What's an "Æction Force" ?
Æction Forces (AFs) are thematic teams of 8 assembled to tackle Architect Entertainment missions on the Guardian server in the same manner as we do Task Forces: with force.

You read that right. We're gonna bleed it, not read it. This is about getting fast exposure to what mission designers have to offer. If a player comes across an arc they'd like to take the time to read more into later, they'll be encouraged to solo or join the Æ Storyteam later.

AF Eligible Submissions
  • Any published arc, though "Looking For Feedback" or "Final" is desired.
AF Author Rewards
  • Since you are requesting players to forgo chance for Superior Recipes/Shards/Threads/Merits/etc., I'm requesting authors/mission designers who want their creation showcased to the Æction Forces to offer additional rewards.
  • 5 Missions: 5 prizes valued at minimum of 1 million INF each.
  • 4 Missions: 4 prizes valued at minimum of 1.25 million INF each.
  • 3 Missions: 3 prizes valued at minimum of 1.7 million INF each.
  • 2 Missions: 2 prizes valued at minimum of 2.5 million INF each.
  • 1 Mission: 1 prize valued at minimum of 5 million INF.
  • Individual prize must equal or exceed the minumum value according to going Auction House price. (2 500k prizes to one person does not qualify as a prize valued at 1 million.)
  • Prize list may consist of individual Salvage, Recipe, Enhancement or Inf.
  • Author Rewards to be sent to @SupaFreak via in-game E-Mail.
  • If no other authors/mission designers express interest during trial period*, Æction Force will transition to Action Force focusing on thematic in-game Task Forces and the Author Rewards will be removed as additional perks.
Action Authors
  • "Action Authors", or authors who wish to be present on the Æction Force spotlighting them, will have a spot on the team reserved for them in advance.
  • Action Authors will not be eligible for Author Rewards on their own creation.
  • Only 1 Action Author will be scheduled per Æction Force session.
  • Theme will coordinate with an aspect of the Action Author.
  • Author may choose to distribute prizes instead of @SupaFreak.

SupaFreak's Comments
Let me just say that I had as much (in some cases, more) fun on the first "Æction Force" on PW's arc as I have on official Task Forces. Even though we only had 4, I still wanted to run it on 8 to make it feel more epic. We had 2 or 3 deaths total and those weren't even during the EB/AV fights. I believe that Dark powers proved their value here for the enemy's To Hit had to be significantly reduced.

As far as the action within, the pacing was beautiful and the first and last outdoor maps did have us running around like usual trying to locate our targets. Since we were pretty much set on wiping out all enemies, this really wasn't a problem since none of the maps were too large. The personalized standard and custom critters were top notch. This was my first experience in this arc and I plan on going back to play it solo with one of my Incarnates to understand the story we rushed through.

Upon Further Review - 12/21/11

Overall: 4.40 / Rated: 5 (it's my policy*)

Story: 4.66
Logic: 5.00
Details: 4.75
Dialogue: 4.25

Action: 4.25
Immersion: 3.75
Flow: 4.25
Cast: 4.75

Technical: 4.66
Presentation: 4.50
Maps: 4.50
Balance: 5.00

Rewards: 4.00

General Notes (without Spoilers)
What I didn't like:
1) Reuse of stock characters in alternate dimension - felt when used, a custom critter would've been more immersive. Specifically on mission 3 and half of 5.
2) Mission 4 to me was lacking in immersion.

What I did like:
1) Lots of detail on bios, etc.
2) Costumes of custom dimensional counterparts.

*My Policy:
Who am I to discourage authors who put forth effort with a less than 5 star rating and possibly push them down the list? It may discourage them or those who like their style from finding their creation and trying it out. Is it a flawed approach and misleading to those who go off ratings? Yup, but I feel when you're dealing with a flawed ratings system there's no need to be a flawyer(my word). I'm just 1 audience member in this game and I'd rather see this community grow than fade into oblivion. If the author is curious what they can do to appease this 1 audience member, I hope my ratings per category reflect what I felt needs improving to get me to "spread the word" about their creation.

Wanted to say here that while PW really went above and beyond with the rewards put forth, in no way do I hope or expect prizes valued over 100 million. If you can only afford or want to give prizes around 5 million, that's 100% cool with me and please don't feel it's inadequate.

I am not trying to make authors pay for plays and ratings here, I'm trying to send a message to the participants that indeed the author is active and understands what they are sacrificing as far as rewards in this "community tool" we call Mission Architect. This is just 1 of 2 hooks I'm trying here to bring more attention to A/E on Guardian.

The other hook is easier to achieve because all the player has to do is meet the requirements to join the theme. Themes have always been successful on Guardian, and I'm hoping to bring it here. A/E is a breath of fresh air from the usual in CoH, but let's face it... it's hard to get teams for A/E and people generally don't like to solo.

Hope that clears anything up here.
