Quote:I just keep things simple and blame Posi for everything even if it isn't related in any way to City of Heroes. From what I heard Posi was the last one to answer that question so blame him.
/hits phase shift
Gas prices? Posi.
Poor donut selection in the cafeteria? Posi.
I caught a cold? Posi.
I'd blame States but Posi killed him disguised as Wade. -
Quote:Too late now. you know us nuts on the internet. That does NOT mean it's being released on the 29th. All I know is it's not today, and it's not tomorrow. Anything after that is fair game, so I have to hurry up and finish this damn thing ASAP.

Quote:+1If by "messing with", you mean snapping up the recipes and crafting them for later use, yeah. People used those reward merits from the super packs to buy level 20 Miracle uniques and level 25 Luck of the Gambler +recharge. I've bought and crafted a pile of each.
Eventually people will use up enough of the Super Pack Reward Merits and the prices will go up. -

Quote:"Realised their toons are completely unusable"Zwillinger, I'm VIP so this doesn't affect me, but I know several people who have logged in as premiums, realised their toons are completely unusable and given up.
Is it possible to find out why the decision was taken as it was to render IOs useless, rather than allowing them to give their enhancement bonuses (scaled down a bit if you want) but no set bonuses, thus leaving the toons playable.
Really? Seriously? No "slap in the face"? Surely you can come up with more absurd hyperbole than "completely unusable"?
As an alternative I offer the following which would be an actually true statement:
"...who have logged in as premiums and realised that they had slotted IOs in all their powers so now they had unenhanced powers and insuffiecient influence to get SOs for all their powers and found their gameplay completely unsatisfactory."
And yes, that does stink. But when you guys fly off the handle with absurd hyperbole you end up dealing with people pointing out how ridiculous it sounds instead of working towards resolving the real problem. -
Quote:Unfair? So before you couldn't play your character at all if you didn't pay but you think it is unfair for them to expect you to pay something to play at a certain level?I realize that. But even some older players or even much younger players are now going to have to pay or play for an EXTREMELY long period of time just to use their good enhancements. Some young players aren't allowed by their parents to pay even for that little money. Think about it. You can't tell me this doesn't seem a little unfair, even if you had to pay before and I realize that too.
I think the only one being unfair here is you expecting something for nothing. -

Quote:No nerdrage here but if I have 800 pp to blow, I'd rather get a lot of other things.Waiting for the nerdrage posts that the Alignment Change tokens are too expensive.
I am saving my nerdrage for when they finally unleash enhancement converters onto the market. There is no way they will price those where it won't be too high and too low at the same time. -
I would never buy one and have never gotten a purple drop or Incarnate shard on my fire/fire brute (+0/x8) when one is active.
Then when not active and I was getting 2 shards per mission and at least one purple per hour.
Of course random is random but I would never buy a windfall for the 25% inf increase. -
I'd probably like them more if it didn't seem like I mostly get Reward Merits on the Common, Uncommon, Rare and Very Rare rolls.
I mean I have 264 of the x25 Reward Merits already. -
Quote:I wish they would take the time to change this already. It's a judgement call that happens to be wrong, and is rooted in some of the old evils that "classic" RPGs and MMOs used to come standard with. One of the things an old MMO will teach you is that not all shops buy your stuff for the same price, and you'll generally get more for it in a shop that deals with that particular type of item. If multiple shops sell the same items, you'll generally get the best deal in the shops that specialise in those items. That's why he SOs you sell to the "wrong" stores, you sell at half price and the ones you sell at those "buy only" vendors in Croatoa or the Shadow Shard or to vendors standing out in the open can be sell for as little as a tenth of the price.
Why it existed in old RPGs and MMOs I can't really say. I guess it's for the sake of realism from a time before game developers had a good sense of which parts of reality to keep and which to leave out, like needing to eat food with every step in early Ultima games or drop dead. Because contacts are not specialised stores, their prices are "worse" for it. And because contacts started selling enhancements a LONG time ago before the studio resolved to stop time-sinking its players, that's not a good way to buy.
If you want a practical answer to this, it's because stores used to only sell "Power 10" enhancements, which was a collection of 10 enhancements deemed the most popular, with all others becoming available MUCH later or at a lower Tier. Contacts, at one point, were selling non-Power-10 enhancements as soon as the corresponding Power 10 became available, but sold them at a higher cost to compensate for this.
In short, it's a legacy system built around impeding players and providing a time and money sink. -
Quote:On the other hand if you have the time and interest, that's a lot of bosses to defeat in that mission for drops/prestige/influence.I tend to avoid the ones that send me to another zone. I avoid ones with lots of DE if I am running a controller sometimes. I avoid knives of artemis if I can. Etc. I definitely ignore one good spider because it is tedious.
I think it is at least 10 or 11 of them. I'll have to count next time I do it. -

