  1. Having raised every tanker there is to 50 except for elec, Id say for agro holding and general tanking ability its invul/fire or dark/fire. Invul pretty much holds all the agro you need in melee range and can take the hits as well, the downside is you have a psy hole in the build but thats easily blocked with psy resists IO's.

Dark, whilst costing a buttload in endurence, has 3 toggles you can use vs melee range enemies, two of which are excellent control/mitigation powers. On top of this you have a heal that will completely refill your hp when used in a mob. Its not the flat out best at taking hits since its a heal reliant charecter against tougher mobs but its heal is amazing and you got a lot of mitigation power plus you have no proper hole in your build.

Fire secondary because it has a 4 PBAoE or AoE powers (inc taunt) which mean your going to keep anyone in melee range and deal damage as well because of gauntlet, slotting a taunt IO in these powers is just overkill.

Ice was the squishiest tank I leveled out of the lot... at the point of getting IO sets im sure its going to be pretty good but at that point everything else is too. Shield is pretty much in the same boat, defence isnt reliable to tank with simple as, your relying on luck to whether you get hit plus autohit powers destroy you in seconds. Fire is squishy for a tanker as well, WP isnt bad really but to me it just seems a more rounded version of invul, in exchange for more regen you lose resists and defence and gain a +rec power, at one point back on union me and a friend compared invul and wp in a +4 mob basically just taunting a mob at the same time and seeing who lived longer with just there primary powers alone. Invul won.

Stone is way overrated... what people fail to mention is without granite active your defence/resists suck more than any other tanker, with it on your speed and damage drop considerably, this usually means you have to rely on hasten and teleport to get around it which not everyone can use effectively. For instance, your trying to hold agro from a tough mob, but with granite on one of these mobs runs off to hit your blaster, what do you do if taunt isnt holding well enough? You cant run at them without granite on because the tougher mob will pretty much flatten you without it, if you teleport theres a good chance you will overshoot on a fair amount of maps, if you move without it your going to take ages to actually get there as well. Whilst stone is undoubtably the best at taking hits, its by no means the best tank at all, tanking is more than being hit in the face and being able to take it and thats what a lot of newer tankers fail to see.

If you wanted sheer ability to take hits though stone/dark with granite on perma is pretty much the best hit taker in game. Ice is over rated and always has been. On +4s my stone/dark tanker barely dropped hp after sets at all if it did you had two heals to cover it one of which is an attack plus you have -tohit on every attack which helps keep your defencive ability at max even against harder mobs.

So judging from the first line thats a no despite the fact the names arent trademarked?
  3. hey guys,

I have a general idea for what I want to make in an AE mission, but I cant find anywhere any rules that tell you whether or not if you are allowed to use real life names of a famous person in there or not. Since customer service have passed it along to a senior advisor as normal and arent going to get back to me anytime soon i figured it was easier to ask here than wait for a generic response to my question.

Can someone tell me if this would get my arc blocked or not?

I was looking at the naming policy and it doesnt directly state famous persons are not allowed. However I also know the old celebrity farm map isnt on anymore either, I dont know if its been banned or what.

If there is a link to AE creation rules and I simply missed it can someone link me up please?

    envenomed dagger rules
  5. Depending on how much you want to spend, broadsword is a very nasty one to fight in fiteklub rules, since you can slot every attack with chance for -res proc which hits fairly regularly if its on every power.
Resists debuffs combined with broadswords heavy single target damage means it can knock hp down pretty heavily before others even get started.

Claws would be 2nd to me compared to this, because of the animation times it means you can get twice as many hits, therefore twice as many crits in and follow up means your always on +damage and +tohit.

The single heaviest hitter though on scrapper from what I have seen is broadsword/fire, build up + fiery embrace combined with the above -res IOs hurt like hell, but even so regen is still the better choice in a majority of cases since its more reliable.

Dark in fights with other regens has issues, its nice overall but its a little too defensive for my liking plus the animations are too long.

Fire is pretty good but for single target id still rate broadsword higher...

