Computer keeps shutting down
1) I do not like the sound of "there is no thermal paste...". If you took apart your video card then you probably caused the problem.
2) Reduce your settings and clean out the dust from your entire computer. You need a lot of airflow to keep it cool.
3) Try this software to manually adjust the Nvidia graphics card fan speed higher, though you may need a different version for your card to have the fan speed option available:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_...ools_6.06.html
That will keep it cooler before the graphics card hits the point that it would automatically raise the fan speed. Essentially, the automatic control is a little slow and more like a "emergency pressure release" would be on a boiler.
Other than that, you may need to upgrade because the game is a system resource hog now.
Well I am a fool.
It was thermal paste that I really needed. Right now the temp is 66 which is a 30 degree drop from earlier. I even got to play coh for a bit without any crashing. seems to be in better shape now.
I cant believe I let it go for so long without renewing the paste. I was careful not to use too much.
But I am satisfied now. Whewh.
Thanks man.
Fight The Power
Hi there.
I've been playing coh for near 8 years now (14 then, 22 now, its a sad life)
Never had I come across this problem.
My video card is overheating and overheats during coh. Hell, even rarely outside of CoH. But right now I have a couple programs open nothing too stressful for it and its at 94 degrees Celsius. Thats good. It's usually 108 or even higher.
I've never had this problem before. I have 3 gigs of ram, a GeForce 9800gt 1gb, and a 500w power supply.
Now, I've noticed there is no thermal paste between the video cards gpu and the case nor is there one on my processor and the fan. Would that be a simple fix? I havnt been able to play coh all month because of my pc doing this. Its really frustrating.
Thank you for listening.
