  1. Lordy! I'd offer to buy them. You save those things when you can.

  2. Is it just me, or does this sound like a powerset would have a ranged and melee attack early on? Say like two other superhero MMO's out there?

  3. Well, the issue of temps can be easily solved by going here:

....okay, but I just had to do it.....

  4. Actually, when the pack was released, there was a mention of precisely that, being the simian and reptiles. The mention of this other pack was quickly edited out of the initial release.

It's possible that the future Doctor does know what's going to happen because he remembers it happening to his past self. I cite his Time Crash special featuring Five and Ten as evidence. Ten only knows what to do because he remembers Five watching him doing that.

I suspect Eleven will know what to do because future Eleven has already lived it and solved it. In fact, I'll go a step further and say that future Eleven could be a paradox that needs to be solved by past Eleven putting events in motion.

The cost is that River Song will never live her life with "The Doctor".

On a tangent. If she is married to The Doctor and her last name is Song and she is the child of Rory and Amy then she somewhere changed her last name to Song. So maybe The Doctor's name as they are hinting at has something to do with Song?
That's possible, but Amy being pregnant and River being in the same place should cause a paradox. Which is possible...the question is what the time machine is being built for, and by whom. We now know it exists in 1969 and 2010. So it's been around a while too....and maybe in more than just two locations.

Not unlike the present and future Doctor.

There's a few things to note from this story:

    1) The Doctor is expecting the 'Impossible Astronaut' and ensures that they don't interfere with what happens.

2)200 years of his life are unaccounted for. This means that the Doctor that Rory, Amy and River meet has lived 200 years into the present Doctor's future.

3)The TARDIS someone is building is indeed from the Lodger and the being within it does what The Silent do; they absorb the knowledge and essence of a person and also make them not acknowledge their existence. The Doctor noted that this form of TARDIS was using a perception filter.

4)The Doctor's future self has engineered these events to happen and requires the American ex-FBI to be a part of it.

    5) Aren't the spacesuits ever so reminiscent of the Vashta Nerada from when Ten meets River inititally?

The pieces of the puzzle are there, and I think they've been laid ever since the Library episode, really. It could be a temporal loop, or an attempt to get around a temporal loop. And we still don't know what happens on the Moon.

I'm looking forward to the second part of this, but I just know Moffat will have the mid-season cliffhanger be a doozy...I suspect it'll end with the Doctor's death....

I think anyone who knew her or knew of Sarah Jane did, Michelle. I smiled, I cried, I wondered how Matt Smith and David Tennant and the kids didn't just burst into tears talking about her, and then during the final montage, I just kissed my fingers and touched my screen and said goodbye.

I miss both Sarah and Lis a lot. But I'm also deeply heartened by knowing so many of us know Lis is with friends now, and Sarah Jane...hell, I wish she could regenerate and never leave. But instead, I hope she goes somewhere wonderful.

  10. ANZAC Day is a commemoration of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps service in all conflicts as well as for current serving personnel. This commemorated by a laying of a wreath, the recitation of the Ode, and the playing of the Last Post with a minute's silence. This ceremony will take place in front of the braziers in Atlas Park.

The service will begin proper at 8:15pm EST and conclude at 8:30 EST. Green Taipan will lead the ceremony and be your guide. The Ode is recited by the ceremony leader, but those present are asked to recite the final line after the reciter as a mark of respect. It is as follows:

    They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

A minute's silence will follow the playing of the last post which will be linked to those present.

  11. Troy,

I got #4 yesterday and sat down and read it. I won't spoil it for anyone here, but congratulations for taking the brave route. I especially enjoyed the insert portion and the interesting points you rose about differing opinions and artistic freedom.

What I said before though about seeing TG in another format or setting still holds, though....

Very well done, again. I'll say more when others have commented.

