  2. Could it be possible the following elements play a factor in 6 & 7?

    Malleus Mundi
    Malaise
    Shadow Shard

SSA#7 comes out in March(?) according to the schedule which possibly aligns with I22 (Death Incarnate)?

I'm not expecting Statesman to stay dead, but instead a master plan using him as a device to cause more problems for us to overcome.

The allies appear to be avatars of the author's friends, which could be confusing to the 5-10% of us who don't play on Virtue. All allies and foes are custom mobs with descriptions and good looking costumes. Every single defeat and glowie gave me a clue; to be honest, I found the plot confusing, but maybe that's just my fault for playing at 3AM with only one pot of coffee. The EB at the end is tough, but 2 EB and 2 boss allies push the odds in your favor.
    To clear up any confusion:
    1) My home server is Guardian and the "guest appearances" are winners from a "Global Character Concept" contest I had over the summer:
BrandX (Virtue) and Aniketos Pium (Freedom) are optional EB Allies and while they provide extra clues to what's going on... will not be discovered unless you click on another optional glowie "This doesn't seem relevant..." which links to other authors arcs I enjoyed (see Architect Souvenir) as well. This will be present in each sequel.

    2) It's an Intro Arc and I'm feverishly working on the sequels that will be 5 missions total with different contacts depending on if you continue as Hero or Vigilante, so it's more getting you introduced to the main characters and providing a hint of what's to come.

    3) The EB at the end is tough, and the arc is intended for Incarnates or very strong builds.

I thank you for the play and feedback and apologize for the confusion, but until I get the sequels complete... I'm afraid it will remain that way. Look forward to returning the favor.

I propose a new resource and attack for Tankers - lets call them 'Stalwart' and 'Stalwart Strike' for now. Stalwart is similar to a Dominator's 'Domination' bar - they fill it up over time. Their own attacks build a little of it, but the lion's share of Stalwart comes from being attacked. Whether an enemy attack hits or misses the Tanker, the Tanker gets a portion of Stalwart.

Stalwart Strike is only usable once the Stalwart Bar has filled and is similar to a ranged attacker's T9 'nuke' in that it deals a very high amount of damage. The exact animation and potential delivery for the strike would vary depending on the Tanker's secondary (I would prefer PBAoE for almost all, but the case could be made for single target or limited cone on some already AoE heavy secondaries).

Using Stalwart Strike drains the Stalwart resource back to zero, and leaves a short-term resistance and defense buff on the Tanker roughly equal to an unslotted Tough+Weave. Tankers that are judicious at hoarding aggro for themselves will find this buff is up a lot of the time - particularly when the tanker is facing large groups.

I feel like this change would greatly help in making Tankers feel more competitive offensively, help reduce the perceived NEED to pick up Tough/Weave (Invul, for instance, would no longer need Tough to cap S/L resist), and reinforces and rewards the Tanking style of play: get that aggro, soak that damage, and put the boot into your enemies.
    Nice idea.
  6. Cool thread.

I saw the suggestions about crashless tier 9s and defiance and it got me thinking (since I never take crashing tier 9s myself)...

How about having the tier 9s be like a "short surge of defiance" of sorts?

    Something like:
    120 second duration (2 minutes)
    Minor crash (-25% Endurance)
Base refresh of 600 seconds (10 minutes) - unaffected by Recharge
    Amplifies Gauntlet Radius (Tankers Only)

Some tier 9s may see a base increase on a certain levels of the following:
    Defense
    Resistance
    Psionic Resistance
    Status Effects (including Fear/Confuse/Slow)
    Damage
    Accuracy
    Recovery
    Regeneration

One problem I could see with this would be Stone Armor's Tier 9. I imagine some are fond of the ability to keep this on at all times or the Granite Form, but I personally could go for change to this (or an alternate tier 9). One suggestion could be to standardize Stone Armor's Tier 9 to follow suit with others as a Click-Power with a minor crash and offer alternate animations that enable you to choose "Granite Armor" visual and a "No Granite Armor" option.

Just initial thoughts as I head off to work.
  7. Well, unless I hear objections from you PW... Paris Holdiay has been injected into "Black as Midnight: Destructive Signs".
  8. Heyaz all. Working on wrapping up the rewrite of my Villain Arc (#1 of 3) and have a request.

Some of you know by now that I like integrating others stuff into mine, and this 1-mission arc lends way to another opportunity for me.

    The scenario:
4 captured villains (low ranking) with bad attitudes able to be freed and possibly help the player. They will be Lieutenant-ranked Allies with powers balanced between 90-100% at level 50.

    My request:
Do you have a supporting (not critically important to you) villain in one of your arcs that I could have dressed like a Zig Prisoner (orange duds) complete with bio?

    If so, can you please:
    a) Direct me to the arc so I can experience an encounter with them.
    b) Possibly create a version of them in orange duds and send me .costume file via Forum Mail? *ask me how to if need be*

Like I said, I'm just about done with the rewrite and would love to add this "Integration" element into it... which means there'd be mention of the arc in the Architect Souvenir.

    Thanx in advance.
  9. Q: Would Standard Group--->Empty instead of grey-conning enemies help more?
  10. I'm just now experiencing Poison on my Beam Rifle/Poison Corruptor (34)... I gotta agree that this set is lacking.

Alternate Animations would be very nice. There's no consistancy where it's emitted from. Visually, it's off-putting.

