So, I've been an active member of this game as my joined date says, for eight years. I began playing when I was 15 years old, just after my 9th grade year (I turn 24 in October.). I played this game through three years of high school, four years of undergraduate work and now a year of my master's. This is roughly a third of my life. If I were to live to 80 years old, I will have played City of Heroes for a tenth of my life.
I took a few breaks here and there, but always knew that I'd be coming back at some point as I really do love this game. Needless to say, I'm quite saddened by this turn of events. The game was going in a great direction with its endgame and its build up. Back in the day, I'd see people make posts saying, "I don't really feel super." Or something along those lines. After the last few years, I feel like a bona fide badass. One of those times was just a few weeks ago.
I was doing an ITF with a team of 8 people, and we were in the first mission. I think four of them had never done the task force before. Our Tank wasn't level 50 and struggled. My Stalker was much more durable, as he was loaded. Being of a Scrapper mentality, I constantly move ahead. My attention can't be focused on a single mob. If we linger too long, I get bored and want the next one too. But I digress. We were at the last part of the first mission. The team was fighting at the bottom of the steps, and I moved up to the Minotaur on my StJ/Energy Armor Stalker. I killed the Minotaur before it fired off Unstoppable and spawned the ambush.
The rest of the team wiped. It was totally my fault.
However, feeling like a badass, I just trudged through the mob, one by one. Dropping bosses in anywhere from three to six hits like it seems that only Street Justice can do. The rest of the team rezzed or returned from the hospital to find the huge ambush roughly halved. And me, just punching things in the face. A few deaths later from the rest of the team, and we completed the mission.
This entire thing may have been a bit wrong of me, but darnit, I felt awesome.
Now, I suppose we just have to wait for CoH 2. Because no other MMOs appeal to me even slightly.
I have a lot of times that I felt pretty damn awesome in this game. Anybody else care to share their's?

