When DP is up on my em/regin, there's simply nothing that can kill me. I think if you're a good stalker and you can get perma DP, you should be pretty much unkillable. With MoG, phase, and hibernoob, I havent missed shadow meld at all, when it comes to survivability.

Quote:Good luck enforcing that. You're right, it's not realistic to have such insanely specific rules. It's pretty much guaranteed to cause controversy and huge hassles for the people in charge, having to review each match because both sides claim the other should forfeit because some guy did or didn't walk one yard at one point in the match.The re-spawning player is considered fair game once he moves from the re-spawn point. If the target uses any powers that affect other players (allied or enemy) he will be considered "in play" and fair game, regardless of whether or not the target has moved from the re-spawn point/is affectable. The player in question will be considered in play and fair game if he/she does not move from the spawn point within 10 seconds of dieing. Camping hibernate is not considered spawn camping and is a valid tactic.
In any other game, spawn camping is just part of the game. It may be annoying, but like you said, just don't get farmed. Perhaps teams simply need to develop strategies to control their spawn points to avoid the other team camping them. That sounds like an easier solution than making up 30 different rules about who can move where in what amount of time. -
Quote:Eh, it was incredibly easy to get out of, as long as it wasn't in some tiny area like the office map or something. Plus something like 4 small BF's got you out of it too.Meh, I remember being tk'd into corners or under certain geometry back in i12, it was rather annoying.
The only really annoying thing was the TK bug Darth Ronin abused and made popular. The one that caused a permanent falling animation on the target, meaning he lost the ability to take any action whatsoever until he died. -
I agree, I don't understand how people can watch this crap. It puts me to sleep in like 1 minute. Can't even tell what the hell is happening most of the time.
Playing in the matches was fun. Watching them is just annoying. -
What does defender TK do again? Is it a perma hold or something?
-
Yes it's very viable. EM is as good as gets, and regen is #2 behind WP in most people's opinions.

Quote:Fire blast is still good (probably #2), but psy/em is the current thing, because of the broken placate proc.What's new as far as the flavors now? I figure fire/ blast has gone by the wayside, emp/pain/therm is still popular, melee is still lol, and mezzes are king now I hear?
Elec/therm is the top dueling build, because it's insanely easy to run someone out of end and blues in a 10 minute match.
Buffers/healers are still useful, but not nearly as popular as before. Whereas before you could expect every third player in a zone to be some sort of buffer, now you'd be lucky to have 1 out of 10 be a buffer. Even buff sets often forgo their buffs for a pure solo build. The entire game revolves around damage now, so people try to maximize that.
Melee is still lol, but mostly because of how easy it is to play, not because it's useless like before. For example, a tank is capable of blaster level burst damage....from range. Not something to lol at. But people do still lol, because most melee players are just really bad.
Lastly, yes, mezzes are king. There's zero skill in using them though. Everybody does the same exact thing, because it's what works. First you knock someone down....then you use either a hold or preferably stun. Then they're dead, because there is no possible thing they can do the entire time. Essentially ALL skill is removed from the mez system. As a mezzer, you just use your 2 powers in the same order every time, and you get the same exact results every time. As a person getting mezzed, literally your only hope is that the mezzer is NOT on a coordinated team, and if he isn't, then you hope that you have enough time to phase or hibernate the split second his mez drops, because it's your only chance.
In summary, this game sucks. -
My friend told me that an elec/MM blaster is the hero equivalent right now, because blaster drain psyche is completely broken.
If you want to play an end drainer heroside, that's probably your best bet.
You really shouldn't make an /elec just to avoid being droned. It's so inferior to some other sets in actual PvP, the tp immunity just isn't enough to make it competitive. -
It's a completely different game from what you remember. Much much worse than what we had before, but still playable in some forms. Competitive PvP was turned into a total joke though, so nobody really takes it seriously anymore. People just do zone PvP and some kickballs. No serious teams, I think.

I blame the devs. I really think this community was more friendly before I13. But all the friendly people got **** on, so they left the game. So all that's left are really bitter players.
At least I personally noticed a pretty clear trend. Before I13, the general PvP theme was "PvP is kinda stupid and broken, but it's fun. Hopefully they'll make some changes one day to make it better".
Now it's more like "This game is a joke. Too bad there's nothing else out there. Guess I'll go and **** with some people now....it sure beats actually playing the game." -
Ok, who the hell is this Poned person?

Quote:Sometimes it's just easier to use hibernate than phase. Like you're low on health, and people are after you, and you just click hiber to be 100% safe. No need to worry about others phasing after you, or popping greens, etc.Since any good stalker will always be taking Stealth and Invis, please enlighten me as to why I should waste a valuable power slot on hiber.
Also, sometimes rest isn't recharged -
Dark is only good for fight club, which is a laughable form of PvP.
For normal zone PvP, go with fire, MA, BS, or spines. Probably in that order. /elec isn't that great by the way, but it's not totally horrible anymore. -
As you may have heard, I pretty much just use SO's, and I slot all my toons like this.
SJ = 2 end, 2 jump
SS = 2 end, 2 run
With 1 extra slot for a stealth IO....usually in SJ for me.
CJ I usually don't even take. -

Yeah, glue doesn't have -fly, only -jump. But any half-competent TA will have entangling arrow on you too, which does have -fly.
-
It's working as intended. It's also an autohit ranged AoE. Yes, it's very annoying. But as long as you have super speed, it's not going to kill you.

While the old system was pretty bad, it at least took skill. Today's system is just lame, because it's extremely one dimensional. There's no skill. Just use a couple powers in the same order every time, and no matter what, the same thing happens. Wonderful.
