I saw Lost moving rocks in wheelbarrows, and sleeping during their "sermons". Don't remember seeing that before.

Now that we're reasonably certain we're getting power customization.. what color are you gonna make your pew pew?
[/ QUOTE ]
Mental blasts will NOT be pink. Pink pom poms of death will finally be able to match whatever I pick for Energy blasting.
It will be interesting to see what Kheldians look like when this goes into effect.
You KNOW someone will be making a Cold defender with black or red ice shields just to screw up Atlas costume contests even more than they do now. -

I'm not getting the challenge here so much?
[/ QUOTE ]
The challenge is to build a low level Scrapper (limited at level 15) that can do the last few missions of Posi NOT solo (i.e. there are still people on your team that increase the spawn size above solo) but to still be the only damage dealer and be effective and survivable.
Limited slots, limited powers, limited IOs. No Stamina. Mediocre teammate support.
But it doesn't have to be Posi necessarily (it was just the simplest idea I could come up with), any arc that has 4 or so defeat all missions with a variety of villains will do just as well. -
Some of the things I've learned for /SR at 15:
- I didn't slot my defenses enough as I was leveling up originally.
- Taking Health at 14 is one of the few ways available to /SR to get the big three into the build, Aid Self is another option.
- I'm not yet convinced that the Passive powers (e.g. Agile) add enough protection to take this early. -

Can I invite a kinetics defender to my team
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, you can't assume any other teammates have any given powers. -

My dm/sr did the best of my scrappers due to siphon life being slotted up
Sorry to tell you a blaster is the better build for posi merit farming I have a fire/mind at 29 and he is better than any of my 5 scrappers solo on posi.
[/ QUOTE ]
All the better for the challenge. I bet you would get a lot of people to say that a different AT is better for the TF.
The idea is to build your best scrapper at level 15. And be the only damage dealer at the end of a tough TF. -
Gosh, no that's NOT the idea at all. I just think its a challenge to build at lower levels, and Positron is easier to get people for than say, a Shadow Shard marathon.
There are much easier ways to get Meris than suffering through Positron!
Don't like it, don't do it. -
I'm looking at an interesting challenge: build the best scrapper to run the Positron TF. Currently I'm going to either respec my DB/SR (or use his 2nd build) to optimize him for this TF, since its relatively easy to get people to start it and it gives the most Merits for the lower level TFs.
I'd like to know what scrapper YOU consider the best at that level, and what build. Here's the rules:
1. No Purple sets. Few people have them, and they make the challenge less.
2. Some IOs like Numinas +Reg/+Rec don't lose their ability even if you exemp down, and they will be pretty accessible after you run the TF a few times, so they are OK. Its better if you show a build before and after you get the "big three".
3. Its OK to assume your character is level 50, but remember the TF caps out at 15, so you only get the powers and slots for that level.
4. Its OK to use a vet power as an attack, but you have to clearly state the power and what vet time you need to invest to get it. Same goes if you are a 5 year vet and don't have to take a travel pre-power. Just state it up front, and realize that not many people will be able to do the same.
5. Your build cannot depend on any other AT providing some function you don't have. In fact, assume that for the last few missions (which are all Defeat All) that the PUG you are doing the TF with is down to 3 people including yourself, and that YOU are the only damage dealer. If you build with the idea that heals are limited or ineffective as well, even better.
Your build should address:
What Primary and Secondary sets would you pick and why?
What Power Pools and why?
Is/Are there Temp powers (for instance, the Kings Row jet pack) that you consider essential?
What IO sets do you consider important? Remember, set bonuses are lost three levels below their native level, so you might want to use IOs that you usually wouldn't slot.
Give an approximation of how much Inf you think the build would cost.
Its easy to be uber with a purple-filled 50! Can you be uber... at 15? -
Time Bomb should be changed to Hand Grenade. Use the animation from Web Grenade, reduce the damage to something a little less than Fireball (since its in a secondary powerset), and add some knockback (maybe 20% chance).