Quote:Man, I actually had no idea of this.Hey Sin, it's me...BABs. (Yes, the worst kept secret on Justice was true.)
Just wanted to pop in and let you know, message received. I'm sending the link over to Jill as well so she can check it out. Sadly, I don't have any way to contact Niviene.
Congrats on the comic. I'm perusing it right now and it looks great. Warms my hear to hear I helped give you a bit of inspiration.
Hope all my former Justice peeps and CoH forum dwellers are well.
Cheers.
I found myself asking, 'What ever happened to Tic Toc?' from time to time. This makes a bit more sense now. -
'Kronos has a hold noob' is the funniest thing I've seen to this day in this game. Still makes me laugh out loud to this day.
This is terrible to hear. Lucas was always a good time. -
Aside from the 'doofus' style haircut, the revamp doesn't really bother me much.
But then again, the Circle of Thorns revamp was fine by me. I suppose I don't have any particular attachment to the way things were. -
Quote:Having more endurance does affect endurance recovery. Each time your endurance recovery ticks, it gives you a percentage of your total. I'm not going to get into actual numbers because math is absolutely not a strength of mine.
But the other is just +5 energy...thats it....
But as a very rough example:
Prior to Superior Conditioning, you have 100 endurance. Say each tick is 5%, meaning you recover 5 endurance.
If you add Superior Conditioning and have 105 endurance, each tick may be 6 endurance.
Again, not actual numbers. Just the general idea. -
People complain that things are broken and about how they've been broken a long time.
But this complaint has its own spin. This post is complaining that it took too long to get fixed. As in, it's fixed now.
Am I missing a point? Or is that the size of this? -
I am very fond of KM/Shield. I hit like a truck and Shield Charge helps to make up for the rather small bit of AoE in Kinetic Melee. Between Against All Odds and Power Siphon, I fight regularly at around 200% damage.
My build was relatively cheap and I drop AVs with ease. I actually haven't tried a pylon, but can't imagine having too much trouble with one. -
My Street Justice Brute makes me feel like a badass. There's just something about it.
-
At the screen in which I select my server, for each server, the game pauses for a minute and a half or so, then gives me the message, "Can't connect to DBserver."
I've tried rebooting a few times and repairing my game client. I left it alone for a few hours and tried again after some time, still nothing.
I was able to log in yesterday, but have not been able to since today's patch.
Any suggestions? I haven't changed any settings with my network or computer. I can't think of any other pertinent information at the moment. -
Since I feel that I don't post frequently enough for people to notice that it is my birthday, I am making this thread for myself.
Happy 23rd birthday to me! -
Quote:I wasn't aware that the toggles were suppressed. That does make a difference. Although, I can't remember the last time I was mezzed under normal circumstances. The problem when you get mezzed isn't so much that the toggles turn off ... they will keep running while you are mezzed, it's that they become suppressed when you're mezzed and you will lose the +defense value they provide until your status state wears off. So in the case of my FF I will lose about 21% off my melee defense (plus Weave, CJ, and Maneuvers all also suppress). Worse in some ways I'll lose the DDR from all my toggles as well ... about 63% of my 95% or so, cascade failure of what my remaining +defense is becomes a real threat. On the other hand that's why I always carry 2 or 3 breakfree, pop one and problem solved as all my toggles immediately start functioning again if I do find myself mezzed.
-
Quote:PB should have 2 recharge reductions in it so it is Perma. If a SR scrapper's toggles get knocked off, he goes down quick. I have Gaussian's Synchronized fire control on my Focus Chi (6-Slotted).
Holds only drop toggles that affect foes, as in damage auras and such. The toggles from Reflexes won't drop when held or stunned. But this is beside the point.
With a few IO sets with recharge bonuses, a second slot in Practiced Brawler is a waste. I don't remember the actual number that PB needs to be perma, but it's low. -
I don't think that would be exclusive to Exalted, but I've had something similar in the last few weeks.
I was doing a Synapse TF on my Electric/Time Controller. I'd drop my Static Field to put everything to sleep (and drain endurance) and I would also throw out Chain Fences also for the drain. I didn't really care about the immobilize.
One of the Brutes started complaining that it was hurting their herding and grouping things together for AoEs and whatnot. I was fine with this, so I stopped using my AoE controls for a bit, which really left me not doing all that much. After a few minutes, I noticed that we really were not doing anything differently even slightly. No grouping. No gathering. We just ran in, attacked a mob and moved on. So eventually, I just continued on my way controlling everything that I could.
Eventually, the guy said something along the lines of "For the love of God, stop with the immobilizations and sleeps." To which, I pretty much paraphrased what I said above, and continued controlling for the rest of the Task Force.
I'm going to use my powers. -
I forgot about Power Boost buffing defenses.
I will stick with it. -
I'm sitting at 37 on my Electric/Time Controller right now. Soon, I'll be looking into my Epic Power Pools and I'm really not sure what I'm leaning toward. I've worked out a build to 40 in Mids, but I am not really fond of it. In the build, I put Primal Forces Mastery, but that was only as a placeholder. I don't know which I want.
I don't like the slotting. I wanted as much defense and recharge as possible, as usual. Positionally, I'm sitting at 27.3 melee, 36.6 range, and 35.1 AoE. Also, I have about 25-30% to each damage type. Or should I just be focusing on smashing and lethal damage, which would drastically change my slotting from this current build. My recharge, including Hasten and Chrono Shift is 183.8% which is pretty good.
What I'm not crazy about here is the slotting for Chrono Shift, Slowed Response and my Epic Power Pools. I currently have nothing in Slowed Response. I'm also not sure what I want with Temporal Selection. On live, I have 3 recharges. I may go with that.
As I said earlier, I'm having trouble with the Epic Power Pool. There's something I love about a few different pools. From Primal and Mu, I really like Power Boost and Power Sink to complement my endurance draining, although I don't really anticipate any issues with my own endurance to really need Mu. I'm also very fond of Indomitable Will. Or should I do away with the Epic Pool altogether and go for Fighting? (Which I still won't have room to slot.)
All that said, tear this apart.

My goals are simple here:
1) Obviously soft capped defense
2) As much recharge as possible
3) As much resistance to lethal and smashing as possible
I have roughly a billion influence to work with at the moment. However, this Scrapper is level 40 right now. I'll have more when he hits 50.
There are a few things I don't like about this build right now that I can't seem to figure out.
1) I'd like some more health in True Grit.
2) I don't really like the slotting in Super Jump. I'd rather not have them there.
3) Laser Beam Eyes is a throw away power. I don't really want it. I was moving slots around and forgot that I left an Achilles' Heel in it. I'd like it replaced, but I'm not sure with what.
Dissect this build, please and thank you! -
1600 posts is Legend status.
I was also making a reference to How I Met Your Mother. -
I misspelled it because I broke it into two words.
If I had typed legendary all at once, I'd have gotten it right.

I tried to like this post like it was a facebook status.
It didn't work, so my explanation of liking the post will have to suffice. =P -
...dery!
I've been in the upper 1500s for like, two years now.
Go me!
