I too have heard people complaining that they've had personal warnings and/or been banned for exploiting AE. I've also heard people raging about a bit in Atlas because they've had one of their arcs locked away from them.
Posi warned people that they were going to be taking action some time after issue fourteen. Possibly around issue fifteen. They warned that people could lose characters, be banned, or have arc publishing slots taken away from them if they consistently exploited. I believe the term that he used for exploit was:
An abuse of the risk:reward ratio
Or something along those lines. I can't seem to find the announcement at the moment. But basically, they define anyone who's purposefully getting a lot of reward for minimal risk as an exploit. Although that definition could be applied to a good team at a stretch, they generally don't have a problem with you unless you're setting it up specifically so that you can repeatedly get maximum rewards for next to no effort. -
My Night Widow has been an undercover Longbow Agent from day one. She has her second costume set up for her other uniform, and I love sorta RPing her in my head. I tend to play her as a hero who does what she has to to stop the greater evil. But she definitely sees herself as the hero who lurks the Etoile Isles at night, protecting its citizens. The work that she's had to do for Arachnos to keep her cover has toyed with her morals a little, and she's discovering that she's actually quite the powerful woman.
She's going to be my poster child for Going Rogue. I'm going to take her over to be a hero, so she can live out her original role as a Longbow Agent. But then I'm going to play missions as she would, and let her morality compass drive itself. I'm expecting her to dip quite far into 'vigilante', until some would say that she'd become a villain. But there'll always be a little light to her. -
My characters won't be in the Resistance to hail Calvin Scott. My characters will be banding with this group of freedom fighters for their own reasons; Assisting Belladonna Vetrano, and having a group of rebels that they can use to take down their PPD sister.

Quote:I laughed for like, five minutes. Owwie.think ill ever get some holsters or a quiver? Not to worried about the mace im starting to like it.
On topic, I can see them adding them at some point. But I've no idea when. Like animated tails, it seems to me that it'll just be something they get around to when they can. -
I'd like a few more stories like this too. But as others have said, they need to be written well. I like the arc that Alpha mentioned. The one with Cyrus Thompson in it. The ending left me touched, and he became one of my favourite heroes in the game.
For similar reasons, I was also left emotionally moved by a couple of other arcs in the game, too. One of the early peacebringer arcs includes a kheldian that you were just too late to save. It was the first real negative turn I'd seen in-game, and I took a moment to realise what had actually happened. It really was a dreadful thing to me at the time.
However, without spoiling anything, the two arcs that move me most are the tales of Pyriss and Tanya Tyler. Tanya's made me feel really very sympathic, but Pyriss was something else. I felt guilty. That was my fault. No other story thus far has really made me feel so strongly for an arc I did in a video game.
For those who haven't played Pyriss's out story, I highly recommend it. While it made me feel awful, I really found it to be a good play.
The first arc is Peter Themari's 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge', levels 10-14.
The second is Vernon von Grun's 'Von Grun's Science', levels 45-50.
The gap between them is pretty big, but the progression in time is part of the story. -
It's an overlay we have now, I believe.
On note of the update; very exciting. I'm a fool for any information that there is to offer, and as expected, I'm excited as. Especially on sight of the ghouls. This isn't really something that's been hinted at thus far. But I'm looking forward to finding out who they were. -
Quote:From what I can tell, they've re-added them since. For a while after the issue was published, they were using Council Empire models. For a good few months if I remember correctly.Er, the last time I went through the Barracuda SF I was fighting Axis Amerika soldiers...

Oh my, did I laugh. Totally know what you mean. You'd think what with going through character creation and having power decriptions floating about the place they'd have this sorted by now but apparently we need a 'take ten paces' power.

I echo what those have said before me.The name, yes. The costume, not at all.
I'd also like to add how nice it is to see someone get genericed, come on here, and politely ask for opinions. Most of the time someone comes on here and complains, or sometimes even insults whoever it was that genericed them, demanding that they have their name restored. Normally saying something about how they have the right to copy because you can easily replicate Wolverine with the costume creator or something. Cheers for your maturity. -
Ahh, my apologies. I thought that by a coincedence you'd come up with a feature that was coming soon. My bad.

