Dueling on tanks is lol. If either person has half a brain, they can't possibly die.
So yes, you can be a good tauntbot for teams, and you can also do well in zones. Leave the fight club stuff for the bad players. -
Quote:Wow, your logic is simply infallible. I have an analogy. The reason we have pollution is not a side effect of the factories and cars. It was actually the goal all along....to have a lot of pollution. Because hey, we have pollution, right? So that means it was intended, right? As far as a quote well the intial results of I13 speak for themselves. Test league go boom!? .
Man, you don't just reinvent PvP. You also reinvent logic and reality too, huh?
Simple logic lesson for you: Just because something happened, doesn't mean it was intended. Usually they teach this kind of stuff around kindergarden level, but you were probably too busy being an all-knowing old-school PvP'er in CoH to pay attention. -
Yeah, either get tactics or weapons mastery. You don't need fighting on a "regan". Replace that with either concealment (preferable) and also get weapons mastery OR get tactics and keep trowing fire.
-
Yeah, you're right. The reason PvP has problems is because of the advice we've been giving since I13, not because of the actual changes that happened then. Makes sense. How could anybody doubt your knowledge?
-
Quote:That's nice in theory. In reality what happens is a person makes a horrible toon, comes to the forums asking about it, gets told by you that yeah, that toon will be just fine.....spends months leveling it and IO'ing it.....then finally tries to PvP on it and gets owned....not because he's a bad player, but because he's a new player playing a really bad toon that even a good player would have trouble on. He says "man this PvP sucks", and leaves the game.Progress!
It's fair to assume that those who come to the boards looking for advice don't know as much as the people that are here to help. I think it's also fair to say that it is better to encourage these players to do the same as the Vets. It's how I leraned.. it's how you learned. Doing the opposite contributes to what I consider to be a dumbing down of the PvP community.
That's not what we want. -
Eh, I think there really may be some issue with it. Because I remember as far as like 2-3 years ago, I had trouble breaking taunt, where I would actually stand in another room with nobody around me, and taunt would not drop. And it was on the tech lab map. On ALL other maps I never had any issues with it. Considering people are still talking about the same issue 2-3 years later, perhaps there really is an issue.

Quote:Of course it's possible. It's also possible to drive a Geo Metro in a Formula 1 race. And a really good driver could perhaps even win, if he's going against 10 year old kids that have never driven a car before.Ignoring the fact that it IS indeed possible to make things work... if you become good.
But when a new driver comes in and asks "hey, what kind of car should I drive in this Formula 1 race?", you tell them that basically any car will do, which is just not true. He definitely needs a good car to stand a chance.
Now if it was a top player asking for the advice, you'd have a point. But a top player wouldn't ask for the advice in the first place, so it doesn't matter.
Also, I don't "believe what others tell me". I've PvP'd in this game longer than pretty much everybody else left on these forums. Yes, longer than Conflict, barrier, and all the others. I don't need to listen to what anybody says to have an opinion. The reason I like those guys is because I know I can count on them to not mis-educate any new players, but to tell it like it is. -
lol you talk like I13 affected us in some way we can't get over. Guess what genius...we're still good players, just like we were before I13. Yeah, the game is worse, but it's ok because we still win. You're still horrible and do nothing but die any time you set foot in a zone. But hey, congrats on not being affected by I13. You've "adjusted" from a bad player to a bad player. You should make some more posts about it, so you can "educate" everybody.

Quote:lol hyper....this just about sums it up.Actually, it's more a matter of different values and definitions, not a different system altogether. Strengths and weaknesses remain the same. The roles of each AT remain the same.
The last sentence is just....wow. Has this guy even played this game? -

He was talking about a hypothetical scenario that barrier suggested, where 2 AS's WOULD drop a tank. Which I agree, would be a bit much. That would mean 1 AS would basically own any squishy, and we'd be back to stalkers 1 shotting everything. Stalkers need help, but not that much.

DUH! Con could do really well with a dual blades / dark brute too, or a dark/ice tank. Doesn't mean those are good toons. It means he's a good player. Good players can make bad toons work. But the fact remains - with good toons, they'd make them work even better.
-
Hey I have an idea. How about Con gets his trapper toon and duels this nub on his? Eh? EH?
-
Quote:lol you've already been told otherwise by more than 1 person. But hey, you keep on thinking that you're in the right, and we're all working together and have made it our goal to create a group dedicated to insulting you.
I don't think I am the one that comes across as stupid in my posts Max...
Hell, I don't even talk trash to anybody on here. Ever. But you say such stupid stuff, even a nice guy like me has to chime in. -
No, you don't need tough and weave. You definitely need SS more. And without leaping, you will be extremely limited in your movement, so you need that too.
The solution is to drop fighting. -
In addition to that, I also have used TP+fly in PvP. In fact, I had that setup on like 90% of my toons from I13 to like I15. I had very good success with it. But Con and I both still stand by our comments about it not being as good as SS+SJ.
Please don't ignore this post, or the one above it Dahjee. It contains important information, which will allow you to sound less stupid in your future posts. -
Another thing to note is that the devs deny the above information. They claim the drop rate is many times better. They've even gone as far as flat out calling players in the community liars after test results were presented. The dev information has been conclusively proven to be false (in the PvP league that's going on, there were like 2 drops for many hundreds of kills, before people just stopped counting), but they are ignoring all questions regarding it.
(our dev team is awesome) -

Quote:Well, it's not a horrible idea per-se. It's actually a really good idea. It just can't work in this joke of a community...you're probably right on that. The game's been out way too long, and some people have gotten way too large of egos to play for a team that actually has a chance of losing. This would be a horrible idea...you think the drama we had now was bad. Wait till you get a bunch of people together with huge egos that don' t really want to play together. It would just end up being really ugly. Picture this...me and barrier ending up on the same team. lolz

Why not make a season 2 with ALL players being drafted? That's how it should have been done from the start.
Take the whole pool of people signed up. Assign each player a monetary value based on opinions from several knowledgeable members of the community. Assign each team an equal budget to spend on players. Then have a draft.
After competition died in Unreal Tournament, this type of league was started, and it had like 10 seasons....all of them very successful.
The only problem is that people will not necessarily be playing with their bff's, but with whoever ends up on their team. Not sure if the people in this community can handle that.
And the other thing is that, of course, it will take some real effort to get everything set up, since each player has to be ranked/rated. But after this league, I have a feeling that most people will have a pretty good idea about how good who is....at least of the people that participated in season 1. And I highly doubt there will be many new people in season 2 that did NOT play in season 1. -

Powers have been banned in PvP before. It's done only when deemed absolutely necessary by the community as a whole. It may piss off a few individuals, but it's for the greater good.
The whole reason is that the devs aren't fixing any glaring bugs and issues. So the players have to take things into their own hands. This happens in all competitive games where there's little to no support from the developers. Rules are made and the game is essentially changed by the community itself. -
Regins may be unkillable, but they also can't really kill anybody good. They're just an annoyance. You can just web them, and keep doing what you were doing.
(i felt like holding hands today) -
The AoE toggle isn't really necessary, since there's no AoE in PvP for the most part. Everything else is good.
-
That thread is only a month old. And the build was posted by macskull. He's one of the few guys around here that gives good advice pretty much 100% of the time. So yes, it should work. Ranged damage is what you're gonna be worried about, not lol melee, and definitely not AoE.
(no, mids doesn't show DR)
