Interesting tactics and good luck with them
ultimately futile in my case, an experienced pvper will be well aware to such tricks and ready for them, especially when you cant locate people in the zone (/whoall gives you everyone in the zone) and you also dont know which of you (if at all) will be his bounty target and hence have a marker on them, chances are I would go for whoever is higest or at the back
I have also personally found a different mindset to playing a stalker than with my kamikaze brute and will wage that patience is something most (good) stalkers have so you may be in for a bit of a wait
Dont get me wrong I die sometimes when I am chasing a kill and I dont mind at all, its all part and parcel of PVP which I enjoy a lot -
[ QUOTE ]
I disagree. People would abuse it too much.
Besides, a PvP build will always perform well in PvE.
[/ QUOTE ]
not as well as a PVE specific build though, I die very quickly on PVE as i dont have my defence boosted as I build my Stalker specifically for PVP, at lvl 26 I have have 4 pool power sets and all of them are needed. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, if you're worried about it, respec and get tactics to heighten perception, or just stand in the water. Plus IR Goggles from the vendor at the entrance to Sirens is very helpful too. At the end of the day though a Stalker has to employ a lot more tactics to kill you than you have to, to see/kill him.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also turn on your hero/villain chat if you havent already, you will find things not so unpleasant then (generally)
tactics and IR goggles (even combined) cant seem to see me though and the water trick doesnt affect me either, I can also counter constant movement and flyI thought carefully about my pvp specific build
A stalker is all about tactics and patience, its not an easy thing to kill people with at all, its like anything, practice makes you better.
If the same stalker is getting u again and again and u want a break just ask him. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, and you're a git too Stalk ;p
Killing me when im busy defiancing
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite an effective strategy you were carrying out and I didnt know what was going on to begin with, nice to see "power at a price" coming into effectWas also kind of cool to become each others nemesis as no one else was really able to kill me fast enough.
Impale FTW by the way -
Pretty much as above, attitude is the most important thing anyone can bring to the zones and please hero/villains turn on the hero/villain chat option in options it means we can all hear and speak to each other. My main PVP is a stalker, the most evil of evil and i speak to all and if I have chopped someone down a few times I (try) to speak to them to make sure they are not getting p***ed off, I have fun there and hope other people are as well.
I personally think TPing people into drones is weak, same with TPing people out (yeah it was fun in the beginning) I like having heroes/villains at my base as they are closer to kill and running out of the hospital back into combat is better than running down the other end of the zone. Its also a good place to mass your army and lange a huge offensive against the campers and boot them back to their own base
I like friendly funny banter across broadcast but dont feel insults or derogatory remarks are called for at all.
This is just what I like but technically there are no rules, sadly people will always be an [censored] in all walks of life. -

up in the sky, in safety from Stalkers and their backstabbing

And who said Stalkers cant fly too? Some of the most irritating (see also : effective/wise) stalkers i've faced had taken fly, just to be able to eliminate us chainholders
[/ QUOTE ]
indeed, i can fly and also -fly -

Robbie Redcap - Psy/kinetic who kept healing himself with about 2 HPs left, most unsporting I thought
[/ QUOTE ]
It's Redhat.
That was actually the first time I've been in Siren's, and I had no idea what I was doing for most of it.But it was a good blast, I'll be back.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry man, i knew it was the colour red and something you put on your head, it could ahve been worse you know
Oh and Xani is a defender, I called her a controller -

Search might not show opposing ATS, but handy PvP tip of the day:
When you go into a PvP zone type /whoall
It gives you a list of everyone there in the zone and their level, from both sides hero and villain so you can see what likely odds you are facing and broadly what ATs and levels they are.
Cheers

