I am trying to decide which day during the 2 weeks I am going to take off to run as much of this as I can...
-
I wish the event was 3 weeks instead of only 2.
-
I can never seem to get enough KB on those jerks to get them into the lava before I kill them and I so want to watch the Voids burn.
-
-
I want to kill Hardcase, rez him, and then kill him again and so on until I get bored with it.
-
I have run hard with Windfall twice on 50s. I've gotten no rare drops except temp powers, no shards, etc.
Then I went and played another 50 without windfall and of course for 2 shards right away and a rare boss recipe.
So yeah I hate the PRNG. -

Quote:Yep.Just because the service is automated isn't justification for lowering the price. From looking at other hybrid MMO's in the industry it seems to be in the same price range. Some are lower, some are higher, and some are right around ten bucks.
They should set the price at the point where it makes them the money they want for it.
I have no idea how they can determine that price point but I would hope with the new model someone is in charge of figuring that out. -
Quote:So if you don't get your points you have nothing to complain about because they were free.Yes they are. Before, your $15 got you access to the game and all it's goodies. These were added on as a bonus to your subscription. They are free. Now, considering that 400 points is $5, and a server transfer is $10, you're essentially getting back the $15 you paid, whether you're going to use the points/transfers or not.
We cannot use the before comparison to the current because before points were not part of the game.
Before $15 = 1 month of game access
Now $15 = 1 month of game access, 1 token and 400 or 550 points depending on Tier Level.
This is not unlike an all you can eat buffet including the drink. If you were told you could not get a drink because the machine was down would you be "oh well, at least I get the food. the drink was free anyway"?
This is a new game. This is Freedom. The purchases have changed. These guys are not crying for entitlements or demanding free stuff. They* are asking to get what they pay for when they pay for it.
*Me? I don't care. If I did I'd be "demanding" my 14 months worth of points and tokens when they charge my card. But they are making valid points about this. -
Quote:So what are people paying a subscription to get now that there is more than just monthly access for the payment? Can they just not give the 400 points since they aren't being paid for and are free?I don't see what the issue is. After the first time this happens you'll be receiving your points on a consistent monthly basis.
You're really making a big deal out of nothing. And your example above doesn't apply because you're not paying for the free 400 points. -

Quote:And therein lies the entirety of the issue for those wondering.Given that digital purchases, whether downloads or subscriptions, are typically expected to be immediate "delivery" on payment, I see no reason why CoH should be different. Would it be acceptable to purchase 400 Paragon Points at the Market and have to wait a week for delivery after payment was approved?
When Freedom launched I bought points for my subscribed account and an old one. I got both points and tokens immediately.
TrueGentleman's point is valid. If they take your money on the 5th you should get your points and tokens due after that payment transaction not on some later date. This should absolutely be the case for people automatically paying each month just as it would be for someone manually re-upping each month. -
Quote:The points and tokens are new additions and I hadn't considered the implication of my pre-paying each year until this. I'm probably better off getting them budgeted out to me each month but you do make a good case.Generally, when one buys something, one usually gets what you've paid for at the time you pay for it, no?
Of course, if it's laid out clearly at the time you buy it, on the page where you pay, that it's spread out over a time period, then that's fair enough. If it DOESN'T, then UK law at least requires that you should receive all you paid for at the time you paid for it. -
Quote:That actually is a good point but do you mean that as an annual subscriber should get all my 14 months' points in 2 weeks when the next payment goes?Just a point I'd like to make, these things are NOT a stipend. A stipend is a form of salary and that's absolutely NOT what these are.
They're a paid for item that we get as part of our month subscription, and as such, it should, by rights, be allocated on the day our subscription is paid.
Not that I'm anything other than mildly annoyed by the delay or anything, though I do roll my eyes at their lack of programming ability to issue the things when people pay their subs. -
Quote:So are you looking for people to do the work so you can door sit and level up?<-- Extremely PO'd player. Where have they all gone? And before you all go "LOLGOPLAYTHEGAMENOOB" I pay my money for VIP, I choose HOW I want to play. My question is why is there a lack of farming? Maybe it's because there is now 501234123314 AP's? Why was that done again? Really?

Quote:I see your problem. You believe part of the $15 is buying a server transfer token you don't want rather than it being a bonus freebie that you don't want. You are right, it is a poor analogy - part of my $15 sub goes toward that server transfer, so it isn't as free as the flaming bag of poo... But then again, you are paying for that poo with the punch
.
If you think a bonus free thing you don't want is even remotely related to flaming bags of poo on your porch that's your problem. -

4 is normally enough. I rarely get bounced around with just one of those.

Quote:I am waiting for people's reviews of powersets plus a couple weeks of potential live tweaking before I buy them.Yup, I tried to check out StJ on Beta when I had the time in my schedule, but I'm a Mac user so I got bent over. It's for this reason I decided to pass on spending 800 points on something I might not like. I'm going to horde my points for Staff fighting and/or Titan weapons and cross my fingers that Mac users won't get shafted in beta when those come out.
Besides after the initial rush they could go on sale in a few months. -
Quote:would it be fair to say the tl;dr version is "Nerfs/buffs happen"?I cannot agree. Saying *by rule* the devs must release all numerical powerset information to the players prior to the set being offered for sale implies strongly that the players are actually paying for *those numbers* which then opens the door to players demanding refunds if the powerset is changed from those numbers in any way they find disagreeable. I would strongly recommend Paragon Studios not open that pandora's box.
Its one thing for the numbers to just happen to be available, just like all other powersets are, with the same understanding they are subject to change just like all other numbers are. Like oh say in the character creator screen, perhaps. But once you say its an obligation to release numbers, and you set up a specific system for releasing those numbers that goes beyond what the game automatically allows for all other powers, you cross the line into territory that frankly I would prefer not have to witness the fallout of.
No MMO player has the right to expect that any specific element of the game will not change, particularly powers. If you can't handle that at all, you shouldn't play MMOs. If you can handle that in theory, but not for powersets you purchase separately, you shouldn't purchase powersets. Anything else is impractical. -

Quote:14 hours, not 2.I hate to disagree, but it was quickly announced. It was announced less than 2 hours before they did it. Usually maintenance is done at 7am or 9 am EST, not 11 EST and usually announced the evening before. Seems like something that just came up this morning. Now we probably do not know why, but I asked because sometimes it is a reported problem (like 100 people reported something wrong with Street Justice after it was released, etc. or suddenly nobody could launch a BAF trail)

I am trying to decide which pair of tights I will wear tonight.
