PvP slows

Im thinking about building a charecter that would rely on slows for his pvp kills, like back in the good old days

However after hearing the way the pvp works now, i was wondering how much slow percentage you actually need to slow down someone nowadays. Im talking about a typical PvPer in a zone, which would use superspeed, possibly swift and/or lightning reflexes or some other similar boost and may have them slotted for run speed. Can anyone give me a rough estimate as to how much percentage slow I would actually need so i can attempt to work on something?

If a person has super speed, you can't slow them down at all anymore. The only thing you can slow is their recharge. Movement slows were basically eliminated from the game in I13.

Wow, and now I'm sad. I had an Ice Control/Cold Domination Controller just for movement slows...

there's ways to slow like in i12.

an ice/cold troller is a good way to start figuring them out.

Not even in the slightest even with slow enhancements?

Wow thats surprising, I was expecting to have to sacrifice damage in order to get a decent slow now but the fact its not working at all its a very big letdown.

Ahh just read this one, any idea of a rough percentage of slow though that you would need to hit to start slowing down? for instance like 179.2% slow like glue arrow slotted with 3 level 50 IO's etc stacked with something else? just so i can get a rough idea of how much slow i should be aiming to stack.

I dont plan on making a cold/ice charecter, although i would probably take one of them and change the other, its just more out of curiosity to see if it can be done with other powers, particularly to keep them in wide area effects like rain of fire or something like that.

Slows were broken pre i13. Melee, especially were in big trouble with slows, unless you were an Ice/ tanker or a stalker. Slows do not stack like they used to. i13 took care of that. However no one is immune to movement slows. I have been slowed (movement, and yes, super speed slowed) on my Ice/ tanker in RV, something which I find very odd. There are ways to slow people's movement. I think this issue will be fixed also, at least for Ice/ as it makes no sense why an Ice/ tanker will be movement slowed. So, like black barrier said, there are ways to slow people, and yes, you can still slow peoples recharge.

Repeat Offenders forever !

Make all IO's available in Paragon Market! NCSoft, the chinese are making BIG money selling influence and other stuff in the game. Best way to stop them = make the paragon market a place to buy all IO's and perhaps other things as well.

Eh...considering there's like 1 total good ice/cold troller in the game (mage), something tells me it's not that great. Seriously, I don't think I've seen a single one in zones in like a year. If it was really very effective, we'd hear about more than one total person in the game playing it.

Its rare I say this but I actually agree with you here.

A few times now I've found effective PvP charecters now through dumb luck that arent favorite of the month builds. Its amazing how many players make blasters just because 'the forums say there awesome in pvp' and not actually have any idea of how to play them.

I have been slowed myself a couple of times in arena duels, but that wasnt at a decent level to deem it viable in pvp (level 30 arena duels with sg). Im not naive enough to think because it works at level 30 it will work at level 50. However I was curious if anyone had any specific numbers as to how much slow you would actually need before they actually do slow down.

If you really want advice on it, you may want to ask Mirage Mage, the guy who posted here a few posts up, in private. Pretty sure he's the undisputed best ice/cold in CoH at this point, and there are probably some things he doesn't want to share on the public forums.

Thanks for the advice il look him up

No one is immune to recharge or movement slows, some are just more immune than others. Slows were not broken pre-I13 (a case could be made for slows being broken in duels, but then it was a matter of what builds the duelers were using and how they were being played):

* Kins could give an entire team slow resist
* Emps could give one teammate slow resist

Neither of those powersets were uncommon pre-I13. These days movement slows are laughable unless you can stack a lot of them (hello, Ice/Cold) but recharge slows are still very potent.

You forget, though, no one plays squishies in zones because of the retarded ruleset.