Right now, heroes have 7 ATs to their name: Blaster, Scrapper, Tanker, Defender, Controller, Peacebringer, Warshade

Villains have another 7: Brute, Stalker, Mastermind, Corruptor, Dominator, Arachnos Soldier, Arachnos Widow

Praetorians have 10: Blaster, Scrapper, Tanker, Defender, Controller, Brute, Stalker, Mastermind, Corruptor, Dominator

It's not exactly even, but it's far from one-sided.

    Picky, picky.

10 out of 14 is pretty good going.

Any zone where heroes and vilalins are together, which doesn't have a reason for co-op play or for one side to be working undercover for the other would mean there'd have to be some form of consensual open-world PvP available.
I don't think that'd be a bad thing, and so long as it's controlled in a sane way (that if you flag yourself as not PvP or PvP, or some other measure) it'd be more reflective of what we actually see in comic books. I'm not in favor of open-world PvP because of the abuses that can take place, but hey, I'm open to suggestions.

  14. Yeah. The three specials are referred to as Season 4.5. The End of Time is the big one and is very teary for Tennant's swansong.

  16. That's two paid expansions over seven years, which is pretty significant...I can't see another boxed set coming out that they'd want to produce with development tools that are being aimed towards newer games.

I think if anything we'd see a CoH2 whereby a lot of the wishlists we've had would be able to be done and from the ground up. I actually think GR is the testbed in a lot of ways where there's no City of this or City of that, but just a City of Superpeople, or even a World of Superpeople. GR broke the mold by allowing every powerset to be taken at character creation.

GR also allowed us the flexibility to turn good, bad, vigilante or rogue at character creation. That's the devs looking forward and saying 'alright, let's not factionalise the playerbase, let's let them choose where they're going'.

CoH2 is the next expansion to me, at least.

  17. The more I've read, the more it seems like we feel like we've lost a family member of some kind. I agree with you completely Mindscythe, and it was very nice to hear your sentiments during the UStream yesterday morning.

It's been touching and saddening to see the outpouring of affection for her, and how it's just cut across boundaries. I think the new Who fans know something of how we older fans felt when we lost Jon Pertwee particularly, and dear Patrick Troughton. But she...she's something special.

    Always will be.

  18. The 'all life is transitory' line is probably the most appropriate thing I've seen. It's a day later and I'm still sad, but I'm glad to read Tom Baker's words, and will do my very best to smile and remember her fondly, because I think that's how she thought about us, the fans.

    Bless her, truly.

  19. I didn't want to believe it when I read it just no more than an hour or so ago. The first word out of my mouth when I read the headline courtesy of an email link was 'No.'

I was fond of Nick Courtney as the Brig...but I really did care for Lis Sladen. She was me, the scared little kid hiding from the horrible monsters, but then showing me the courage you could have if you weren't the Doctor and were his companion. And then I fell in love with her all over again with the Sarah Jane Adventures.

I guess the only good thing I can say is that she got to meet and work with just about all of the Doctors, and she made me feel truly connected to the Doctor.

Today is just an unutterably sad day for me. I wish the Doctor could've whisked her away somewhere to be saved...

  20. If the Avengers gets up for a big summer blockbuster and proves to the suits he can play with the big boys, then he'll gain a lot of free rein to do whatever the heck he wants. It's always the way of it; look how Spielberg got to do what he felt like after he proved himself.

  21. Which is why movies tend to work better about these sorts of things. Last live-action show I saw that did any good with this kind of theme was what...wow, I can't think of one off-hand. Kinda scary.

    S.
  22. Surely the issues here are those of NPC pathing and placement? There's very few video games I've played that have 'realistic' layouts as such....I'm presuming the design of these areas are to allow groups to interact in them as well as to allow for mob movement.

I'm no expert, nor am I claiming this is the answer, but that's just a speculation.

  23. I have to again echo everyone's comments; I'll probably get this collected as well because it's one of those rare special beasts in comics that stands untouched by the passage of time. I felt enormously disappointed the next issue after Simonson left and they went back to ludicrous stuff that devalued a lot of went before.

Walt really needs to write more. Maybe one day he'll come back to Thor and make it truly great again.
