  1. My concern is with those that own their account name/global on both sides of the pond, and how that's sorted.

I don't have two running accounts, but I did have a trial account on the NA servers to try out some NA-exclusive thing at the time, and there's a decent chance a trial I set up is using my global over there, too. If we absolutely can't stop the EU accounts from missing out here, I think the least that can be done is to have a reactivation period beforehand so we can change any details that we want to. Perhaps with a one-time account rename beforehand too, so we can prepare.

    I asked this myself.

    Let's see what you've won on this round of Well of Fortune;
    IIIIIIIT'S A NEW CAR!
  3. On the note of costume pieces tied to Incarnate content, my best guess is this:

Which I wouldn't actually be opposed to, as long as it's just the one set. It's just so... Well of Furies chic.

    1. The SG changes its setting to "Accepting Membership Applications"
    2. The character looking to join files a request form with the Registrar. This includes certain information about the applicant such as character name, global name, level and archetype, and a short note. Possibly also a link to pop open the character's Info Box, letting the SG view their description and power choices.
    3. The SG (probably any member that has invite privileges) decides whether to accept or reject the application.
This removes the pesky issue of sending something through gleemail that can only be claimed on one server or by one character. And it makes sense thematically too, talking to the SG Registrar to perform SG-related tasks.
That idea is electric! And it isn't just serving the solo sgs either. I don't know why a 'request for membership' option hasn't been set up yet.

I had someone just last month assume they knew what the british words for things were. They were almost right about cigarettes, except they used the full, six-letter version of the one we probably shouldn't mention. In the form of 'I need a cigarette', it was really quite funny.
  6. I'll be sticking to Union, but due to an irrational need to stick to home more than anything.

Doesn't mean I won't get anything out of this, though. I look forward to maybe seeing more people on Union, including at the later times I'm on. I look forward to being able to see the awesome events you NA peeps host on your servers, even if I can only do so on a fresh lowbie. I look forward to the potential global chat channels that could spring up. I look forward to the possibility of one test server. Hell, I look forward to the global names that I could recognise from the forums appearing in my game.

    Excited!

Edit: I am not looking forward to the opposing spellings and words that're already being brought up in this thread, though. I get so ana- ... picky about these things.

This was my first thought too. Cutscenes with panels, or something. Could be cool!

  9. This didn't happen to me, but a friend of mine was telling me just yesterday about how the very same thing happened to her on a Vigilante Brute. Same mission and all.

Redside ATs could be something to look at, as well as the non-Heroic alignment.
  10. I got Arachnophilia a couple days on Union. I was so suprised it wasn't available I checked, double-checked, and triple-checked that I hadn't spelled it incorrectly, and then rolled the character even though the concept was only half-baked in my head. Which is kinda rare for me.

On a related note, the fleas aura can make a half-decent jumping spider infestation. I was pleased.
  11. Ice Mistral for the win, I think. Not that I want to run the WST more than once.
  12. Loved it, and liked how it made me wanna be new again.

I followed the link intending to give it a quick glance over, but a couple pages in and I couldn't stop. I particularly liked how you managed to tip-toe around game design and make little references to map layouts, sewer teams, and war walls.

Golden Girl seems fascinating as a character now, and I found it funny how he kept looking her over in disbelief. "...Natural?"

Edit: I almost forgot. Golden Girl's expression when she says "Punching villains in the face." is priceless.
  13. Friday already. I was fascinated to read your Canadian translations, though. Perhaps mostly because I'm in the UK, so what you translate to sounds odd to me as well.

I actually had no idea what this was you were talking about.

Butter Tart - best. dessert. ever. (Think of it like a mini-pecan pie without the pecans)
    Or this.

    Quote:
Chocolate Bar - what is this "candy bar" you speak of? My favourite all-time chocolate bar is (ironically, since I hate coffee) Coffee Crisp.
Chocolate bar. When I hear 'candy bar', I imagine like, a stick of rock or something. Often not something I want at all when I'm in the mood for chocolate.

    Quote:
Nanaimo Bar - originated in the lovely town of Nanaimo - it's crazy sweet and rich, but very yummy. (There's probably a recipe on the internets for it somewhere.)
Now you've got me curious. I'll have to look it up if I remember.

    Quote:
    Pop - I don't drink soda, I drink pop.
Fizzy drinks. Or just fizzy. Both soda and pop sound remarkably funny to me.

    Quote:
Smarties - these are like M&M's but they do melt in your hand...and on your fingers...and probably will smear stains on your clothes if you're not careful. But they're very yummy. (And I don't actually eat the red ones last, I usually make a SmartieBurger with my brown meat, beige buns, red ketchup, yellow mustard, orange cheese, green lettuce and toss the whole mess into my mouth.)
Smarties! I was suprised to hear that American Smarties were different, as they always seemed like one of those things that got invented there and shipped about. I used to love using the tube as a little cannon, when squeezing it would send the lid flying across the room. I used to love that the lids had letters on the inside, and aspired to collect them all when I was younger. Never happened. Shame they're hexagonal now.