ooh thanks, I have been missing the /sea showing all in the pvp zones -
Ok probably the morning of the 26th as we all stayed up so damn late but we just had an awesome rumble in Sirens call which was again pretty evenly matched. Initially the evil heroes outnumbered us noble villains but soon our honourable ranks swelled enough so we could make them frequent their infirmary :P
Kudos and thanks to all involved as it was one of the best nights I have had for a while on COV
Honourable mentions goes to
Villains
Psycho Greek - yes hes not always using his storm troller killing villains
Black Aria - uber lvl 40 stalker
Neo- Spawnus - who had to contend with constant demands for speed boost
Xinn - who unfortunately took most of the agro
Tyrant bod - who stood there keeping the tanks and scrappers off the rest of us
Flicknife - Always a pleasure
and at least 4 more whom I cannot remember, it is 3.30am, please forgive me, make a post and I will add you to the list
Heros
Slim Shaolin - one of the best sports in the game, when no heros were on he was getting assasinated by 4 stalkers all the time and was always happy about it (probably due to the brain damage received) This is one tough cookie who solo'd two brutes, thank goodness hes stalker fodder
Xani - another storm controller who utilises hurricane (curse them all lol) and worse she has -fly which sends my stalker running off on his SS
Darkflight - Dark scrapper who could see me at will, just leave me alone will you
Robbie Redcap - Psy/kinetic who kept healing himself with about 2 HPs left, most unsporting I thought
Sundae - PB who was very tough to pin down, curse your Dwarf step
Revolutionist - Almost unkillable tanker, we ended up mostly leaving him alone to chase squishier targets
Volturne - toggle dropping elec blaster, even tesla caged me a couple of times *shakes fist*
and more, but again its late and I forget
Seriously cool time, we all died, we all got kills and i am sure got a number of +3 SOs out of it, I personally got 4 from that session. All good natured fun and the way the PVP zones are supposed to be, I hope to see you all in there again soon -

Agreed.
The attack on the Hero base early on was mental!
Tought me a thing or two about playing an illu. troller in PvP. Is confuse considered cheap tactics?
And as you say, no trash talk just congrats for good/sneaky/lol inducing kills. I was in Sirens all night I think!
Best... Time... Ever!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes...confuse is cheap tactics I almost assassinated one of my teamI liked impaling floating illusionists and making them fall into the hands of villains though
-
I will be on, hopefully there will be a few more less 'surgical' ATs on so you can get a bit more protection
-
yep it was a blast, though for some reason killing Mr Nice was the best of all
It was nice to have moderately equal sides where the advantage was actually shifting in combat as opposed to one side just stuffing the other, heres hoping it continues -
[ QUOTE ]
thanks Sin, sorry i had to go afk for this, but RL n thatactually had a good night with it too
this pic is about the best i think, left to right you can see a zimbie dude, a lich, another zombie dude, Meddler, Agent Flux (DreamWeaver x), Plight's Bane (moi), Marvo, Sinester X, Troubler, Iliya, Communist Cat, a commando (i think) and Meat Shield.
was a good night teaming, hope your still on when i get back on now

I do think that you aren't as good at PvP as you think you are if you cant beat a lone Stalker. I can beat regens, it takes some time, but i can kill them. They have also killed me on a good few occasions. If i may ask, what is your primary?
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't get me wrong, I'm very bad at PvP. Especially in Siren's thanks to my last sloppy respec @ 37. Consequently I've have powers missing that I really miss - most notably SJ and I couldn't even begin to imagine the state of my slots.
The issue at hand isn't my ability at PvP, not even the fight with the stalker, which ultimately could have been very different had I known a bit more.
The issue here is that given as I gratefully note you agreed with that there are builds that can't defeat other builds and in such a circumstance surely the decent thing to do would be to back off once this has been realised.
Just to make sure everyone reading this is clear - I'm not suggesting that me versus the stalker was an example of this - that was more to do with my inexperience of that AT. I'll get you next time!!! *shakes fist*
Incidentally my primary is the katana.
[/ QUOTE ]
Everyone is rubbish at PVP to begin with, it was only when Talin kept battering me that I resolved to change this I turned my rage into something contructive (revenge) My stalker and brute can now give Talin a run for his money and vice versa which is how I see things should be. Dont get annoyed when people beat you (easy thing to say, harder to actually do
) just try to learn from it. If the stalker in question backs off, you will not learn their weaknesses. For example me and TG were in BB kicking bottom and battering all who came out of the villain base untill suddenly they organised, learned and started killing us.
As you say though, build helps massively and the squishiest ATs are not always the weakest, Talin being a controller should go down a lot more than he does and G-zeus is a pain in the proverbial for a squishy empath.
All I will say is watch, learn, team and talk and you will ahve a great time in the PVP zones (and get +3 SOs) It is slightly hit and miss at the moment becuase people are still going through the new content but last night there was at least 10 heroes and 10 villains battling it out in sirens for a while and it was great fun (except when I died, that only happens when people cheat
)