I know it's a longshot, but keeping the cttage rule in mind, what if burn was a low damage +terrorize patch, targeted. The patch does its thing, but the target is given a medium/high damage over time to self power, which attempts to duplicate itself onto nearby mobs for a certain period. This power also has a full-body fiery aura attached. Yes, I'm talking about an 'ignite patch' that literally sets a foe on fire. (That is drenching a foe in burning propellant.) The 'contagious,' nature of the fire mean that once you light an enemy on fire, they run crazed and ablazed, and any foes they brush against also catch fire. It's then an odd sort of AoE, where it isn't an immediate area attack, but can become so when the foe comes near other foes.

Note: there would be a limit to the number of transfers of the fire, so that it would not violate target limits indirectly.

I really like that idea, sort of like a ranged chain induction type power, which would also help with mitigation since beanbag is single target and will give you time to animate full auto. Buckshot and m30 grenade arent what I would call proper mitigation since there only knockback which doesnt give you long enough to animate full auto. You set a guy on fire he isnt going be stood around thinking 'wtf is that guy doing next?' hes going to be running around like crazy trying to put himself out before he attempts to kick your butt.

    Excellent suggestion!

    /dev is blaster secondary, devices

Sonic wouldnt be the smartest choice to be honest since it has a single target -res debuff and a shield -res debuff, meaning if your solo or you play with a ranged friend you have only the single targets to rely on.

From my experience on corr, the best ones to pair with tend to be either kinetics, ice or storm. All of which have ranged debuffs. Ice and storm in particular also have -speed powers which will stop the mob scattering when you fire off powers

Just because you post the same thing over and over it doesnt make it anymore true. Its kinda funny that theres so many players who posted on this thread saying otherwise yet you still continue to post.

I question whether you actually play AR or are just trolling as a form of attention seeking... Seen as this is the 3rd time on the suggestions board I've seen you telling people there suggestions are bad without any reason behind it, I'm guessing its a clear troll.

If your trying to prove otherwise, please post something to argue your point other than 'you arent playing it right'.
  9. Yeah thats what I meant sorry should have explained.

As far as im aware you can still get the costume pieces unlocked through those missions right? Im after the toga piece.

I'm pretty militant about what services and programs I run. Because of that, I know that Apoint controls the scrolly-thing on my laptop's touchpad. Disabling it prevents me from scrolling with the keyboard's touchpad, but I can still use my mouse, so it's a small price to pay if it makes the game playable again. Also, I know for a fact that I've been running the service for a long while and it has never interfered with gameplay before i17. Strangely, although movement and typing have been restored, the cursor itself remains glitchy and occasionally invisible. Weird...

Thanks for all the suggestions yall gave me. I was pretty pissed that the day I finally earned a billion influence w my main toon was the same day the game came crashing down around me.

I also play on a laptop and have the Apoint.exe thingy, good find!

Only question I have though is does it make a difference if you set the priority to low rather than turning it off completely? The reason I ask is because I havent really got enough room to get a mouse to play and rely on the touchpad.
  11. As title says, has anyone got the valentines day contact that would be willing to run it with me a couple of times on my noob?

After the costume parts for a themed charecter. Anyone who can help please leave your global and I will contact you in game
  12. The problem is its not just pvp but in pve theres issues too though.
  13. Wow that badly? hmm ok I can see your point then...

EDIT: in that case, anything in particular that performs better than the rest? I know elec performs well, not sure of willpower on a brute.
  14. Self heal can easily be remidied by aid self though, and now edging towards scrapper rather than brute because if i took broad sword I could get parry which pretty much sorts melee defence out, leaving me free to set purely for ranged defence. All in all your looking at around 55% ranged defence after sets, which im not sure how hard DR will hit it.

Defence debuff wise, I thought other than autohit powers such as radiation debuffs, the fact that most debuffs would miss anyway due to high defence should stop that? plus SR has the highest defence debuff resists in game, does that not count for anything in pvp? To hit buffs are always an issue though agreed with that. Other than SS though with rage.

I would have thought if you can survive the initial boosts from build up and/or aim for the 10 secs its up, you should be ok for a bit till it recharges? Of course using that time to apply a defence debuff would suck, but we are talking about freedumb pvp here, a lot of players dont have the intelligence to do more than attack in the first place

I can see why, but its recharge also reflects that. Im unsure if its possible to perma it, but 1.5 mins on and 1.5 mins off is still a fairly long time to wait if you arena, in a zone its liveable im sure.