    Quote:
Housecoat - it's what I wear around the house over my pajamas. You may think of it as a robe.
I can't quite work out which of two things you're talking about. If it's the sort of thing you'd throw on in the morning to move the car or something, dressing gown. If you're wearing a more towelly one after a bath or shower (with or without pajamas on underneath), bathrobe. I get those two mixed up all the time, and have been called out on it. Rr.

    Quote:
Track Pants - I never wear them here in California, but I used to in Vancouver when I'd be running around for PE. (Think sweat pants.)
Jogging bottoms, I think. I've never been a fan of them, but so many people here wear them 'just cause'.

    Quote:
Deke Out - leave quickly, take off, slink away. It's like this, "Hey, look, I know we're halfway through the Sewer Trial, but I gotta deke out. My Mom's calling me." Or, more likely, "Let's deke out of C Block and head on over to Mac's Milk for a Slush Cat."
I don't think this one has a direct translation to UK English, but I got a good laugh out of it.

Also, had to say; I don't think that in the nineteen years I've been here I've heard 'Mars Bar' to mean anything but an actual Mars Bar. It's just 'chocolate', generally.
  14. One of you western types remember to screeny the higher incarnate stuff. Master Zaprobo nabbed enough to make me, and I'm sure others, damned curious.

    Pleeeeease.

This was just quoted because it was there and seemed relevant. The following is by no means aimed at EvilGeko.

The problem I find with these discussions is that things spiral out of control way too quickly. Lately it seems to be going something like:

    I like this issue.
    I'm disappointed with the issue.
Well issues aren't meant to please everyone.
Well I never said it was. Why can't you just let me have my opinion?
You can express yours, and I can express mine.
Well not everybody has to agree with yours, so stop replying and just let me state my opinion!
Well let some of us be happy! Why do you feel the need to keep posting?!
Oh, so now I should stop posting? What about freedom of expression?
YOU KEEP EXPRESSING THE SAME OPINION. I'M TELLING YOU YOU DON'T NEED TO.
    STOP HARASSING ME.
    WHINER.
    FANBOI.
    RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Once the first two posts are made, the rest really is unnecessary and just get everyone in a bother. Can't we just give it a rest?

I can't disagree more. I spend 90% of my playtime around the 20-30 range. The focus on 50s lately is fantastic for those who have been asking for it, and I'm happy for them. But we need stuff under 50.

The precedent has been "if you don't like it, don't worry, we know not everybody likes the same things and we'll come up with something else you might like in a few months."

The last three issues have been "don't like Praetoria? Well we like Praetoria and we think you should like it too." And the last two issues? "Don't like raids and task forces? Well you can farm up a ton of Shards, we guess, but it'll have to be a lot of Shards because we like raids and task forces and we think you should like them too."
Definitely agree with this though, and I actually kinda like Praetoria. I just feel I'm getting an overdose of it. I'm still not really understanding why incarnate content is weighted around it either.

I'm happy that we're getting endgame and that this Praetoria storyline is being continued. Players want this, and I enjoy some of it. But lately it feels like that's all we're getting. I was genuinely suprised we were getting a pair of TFs that didn't cap at 50.
  18. I'm- a tad disappointed. With this issue gathering so much hype, I was hoping for some powerset proliferation or something.

What's there sounds nice, though. Leagues seem like they'll quickly become a part of the game as if they were always there, and more task forces will add a little variety. Even better that the villains are getting their own task force, and one that covers the 30-35 gap at that. I'm curious about who the contacts are.

Overall, like what's there, but expected a little more core stuff. The respec badges sound like a bug fix in a regular patch note rather than a feature in an issue.

This is what I popped in to mention. It could possibly be an instance or a small zone, but I don't think it was stated. Just don't get excited about a new zone to find it's part of a new task force or something.

    Looks neat, though.

sounds like serious glasses were suddenly put on for serious time.
  22. Objective feedback:
Downloaded, installed, and ran without a hitch. Updated and ran the EU test server okay. The download felt slower, but I didn't manage to catch any numbers to actually compare.

    Subjective feedback:
I was ready to hate this launcher, after the comments I'd read about it. But once I found the settings window, I rather liked it. The actual layout of the CoH news tab thingy is about a hundred times better than what us Europeans had on our launcher, and I love that we can finally get some sort of graphic. I was always envious of the US patcher for that.

Based on rather common complaints, I'm not sure how long it'll last, but I like it for now.
  23. and for the love of god, don't wink at any point in the interview.
  24. I was suprised to get Ctrl Alt Delete, Bittersleet, and Scarlet Phantom on Union. Two of them weren't strong characters initially, but I don't want to delete them in case the name gets claimed.
  25. I definitely want revamps. The further this game's come with the RWZ, Cimerora, Praetoria, the more and more unappealing places like Baumton become. The Shadow Shard is a beautiful place, but it's in need of content to be done there. A new co-op 40-50 experience with new contacts, funky mission mechanics, revamped TFs, and perhaps shiny red liquid. I'd love to see Baumton get a revamp though; progress the story. The villains currently get the most up-to-date version of Baumton when they visit it in a mission, and I hate that the actual zone is still behind.

I don't know about 'an issue where they fix all the bugs', though. Something tells me if it were that easy to fix bugs, they'd be fixed already. Perhaps after a forum thread where we list all the bugs we know of, the issue could focus on bug-squashing?

    Anyway. Revamps. Signed.
