Quote:Absolutely not. I have put far, far too much time into my bases to be willing to give them up. For me this would be too much. It would be enough to send me to another game. Thanks for the responses, folks....those suggestions are cool, but I was wondering what you'd sacrifice that we have now to get something better. It seems as far as powers are concerned, people would happily give up the older ones for a 2.0 of the same set?
With that in mind, would you let the old base system go completely for better features?
S. -
Both.
I've bought the following as packs/sets: Wedding, Valkyrie, Martial Arts, Magic, Cyborg, Science, Mutant, Steampunk, Barbarian
I've bought individual pieces from Circle of Thorns and will buy pieces from Gunslinger.
Quote:Do you have any characters that use all of our most of a costume set?
Quote:Do you tend to use costume pieces for what they are designed/named to be or just for the look?
I use costume pieces instead of sets, but I do usually use them as designed. I use armor as armor, that sort of thing.
Quote:Do you want full costume sets or select costume pieces? -
To up participation I suggest advertising on each server forum. I only found this because i occasionally check General Discussions. I know many people that only read their own server forum and dev notes.
I live in the area and I and my husband could come given enough notice. -
Quote:Thanks, I'll try this. I'm desperate.I know it's been a long time coming, but I have good news for you all: You wanted larger cursors? Now you can have them!

Installation:
Extract the zip to your CoX folder with the suggested path. If the folders do not exist, you must create them. Fear not! This will not alter your actual CoX installation (like Vidiot Maps). Exit the game, relaunch.
32-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\data\texture_library\GUI\Cursors\
64-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\data\texture_library\GUI\Cursors\
Enjoy!

Quote:Me too, for a long time now. I thought it was my mouse going glitchy.Sign me up for the "I'm gonna die! Holy snarky where's my mouse pointer!" Club.
It's more disturbing somehow that I'm not the only one having this problem. It sounds pervasive. Has anyone found a solution because the timing is awful. -
Quote:Thank you!The log out issue is definitely a priority for us here at Paragon, and the web team in Seattle is working on it. This goes on a list of things such as getting the character copy tool working and fixing the Hero skin.
I've been meeting with the manager of the web team every week. This issue is not falling by the wayside as we continue to communicate it as a priority.
I assure you, I will do a happy dance and ditch the voodoo dolls when it's fixed. -
As an alternative marketing strategy I think this would work:
Gender-specific theme sets at a lower microtransaction point. Examples: Casino, Saloon Girl, Amazon
Larger overall theme sets with more versatility of pieces that could be done at a higher microtransaction point to offset more development time: Gunslinger (which could be done with ported over pieces), Medieval, Holsters and Scabbards.
The last few packs have demonstrated the need, I believe. The art team's creative genius doesn't need to be stifled, we just need more options. -
Quote:Blame the customer. It worked well for Netflix. This is exactly what I expected when I voiced my opinion and stressed that the art team should listen to the community but avoid giving them the steering wheel. There are minority biases in the "Gender Equality" thread that do not reflect the tastes of the game's wider audience. All you need to do is log into the game to see it.
Of course a broader selection of choices would be great, but if the art direction wasn't ALREADY phenomenal in City of Heroes, I wouldn't be here. The community should pick its battles more carefully "going forward", and if a sea change does occur, I won't blame the art team.
Edit/PS: The whole point of microtransactions is to encourage customers to spend more money. The point is moot if the attitude is to either ignore customer feedback or to punish the customer for giving feedback. An inferior product isn't worth buying, now or in the future.
I'd hate to see NCSoft make the same mistakes as Turbine in dismissing player feedback, pushing microtransactions beyond reason, and punishing dissent. This is a great game and I hope it remains such. -