I agree with the OP. You should petition the stalker for bad use of powers..Further more petition for breaking several of the final PvP rules
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, the condecending tones of a PvPer, how I always look forward to hearing them. Tell me, if you can, how does driving players out of PvP zones improve the PvP aspect of the game.
As I keep pointing out, the number of player in either Siren's Call or Warburg every time I stick my head in can be counted on one hand.
I would have thought someone as vocally supportive of PvP as yourself would be trying to ENCOURAGE people to explore that aspect of the game - not actively try to drive them away.
[/ QUOTE ]
He wasnt being condascending, its kind of a running joke in the PVP zones to say you will petition people for actually using their powersall in good natured fun and banter.
Regens are a damn pain to put down at time, last night for example Mr Nice was hard to beat but we did it a number of times. Finding that Sirens is now becoming a more equally matched affair.
Also provided that everyone has hear hero/villain chat on (why on earth wasnt it on as default and then for whoever want it off to switch it off is beyond me) Virtually all people in the PVP zones are good people and fun to talk too (Virtually, there was the one and only person I have ever ignored lest night but I feel he is the exception to the rule)
I think the PVP zones are a great addition to the game and if PVP is not your normal idea of fun the prospect of spending your bounty on +3 SOs brings a smile to my face -
[ QUOTE ]
This is getting silly. I'm not re-writing previous posts, or pointing them out or anything else coz I can't be bothered. Just scroll up and read the thread. If you have something to add, then fine, post away or not. Your choice. I'm off to a PvP zone in-game with my empath.
Just in answer to your "don't know who they are". I know who they are because I have either teamed with them (the heroes), or have seen them about and checked their lvl/builds etc as my hero. Including your good self.
[/ QUOTE ]
G I wasnt being weird or anything I didnt get the point you were trying to make and just wanted clarification is all.
I havent taken my emp to the PVP zones as I dont think he would last 5 mins against anyone, I dont like to pvp with him unless hes 50 as I have literally 2 incredulously weak attacks and TK and sleep are my only useful semi-offensive powers and they are the 41+ epics. Moving and spam healing would keep me alive but stopping gets me a faceplant each and every time and get the emp is seemingly everyones favourite game each time heal-obot is in arena
Now I ahve teamed with lvl 37(ish) MMs who munch lvl 41 bosses without taking a breath and couldnt envisage my emp standing against these on an equal footing without doing the SS and healing aura shuffle.
I have not had my heroes in any dangerous positions by a MM but in sirens my warshade has been annoyed by pets (ninjas with damned caltrops) who have started to sap the health of my Dwarf form (admittedly unslotted) before I TP away.
As I said I havent tested a MM v my Emp so am merely making assumptions and MMs do not currently worry any of the alts I do use but I can see this changing as support in a more organised team environment, in the same context that your emp cant do much against other alts solo but in your support role you bug the hell out of the rest of us and negate our hard work, I just feel that the pvp potential must be there with the KB, traps and holds that some pets have or the devs will do some more `balancing` (god help us all) and it will even out that way.

you cant say that as you dont know what lvl MM you are fighting
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok. Lvl 15 Corrupters slotted with TOs and a few DOs kills quite a few lvl 50 ATs in bloody bay. Therefore I *can* say that because I *do* know.
[ QUOTE ]
an equivalent lvl and slotted MM would tear an empath a new one.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. See above.
[/ QUOTE ]
err I dont know what you mean by that, as the /search function now doesnt show opposing ATs you dont know the lvls you are fighting. Corrupters are a completely different AT as are Stalkers, Brutes etc, and all have their own benefits/weaknesses, also the lvl 50s they kill are not mentioned so I am not sure what kind of comparison you are drawing. -
you can beat them easy, IR glasses which are virtually always on sale on the hero side held a lot as does popping the old yellow insp. Stalkers are very squishy indeed, they cant engage in 1 on 1 battles with regen scrappers by any stretch of the imagination, my nrg/inv brute has real trouble with some of them. Simple fact is we are still in a learning phase with the new ATs and how to combat them, everything has a weakness.