I could see Neurotoxic Breath having a minor DoT and not be "OMG Poison is overpowered!"

I do enjoy the set so far, but the points brought up here are valid.
  11. Wanted to say here that while PW really went above and beyond with the rewards put forth, in no way do I hope or expect prizes valued over 100 million. If you can only afford or want to give prizes around 5 million, that's 100% cool with me and please don't feel it's inadequate.

I am not trying to make authors pay for plays and ratings here, I'm trying to send a message to the participants that indeed the author is active and understands what they are sacrificing as far as rewards in this "community tool" we call Mission Architect. This is just 1 of 2 hooks I'm trying here to bring more attention to A/E on Guardian.

The other hook is easier to achieve because all the player has to do is meet the requirements to join the theme. Themes have always been successful on Guardian, and I'm hoping to bring it here. A/E is a breath of fresh air from the usual in CoH, but let's face it... it's hard to get teams for A/E and people generally don't like to solo.

Hope that clears anything up here.

Let me just say that I had as much (in some cases, more) fun on the first "Æction Force" on PW's arc as I have on official Task Forces. Even though we only had 4, I still wanted to run it on 8 to make it feel more epic. We had 2 or 3 deaths total and those weren't even during the EB/AV fights. I believe that Dark powers proved their value here for the enemy's To Hit had to be significantly reduced.

As far as the action within, the pacing was beautiful and the first and last outdoor maps did have us running around like usual trying to locate our targets. Since we were pretty much set on wiping out all enemies, this really wasn't a problem since none of the maps were too large. The personalized standard and custom critters were top notch. This was my first experience in this arc and I plan on going back to play it solo with one of my Incarnates to understand the story we rushed through.

    Upon Further Review - 12/21/11

    Overall: 4.40 / Rated: 5 (it's my policy*)

    Story: 4.66
    Logic: 5.00
    Details: 4.75
    Dialogue: 4.25

    Action: 4.25
    Immersion: 3.75
    Flow: 4.25
    Cast: 4.75

    Technical: 4.66
    Presentation: 4.50
    Maps: 4.50
    Balance: 5.00

    Rewards: 4.00

    General Notes (without Spoilers)
    What I didn't like:
    1) Reuse of stock characters in alternate dimension - felt when used, a custom critter would've been more immersive. Specifically on mission 3 and half of 5.
    2) Mission 4 to me was lacking in immersion.

    What I did like:
    1) Lots of detail on bios, etc.
    2) Costumes of custom dimensional counterparts.

    *My Policy:
Who am I to discourage authors who put forth effort with a less than 5 star rating and possibly push them down the list? It may discourage them or those who like their style from finding their creation and trying it out. Is it a flawed approach and misleading to those who go off ratings? Yup, but I feel when you're dealing with a flawed ratings system there's no need to be a flawyer(my word). I'm just 1 audience member in this game and I'd rather see this community grow than fade into oblivion. If the author is curious what they can do to appease this 1 audience member, I hope my ratings per category reflect what I felt needs improving to get me to "spread the word" about their creation.

I guess it would have been cool if I had collaborated this with my Global Costume Contest back in July where I tried to get characters from each server to make "guest appearances" in AE arcs I'm still working on. I'm very happy with what I got, though I didn't get one from each server. Only got 1 of the arcs done, but getting close to 2nd one being complete.

I think the winners of this would be interesting to insert into an possible AE future event that doesn't involve a lot of combat (if any).

    What's an "Æction Force" ?
Æction Forces (AFs) are thematic teams of 8 assembled to tackle Architect Entertainment missions on the Guardian server in the same manner as we do Task Forces: with force.

You read that right. We're gonna bleed it, not read it. This is about getting fast exposure to what mission designers have to offer. If a player comes across an arc they'd like to take the time to read more into later, they'll be encouraged to solo or join the Æ Storyteam later.

    AF Eligible Submissions
    • Any published arc, though "Looking For Feedback" or "Final" is desired.
    AF Author Rewards
    • Since you are requesting players to forgo chance for Superior Recipes/Shards/Threads/Merits/etc., I'm requesting authors/mission designers who want their creation showcased to the Æction Forces to offer additional rewards.
    • 5 Missions: 5 prizes valued at minimum of 1 million INF each.
    • 4 Missions: 4 prizes valued at minimum of 1.25 million INF each.
    • 3 Missions: 3 prizes valued at minimum of 1.7 million INF each.
    • 2 Missions: 2 prizes valued at minimum of 2.5 million INF each.
    • 1 Mission: 1 prize valued at minimum of 5 million INF.
    • Individual prize must equal or exceed the minumum value according to going Auction House price. (2 500k prizes to one person does not qualify as a prize valued at 1 million.)
    • Prize list may consist of individual Salvage, Recipe, Enhancement or Inf.
    • Author Rewards to be sent to @SupaFreak via in-game E-Mail.
    • If no other authors/mission designers express interest during trial period*, Æction Force will transition to Action Force focusing on thematic in-game Task Forces and the Author Rewards will be removed as additional perks.
    Action Authors
    • "Action Authors", or authors who wish to be present on the Æction Force spotlighting them, will have a spot on the team reserved for them in advance.
    • Action Authors will not be eligible for Author Rewards on their own creation.
    • Only 1 Action Author will be scheduled per Æction Force session.
    • Theme will coordinate with an aspect of the Action Author.
    • Author may choose to distribute prizes instead of @SupaFreak.