This is a good idea, and would be wonderfully useful.
I'm sorry to break it to you, but you may have missed this.
From the issue 17 overview page:
Quote:A nice idea, but a late one.Show Last Objective: This UI improvement lets you find your last objective on a mission map, making it easier to find something you've missed. -
I was thinking something along the lines of this:
1) Tentacular Grasp - (Ranged Immobilise, Moderate DoT(Negative), Foe -To-Hit)
2) Shadow Punch - (Melee, Minor DMG(Smash/Negative), Foe -To-Hit)
4) Smite - (Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash/Negative), Foe -To-Hit)
10) Death Shroud - (Toggle: PBAoE, Minor DoT(Negative)
16) Build Up - (Self +DMG, +To-Hit)
20) Dark Cloud - (PBAoE, Foe -Speed -To-Hit -DMG)
28) Fearsome Stare - (Ranged (Cone), Foe Fear, -To-Hit)
35) Petrifying Touch - (Melee, Foe Hold)
38) Soul Siphon - (PBAoE, Foe Sleep, Self +End) -

I've always been kinda antsy for a Dark blaster, and this seems a fairly nice secondary. However, I think that if a Dark Manipulation set came to be, it would be more soft-control like ice manipulation than blabbery. But some good ideas.
Also, I think some of the reactions in this thread really have been rather uncalled for. This guy just wants to make a suggestion. Whether you agree or disagree, please show a little more compassion and respect in your replies. -
If we got to play as a Mu, or a Tarantula, it would be a brand new EAT. I doubt that we'd get any more Arachnos EATs soon, but if we did they certianly wouldn't be expansions to the Arachnos Spider and Arachnos Widow archtypes.
I agree with what many have already said: we may well do, and almost certainly will get new EATs. But don't expect advancements in the current ones beyond the occasional number tweak. If I were to guess, I would guess that the next round of EATs would be either something entirely new to the lore, or the Rikti. Coralax are an option, but I see Rikti as being more likely as they could be open to both sides. I often see people asking for a branching PPD or Longbow powerset, but if handed a costume piece or two these are easily enough replicated with the current archtypes. -
People shouldn't really need confirmation on whether the 60 month vets/loyalty programmers/hero-con attendees get access to issue 17's closed beta or not. If you're one of the above people and you can't get in, those people aren't guaranteed a spot.
Besides that, they're not gonna say how they're choosing beta testers. The best you can do is play the game you're paying to play, enjoy yourself, and hope that you get invited in a later wave. -
I can't speak from experience at all, as I'm terrible with macs. But as you haven't an answer yet, the wiki seems to have some idea.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Rather excited, but I'm off for a shower and bed in twenty-five minutes. Looks like if I am invited, I'll be playing away tomorrow instead of tonight. -
Quote:If that is indeed the case then yeah, they really should be.At this point though I dont even think the minimum listed will run the game thats the point. I remember helping a ton of folks in the tech section that had similar specs that could not even get past the login screen because those specs listed are so underpowered for what the game really needs. I think it totally needs to be redone.
Quote:Maybe I am reading it wrong but the way I read it it seems to be more then just the two that are announced
Dear god yes. I've a PPD character planned, and he's currently planned as a DP/dev blaster. Clearly I was looking at the PPD with a bias towards... well, our universe. It looks much more high tech than I expected, so I may have to tweak him once I experience the PPD. The Resistance costumes are brown, too! I was a little thrown, but I suppose in the darkness under the city they'll be the dark, dark shiny blue that I imagined. -
Quote:People rage-quit because they don't seem to get that requirements mean the minimum you need to actually run the game. You would think by now they would put the realistic requirements needed to run this game. They still list the junk from when CoX first launch. Dont they realize this needs to be updated? Anyone trying to run the game on something that old is in for a shock. All its going to do is create problems with people rage quiting cuz they cant run the game decently because the requirements lie.
However, I do agree that a recommended setup would be nice, if it doens't have one already. -