Or am I just missing something major?
  16. I realise currently the last 5 posts on the pvp forums all have my name on them but this is the last one for now I promise

Basically after I got my claws/fire brute to 50 and was let down with how easily a -recovery power could slaughter it, its lead me to reroll a new charecter.

Im thinking of some form of SR defence based brute. However I have some questions.

    1) In terms of melee defence/resists ranking I heard it went in the order of regen, SR then fire. This still true?

    2) I see people say elude is pretty much nessessary since the defence nerfs, however with set bonuses does this still apply?

    3) I'm thinking if I fully set for ranged defence it should still be over softcap even with DR taken into account and I dont fully understand how chance to hit is calculated now they messed around with it. I heard Elusivity being passed around but I have no idea how this is calculated and how to find out what SR is since its not listed anywhere as far as I can see, has it been scrapped? if not, can someone explain how its calculated?

    4) Anyone recommend a primary to go with SR on brute? Im not a fan of the double rage stacking on brute to avoid the drop because psy recharge slows pretty much screw you over with that and I can see it being changed at some point. So anything other than SS?

    5) How survivable would you rate SR compared to other sets on a brute? Which ones would you say are better (if any)?

    6) Which would you say is the most survivable AT/Powersets nowadays in pvp besides regen scrapper?

    7) One unrelated question, a friend of mine just announced his traps mastermind is firing 4 grenades per target now with one acid mortar placed, this is before mortar stacking with two or more placed. This true? if so that makes acid mortar the single best -res debuffer in game around its area since 4x grenades would be -80% resists, thats before you stack more than one unit together... If this is true does it also apply to corrs and defenders?
  17. Widows slotted for ranged defence with sets and with elude do pretty well. There not amazing as no defence based charecter is since the nerf but there ok. Nowhere near as powerful as they were though
  18. This has been an issue for a while before i17, but recently sg base banners also dont display a secondary colour now and appear as one block colour in the primary colour only.

I have heard a fair few people mentioning this issue in game now, so I was wondering how many other people get a similar issue and if its related to the same 3d card?

I run a 440mx geforce card. Yes its ancient and yes i should upgrade it lol but it was displaying correctly around i14 time before i took a break. However when I came back i15ish time it cropped up all of a sudden.

Its not my files, Ive reinstalled and checked the files a few times since i17 since I was getting bugs to do with that unrelated to this but it didnt help. My drivers are also the ones off the nvidia website on final release. Its not to do with the SG colours bug before overwriting the colour settings, since it does it on creating new charecters as well. Its also not related to the old (apparently fixed) bug with certain clashes of green and red not working together and only displaying one colour since its not just those colours its every colour.

It really didnt bother me too much until recently when I wanted to roll a shield charecter and when I wanted to design my sg base but since I heard people saying it in broadcast I was just wondering who else has this and what card you guys use?
  19. Didnt they originally say something about a possible TF/SF in ouroboros they wanted to make a 7th slot as a reward for?

It might have been just me or something on the suggestions board but i remember seeing it somewhere.
  20. The biggest problem with i13 changes more than anything was the fact there was so little support and bug fixes afterwards.

PvP is workable to an extent, but like every other game it needs constant tweaks, usually minor but enough to balance things out. I can see the idea they were going with but the fact they just dumped the changes then gave up on any attempt to fix the issues was the worst part of it.

So far the only real comment I've read from the devs on pvp since i13 is that positron likes it as it is. If thats there reasoning behind not changing anything major then thats a stupid view to begin with. Just because one guy likes it on the team, it doesnt mean the community of paying customers support it. Im not saying it was a total waste, but theres plenty of unaddressed issues that the devs have turned a blind eye to. Anyone with a history of MMORPG's probably knows about SWG and there NGE 'update' that changed and killed the game, yet this is pretty much what the devs have done with pvp. They have simply taken the stance of fixing it till its broken.

That alone is shooting themselves in the foot somewhat, since they say they want more end game content, yet make the only viable source of permenant endgame content unbalanced and buggy.