Quote:Perry Mason will have us supeonaed and grill us and it will turn out the spammer/lowlife will be acquitted and we will be convicted.Exactly.
When I got the "What seems to be the problem?" the first time, I thought--"Crap, somehow I summoned an actual GM! I must have filled the form out differently somehow." When the second GM showed up, there was cursing and palm-face-application.
Thank you for letting me all know that I'm not crazy. Why can't we just report trolls and move on like we used to? Now we need to go down to the courthouse and testify? Hell no.
Stupid Perry Mason. -
I am a little bit choosy. I hate a couple of the missions a lot so when I see them I dismiss them.
Sometimes I dismiss them if they try to send me to a zone I don't want to go. -
Quote:Yep, same thing happened to me a month or two ago. I reported a RMT spammer on Exalted and got a GM visit. What the hell? Paragon has access to _server logs_, and they want GMs to cross-examine players who are trying to be helpful by filing petitions?
In another MMO I've been playing much more regularity because of all the problems with CoH Freedom, when I've filed petitions, I've received polite and professional acknowledgements from GMs, not the Spammish Inquisition.
I was thinking "didn't you read the ticket?" -
Quote:No, the set bonuses remain.I have a question or two about superior-grade ATOs to ask.
Normal ATO's are available from level 10 to 50 and are attuned, so not only do the magnitudes of the enhancements from the pieces scale with level, but also the set bonuses are available all the way down to level 7 from exemping. If one uses a catalyst to create the superior version of the set, it's now only available at level 50, and so the attuned property (if it even keeps that?) doesn't do anything. From that, I think the normal enhancement magnitude exemping rules should come into play. Do they?
Then, other superior sets (non ATO purples) continue to provide their bonuses even when exemped down below level 50 -- which I consider to be one of the main draws of a purple. Do the "(Superior)" versions of ATOs behave the same? If I upgrade my ATO from normal to superior, are they becoming nearly worthless for exemping?
The downsides to upgrading them to Superior are:
* they become account locked (no trading, no selling, no emailing except to your own account)
* once they are Superior even though you can email them to an alt on your account, only a level 50 can slot them.
* while you cannot slot a regular version of an ATO and a superior version, they do form different set bonuses so as the OP discovered he basically removed one of the ATOs from his regular set by doing that.
So the only level 50 aspect of making an ATO superior is you can only slot it on a 50. -
Quote:But revenue is only half of the equation for determining profit. As long as they feel they make enough profit the game will be fine. That was my thought as well. It doesn't quite help the game's yearly revenue much which is still at its lowest.
Code:Year Avg Exchange Sales KWon Sales USD 2004 1102.17935 31,475 27,607,023 2005 1043.65467 34,265 33,199,783 2006 952.37930 25,016 25,770,998 2007 922.05946 23,446 25,059,657 2008 1365.35609 24,217 22,335,820 2009 1172.12370 22,909 17,760,819 2010 1135.05837 15,787 13,564,705 2011 1147.87098 12,089 10,881,574
Which is interesting because with GR, people would've only spent maybe $30 or $40 above their sub fees that quarter but it got higher reveneues than from the Freedom store where people state they spent 100s of dollars.
It'll be interesting to see 1Q 2012's numbers if this is a sustainable increase instead of a single revenue boost, especially with having super packs for a revenue source.
* Oops, disregard the exchange rates...got lazy with cut/paste. Those are actually average rates for 4Q of that year only. But the USD value is summed from each quarter so that should be somewhat fine. Sorry.
GR required putting boxes on shelves. Putting new boxes on shelves is going to constantly cost. Freedom required them to create the Paragon Market mechanics which once created they can use for all kinds of products.
Also a box on the shelf might cost us $40 but how much of that did NCSoft get? I would think less than 50% of it. Barring some weird deal they get 100% of what we buy in the Paragon Market (less the credit card transaction fees). -
Are you kidding? I don't think some people are ever going to let those go. Which I would like to ask those people "aren't you glad that is the worst thing that has ever happened to you in your entire life?"
-
Will it slot into Gang War? Not that I am excusing the complaint. I am just trying to figure out if it can help there.

Quote:Each one mentions the Archetype in the name except for the Kheldian's Grace (Peacebringers and Warshades) and Dominion of Arachnos (any type of Arachnos VEAT).How do I know what AT they are good for? They don't mention any AT and just have a title and what they enhance. I got a Dominion of Arachnos. Is that only good toward the villain epic ATs? Just don't want to claim it on my hero and not be able to email to a character that can use it.
If you claim one and it isn't what you want you can email it to your global name and pick it up with the character you want to have it.