Quote:Do this and fix the clipping and I'll buy it.<snip>
...added retroactively as opposed to added as additional buy-ins. Just adding the shirt, jacket, and chap options for female characters as demonstrated by Commander would be sufficient, IMPO.
Edit: and add non-pre-tinted options if feasible.
I'm a bit jaded and have been since the Valkyrie set when the wings stabbed you in the back of the leg and still do. Fixing old things no longer seems a priority over marketing the next new thing ever since the advent of microtransactions. -
Quote:Steam punk (despite the texture/tint problems) and Barbarian were the last costume sets I purchased. Barbarian was well balanced by archtype, lots of skin, but it fit so no problem. I've bought two pieces (shoulders, belt) from the COT set and the rest didn't suit me but seemed okay.No they don't, but the problem is not one is talking about that [heck I don't see the Steam punk as being terribly down that road.
The celestial set is just plain clumsy. The textures don't even match within the set, don't match hardly anything outside of it, and the tinting screws color matching all to hell. That set taught me to look before I leap, it was the last time I'll ever buy something on trust.
I was unhappy with the archtype balance for magic, which at least was well done artistically, but am more unhappy with the balance for this one. At least magic had the option for full body coverage if wanted and great witches hats. This set... that's not a cowgirl - that's a saloon girl. In modern day terms she'd be working a corner somewhere or at the Mustang Ranch.
When I read the announcement I was excited. Then I saw the pictures and was disappointed, wishing I could have the male's outfit for my female toon. Then I took a closer look and got mad.
I was ready to buy more tp to get this until I actually SAW it. The only piece I can see using is the belt. I wonder how many other players feel the same?
PS: Great letter Snow Globe. -
I love this game. I pay for four accounts for my family to play ranging from 3yr to 7yrs and have literally invested thousands in this game between subscription, boxes, expansions, costume sets, and extra turbine points.
I will pass on this set. There are a few pieces that might be useful, but seriously? Can we get past the 'all women are harlots' stage of costume design? Some suggestive pieces, okay, but all? Seriously?
You might as well make female MM pets. I am self-censoring the rest of my rant as there is no polite way to say it, but you can figure it out.
My visa is staying in my purse until further notice. You won't get another penny out of me for anything beyond subscription fee until you produce a costume set that is of good quality and use.
PS: No holsters? Worst. Costume. Set. Ever. -
Quote:Hear hear.
Heads up guys! NOT ALL OUR FEMALE CHARACTERS ARE *****S! -
Quote:what he said.I cannot believe that after many, many pages of player complaints regarding this costume set, including the pre-tinting, for sure, the lack of belt with holsters, too, but especially the questionable nature of the female costume pieces, that literally none of players' concerns were addressed. The Devs like to say they are listening to us, but it is becoming more and more apparent that they are not.
Those female costume pieces do not embody gunslinger. They suggest saloon girl, at best, old west prostitute at worst. It's shameful.
For a set that had so much potential ... well, I find it sad.
IMHO, of course. -
More, please? I've been checking for this thread every day since you started writing.

I bought two sets of LOTGs. That's how many I had points for. Play money for play things works for me, I won't spend real money on it as money is tight. If it wasn't I'd probably buy some points to get another set and a few sets of the kinetic combats. I just don't have the money now.
It's all in what you enjoy and what you're willing to pay/invest in. For some the time/$ trade off is worth it. More power to them, it's all good. -
Quote:It rather reminds me of the "This is a PvP game!" argument on Aion. No, it's a PvPvE game. Take that "E" out of there and you'd be right, but you'd also be left with an unsustainable game because of the small number of subscribers when the PvEers fled in droves. The same applies for the "u haz 2 team" argument. This game would not be sustainable if all the soloists and primarily soloists left.MMO does not mean that all content must be team content, or that those who prefer to solo should be ignored.
MMO does imply that there can (and probably should) be some content which does require a team, or even multiple teams.
I don't think that the argument "this is an MMO, therefore if you don't like to team, get out" is valid, but I also don't think that anyone playing an MMO should expect that they will be able to solo/duo/trio any and all content. Both extremes are equally ridiculous.
A lot of content will be friendly for solo and small teams. In the case of CoH, that's the vast majority of content. Some content will require larger teams. Nothing wrong with that. I think that's exactly the way it should be.
Lots of different material for lots of different folks is key to a sustainable game. Because someone plays differently than you doesn't make them wrong. -
That was a blast! I'm looking forward to more. Well done!

I got several I wanted:
Steele Magnolia (my global)
Sword Dancer
Cornucopia
Garden of Eden
Total War
Fruity Pebbles
Simon Says
Brandywine -
I already played on three servers (**Liberty**, Pinnacle, and Virtue) and space has been an issue. I'm using 36 slots on Liberty and 12 each on Pinnacle and Virtue. Exalted is a place for me to expand. I'm excited about building a new SG from scratch and decorating from the ground up.
And boy howdy have I had fun. These are my current play characters there:
Fruity Pebbles - Stone/Time Controller (wow this is a great combo)
Sword Dancer - Katana/WP (always wanted a katana character)
Steele Magnolia - Beam Rifle/Traps (gotta have my namesake)
And several names set aside for the upcoming sets or new combos. -

I'm familiar with LOTRO's microtransaction system which has gigged my household for up to $100 at a time when a big sale hits and hubby and I agree on $50/each. We're lifetimers there so, so it doesn't feel so bad since we don't pay a sub fee.
For me in LOTRO it's been storage, convenience functions (faster teleport recharges), character slots, and costume slots that cause these spending binges. I've a feeling it will be much the same here. I've already spent 800 points buying costume sets.
I'll be getting point cards as well as the usual time cards for Christmas presents for my brother this year.
I can haz costume slots!
/em happydance
PS: Don't be shocked at how much I and others spend. Budgets vary, and for some people (like me) MMOs are our entertainment budget! It's still cheaper than a movie and dinner for two. Have you seen the price of movie popcorn lately? I'm over 40 and 'expensive' is relative. Fallen tree removal, leaky roofs, and car repairs are expensive. Even point bundles can't compete with a $7k bill for replacing your HVAC and upgrading the ventilation system after its been struck by lightning. -
Play Aion (and do laundry and cook dinner)

I claimed all my vet reward powers but don't have the option of using a free tailor token when I try to change my costume at a trainer.