The idea of having two sets of effects for pvp and pve is a great idea since fighting players isnt the same as fighting npcs and it shouldnt be treated as such but the changes made are way too severe. The entire thing should have been done in baby steps and taken feedback along the way, rather than dumping one huge change at once and leaving most of the pvp community saying 'wth?'

Its pointless even commenting on it anymore since its been made clear that the devs have no wishes to even pursue this and would much rather rush out the next pve content and bug filled issue rather than fixing what they already have. Theres plenty of problems in game that simply dont get addressed unless the devs feel like it, I for one wouldnt be concerned if they took one issue out in order to fix issues with the game rather than rushing onto the next TF/SF that can be completed within a couple of hours and leave you bored for the rest of the month.

This doesnt just concern pvp btw but the game on a whole. PvP is just a part of that and I see the entire thing as needing a serious bug fix.
  21. Dumb question, but other than the heavy -res ice has, anything else worth noting in the set? Ive been thinking about an /ice corr for a while, its been either a tossup between that and a /rad for my next one.
  22. To me your secondary depends on how you wanna play the mm as to which is best.

FF seems to underperform a lot from what I have seen and dark isnt amazing either other than the fear and another pet since a darkest night can be detoggled and your heal is accuracy based and short range, plus dark pit debuff doesnt stick if they move outside of it where as other target based ones do.

Poison is great for debuffing, two -res powers (gas and single target one) will kick up your pets damage a fair bit and it also has -damage and -heal, its pretty much a sure thing for a decent played mm 1v1, in teams though that single target debuff just isnt enough really. 1v1 this is my choice everytime though.

Storm is very nice, tornado and lightning storm act like two more controlling type pets, freezing rain is a 30s debuff as long as you hit them with it plus steamy mist isnt a bad fire/cold/energy resist boost either plus is helps with stealth. This is the one I'd pick for zones and team pvp.

Fire is pretty much a buffers/drainers choice now defence is screwed. Has some heals and buffs, but main powers are thaw, forge, heat exhaustion and melt armor, all near the end. Thaw helps if you fight area controlling types although as of late those are rare. Forge is nice to put on your last pet, and heat exhaustion can kill your opponents endurence recovery permenantly if they havent got resists to it and there arent that many that do. Melt armor is a long recharge for what it does compared to other sets, but nevertheless its still a good power. If you want to play defencive this would be the choice.

Traps are fairly hard to play for any player in pvp, particularly in zones since they require you not to move a fair bit for them to be of use. web grenade, caltrops (for stalkers), acid mortar, ffg, poison trap and seekers are good though. Yes thats a majority of the set but its still fairly hard to play compared to others. Detonator is still bugged from what i hear with the damage. Personally wouldnt recommend the set but people have pvped well with it.

Trick arrow i still dont rate, other than entangling arrow it seems kinda bad to me since its the controller/disruption type set. When your disruption powers only last a couple of seconds to me it kinda makes them pointless other than to knock off toggles, plus you have two -res powers, each half as powerful as other ones from other sets. So basically you have to hit acid arrow, and hope they wander into disruption arrow to get the same -res as other sets. EMP arrow is horrible as well. Would avoid this set for pvp, would be good for pve though.

Pain is one of the better ones for secondary. Heals, buffs and debuffs, it pretty much has everything you need except stealth. Share pain is the only power id miss out in the set to pvp with. Having fought a few pain mm's before I can say there a pain in the butt to kill off when there slotted for regen unless you have -regen powers even then they still have a regular heal for them and there pets. Controller types can handle them pretty easily as well but other than that there solid to play. Id use this if you like playing a healer in team situations, other than that a lot of noob pvpers tend to turn on the pain when they get killed and blame them for not healing them enough. Its irritating but I guess thats what comes with freedumb pvp.
  23. Thats a valid point about DR, he set it up so its possible he simply turned it off and didnt say anything.

Just thought it was strange that I was perma -recovery when he wasnt even built for it except the couple of powers in epics. 8 seconds is something you can phase out for, permenant your kinda screwed unless you can kill them before endurence runs out, and against a pain dom corruptor thats not gonna happen.
  24. Didnt seem that way but could have, still power sink isnt -recovery is it? just -end
  25. Fallout work from dead pets or just dead allies?

If it works from dead pets it might actually be worth taking.
