent ross was introduced though, but the ones that stick out the most to me are the straight line torches

It looks like the first portal's torches are all offset by a couple "feet" (or whatever fake measurement this game uses because it's certainly not legit feet/yards/miles!), simply a misplacement of geometry. They look like the same configuration; it's just their position makes them look off because they don't match the other samey-samey ones.

On this mission you get clues as to which portal you should use in each of the three portal rooms.

First clue refers to the first set of portals - go throught the one with the colour of anguish
Second clue refers to the second set - go through the one not the colour of angish (and not the portal you enterred via)
The third clue tells you to go through the portal with the markers in front of it in a different arrangement from the others.

In each case if you go through the wrong one you will be transported to the ghost room - if you get there you can either fight them - very dangerous - expect to die but it is possible or just run for the portal in the back of the cave - you shouldn't take a huge amount of damage unless you stop to fight. This will transport you back to the beginning and you will need to start again from the first set of portals.

Thanks everyone, mission completed last night.

Not really sure this is the most well-thought-out mission ever, but at least I got through it. I must admit I am enjoying these newer missions with altered ambient lighting; this mission is lit by torches and I really like it. Adds spice to even the same-ol maps.

Huh. I never figured out the torches. I just memorized that it is the back one on the left.

The front portal torches have always been incorrectly aligned to the portal (bug). The back left portal's torches are the only ones in a straight line (correct choice).

Nope. I think they broke them in issue 18 or 19 or so. It was fine before then. It's an easy fix too, but good luck getting anybody to take the time to correct a single axis of position coordinates that would take all of 5 seconds once you know where to look.