This is a movie which begs for Mike, Joel, Servo, Crow, and Gypsy.

My thoughts exactly. The producers of this movie should just send MST3K the digital master now to save time. -

Second. All in favor? Say "aye". -
Energy/Devices. Hear me out.
Energy primary seems to fit your concept best. If you are worried about knockback, you can (A) Hover over the battle and convert your knockback to knockdown, or (B) say "screw the Scrappers" and blast away. If you pick your targets carefully and don't open with an AoE knockback you will be OK.
Devices, even though it doesn't have Build Up, can really help if you are frustrated with dying. Caltrops will keep almost every enemy away from you-- its the key to the set. Use it every battle. Targeting Drone relieves the frustration of missing higher enemies. Cloaking Device reduces your aggro radius when unsuppressed and makes setting up your attacks easy solo. Trip mines are very effective, although they take a while to set up and are not all that team friendly. Also Devices fits your Tech background.
I hate to see anyone lose a good concept. It's what will carry you to 50. Give Eng/Dev a try and see how you like it. -
Anything with AR. Among my 50s are an AR/Dev, an AR/Fire and AR/Elec. I even have a Huntsman build redside. The AR/Elec is my favorite, but more because of his concept than the build itself.
I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Dual Pistols. (As is everyone else, I think.) -

Except they say in the blurb, yanno..

For the first time, Hero characters can become Villains and vice versa, enabling Heroes to cross over to the Rogue Isles and Villains to experience Paragon City.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
And as I believe I said I have a feeling they will be experiencing Mirrorverse versions of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles rather than the regular areas. Thus the blurb would be true, from a certain point of view.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait.... let's take this one step further... what if, in the mirror universe, all heroes are villains and all villains are heroes... meaning, all stalkers are heroic and all tankers are villainous for example... but you play in the opposite zones? So, you can either play in the mirrorverse as a Stalker in Talos/Atlas.... or you can play a Tanker in the Rogue Isles... but when you go back into "our" world, it all goes back to normal again?

I think you hit the nail on the head. -

Yeah, as I posted in the patch discussion thread, Martial Arts Shuriken is actually it's strongest attack. A shuriken should not be doing more damage than all melee attacks on a melee-centric mob, especially moreso than their tier 9, three second animating, slow-motion kick to the head move ( I forgot the name...).
Being able to choose which ranged attack would also be nice.
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering most "adjustments" in this game seem to be done with a barrage of sledgehammers when the fine tuning of a single screwdriver would actually make sense, is anyone surprised by any of this? I mean, seriously, did you think they wouldn't go total overkill on some of this stuff?
[/ QUOTE ]
The ranged attacks doing major damage was probably done to prevent what the Devs considered an exploit (and I'm just talking normal MA missions); where if the MOB was melee with no ranged or just a very minor ranged attack; Ranged ATs could get XP for little to no risk.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a tradition reaching all the way back to Issue 2. We used to hunt Hydra in Perez Park by hover-sniping. The Devs responded by giving them a powerful Toxic ranged attack with -Fly, and cutting their XP drastically. Ever see anyone hunting Hydra these days? -
I remember
- when the Hollows didn't exist.
- when people argued in Broadcast about who was kill-stealing
- when people argued in Broadcast about who was stealing their mobs in Perez
- when the stores were secret and didn't show up on the maps
- Costume slots? Capes? Change your costume? What is all that about?
- when Fire/Fire Tanks and AR/Dev Blasters ruled; then someone discovered Regen scrappers and they were so powerful that they got nerfed in every issue (My favorite forum quote in those days was "If you see a power that has the words "Instant" and "Healing" in the title, you should take it.")
Heck, I remember when teams did missions that didn't involve farming the MA system. -
Are both cores enabled by default? The -renderthread 1 flag was able to be used during beta, but I can't get it to work Live.
Only 1 core could contribute to lower frame rates. -
I did a search and didn't find any mention of this.

Bug Description: I think Inky Aspect and Orbiting Death are broken when used together. I just got Inky on my lvl 28 Warshade. I found a couple of greys in Steel Canyon and tuned on IA and OD and walked over to them. They were stunned but took no damage. I even put one on Follow and he remained stunned and did the "drunk walk" but never took any damage. I turned off IA and he immediately began to take damage.
Is this a bug or working as intended? I have never had a WS get to this lvl. It seems wrong that one power would cancel another one out.
Again if this is a known issue or working like it should, sorry, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I gotta ask...which Genius thought this system was less "confusing" than the current Base Salvage?
Were the devs drunk when this was in concept stages? And they just said to hell with it and let it go?
For the first time, Issue 13 is something that is srsly making me reconsider my subscription. Just compounding stupidity on top of stupidity with this Issue.

Gutting the Epic/Patron power sets, and now base building requires a PhD, its own instruction manual and hours on the forums just to figure out that it still sucks? These are MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR mistakes.
I've been here since retail, and I play almost every day. My family has 3 accounts. I am NOT a happy subscriber. These look like some of the worst ideas since Emmert tried to to tell us what "fun" is and followed up with ED. -
This is the greatest announcement for CoH since it went retail! More players, more options, on a great platform.
I guess I won't need Boot Camp on my Macbook Pro once this comes out. CoH has been the only program I run under Boot Camp. No more rebooting, no more XP.
Great decision! I can't wait to get the client! -
Very impressive. Costume design during boring meetings, anyone?

I completely agree. Keeping us in the dark is annoying. I'm also losing interest with the game. I started played in Jan 2008 so learning the game kept my interest for a while and then i12 hit so it was ok. Now that I have a good chunk of the game down I am wanting the next issue
I see the mish creator is a hot topic but I think they should have dealt with other areas first. Going server-less is a big one. Also give each faction the ability to venture to the other side would be more important. As it stands the game divides the players way too much - spread over its numerous servers and then split between heroes or villains. Anyway, I hope this is being looked at
Any more info available for the future of this game in that address??

If you've really blown through every bit of content this game has to offer, on both sides, in 7 months...I think I can safely say you can forget about us ever being able to keep your appetite for new content sated.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, I'd have to agree. I've been here over 4 years, and I play almost every day. 4 50s so far. And yet I've never:
- Been in a Hami raid
- Done all the Shadow Shard TFs
- Done all the Roman stuff
- Completely finished a Mothership raid (I think there's supposed to be a GM at some point; never seen it)
- Done the STF
- Succeeded in a Recluse TF.
- Got ALL the badges, even though I have characters that have been around since before badges were invented
- Taken a Defender, Controller, PB, WS, Scrapper, Tank or any villain besides a Dom to 50
I've only defeated the Kracken in Perez ONCE in over 4 years.
So if this guy has done all that and more in 7 months I'd be A. astonished and 2. suspicious. -
The pictures on the 54 month page of the Blackwand look wrong. They look like the pictures from when the power first came out and it resembled the temp power for killing Ghosts in Croatoa. The Blackwand in-game now is a black trident-looking staff with purple/black swirling.
And in a few months I can have BOTH the Nemesis staff AND the Blackwand on the same character? WOW. -

This allows them to put options into conversations or theoretically do things like present players with situations like which wire to cut when diffusing a bomb. It sounds simple, but it makes their options as mission designers much greater.

SuperGuy1337 clicks Red.
There is a flash, much like the one if you fail to escape the Striga TF volcano.
In the next moment, everyone is outside the mission, dead. The words "Mission Failed" appear onscreen in red, followed by "Task Force Failed". The 2 hour Orenbega mission bonus is a massive...400 points. Since everyone is now outside, the debt is doubled. The much-desired Temp power for this mission is not awarded. The TF badge is not awarded.