What level MM's were you fighting? If ive seen Tanks being ripped to shreds by MMs with slotted Assault bots i'd say your empath would take a teeny weeny bit more damage than they would however much you can heal yourself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Comparative lvl to the PvP zone that I'm in. And no. My empath does not take a lot of dam from them even when I'm being targeted by all the MMs pets.
As for the tanks you saw being ripped apart, you must have witnessed seom really bad tanks. Tanks are annoying in PvP because their health makes killing them take that much longer. I'd say either you have either confused ATs, or saw tanks getting done after toggle drop, but even then it wouldn't be a quick death (i.e tank has time to get toggs back on)
Truth is that MMs cant kill an empath even with all their pets targeted. MMs don't even bother me in a PvP zone, any other villian AT I keep moving to stay alive and spam heal. MMs..I grab a beer, pull up a chair and hit heal every so often.
[/ QUOTE ]
you cant say that as you dont know what lvl MM you are fighting, an equivalent lvl and slotted MM would tear an empath a new one. Solo they are not much cop in pvp zones but neither is an empath, its a teaming AT with complimentary powersets. I dont have a MM and I regularly mash them with my warshade but I can still see the potential. -
[ QUOTE ]
Dont get too excited i looked around the forums and right now it seems that the people that are crying are simply the ones that dont have a single clue for PvP and therefore dont know any of the wonderful tactics against stormies
The hard facts layed in the US forums are the following
* /energy brutes will just walk right through it and hit you - most likely de-toggling in the process
[/ QUOTE ]
yep I sure dohowever you are a slippery thing and dont stay still for long, i ahve to preload total focus and jump after you till I get close enough to plant one on you
I actually think lowering the -acc for melee would be a shame as it would give my NRG brute a huge advantage, I like to faceplant Talin but I like earning it -
[ QUOTE ]
Helped a bunch of random folks from sharkshead get the badge last night. Grats you guys!
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah I like doing that, Scrapyard doesnt bother my NRG/INV brute now, Deathsurge however....that is one annoying GM to fight in melee, punch, punch, punch...ohh all my end is gone and my toggles have dropped, run away, rest and repeat -
NRG, Electric and Fire are the main toggle droppers as far as I know

Even at level 40 an MM is no serious threat...assault bot goes down really easy not to mention how fast you can silence it by simply placing a nice hold on it or acc debuff it to hell. As for the rest of pets they are just no threat due to level difference and difficulty in layng hits. PvE wise MM's REALLY GOOD PvP forget it just cannon fodders and little nuisance to PvP teams.Even the tactical approach that some MM's use by staying way back kills the MM inherent power of +acc +dmg to bots so they are doomed. Staying back kills the chances staying close is just like inviting the other team to kill.
[/ QUOTE ]
it all depends on how many there areyou cant compare one MM against a normal team as that is rediculous, an solo awesome tank/brute/scrapper and even storm troller cant stand against an organised team. lets put it into context instead, a team of 8 heroes Vs a team of 8 Robot MMs fully slotted, that gives you an attacking party of 48 robots, provided the MMs in question are smart enough to have stealth/phase/PFF I think even the most ardent team are going to find it hard going especially if they all group on one target at a time. It could get worse if you are fighting a team of 8 Robot/FF MMs as you wouldnt be able to to anything to them if they were all grouped buffing each other, their inherant power would be in play making them even more formidable and even TP foe would be useless. I think the buffs from an 8 man FF team beats even hurricane
A team of 8 sounds unlikely but you never know what type of teams high levels do for kicks, remember herding the hollows with our defenders and fighting +5s at lvl 6?
All ATs have their strengths so long as you exploit them to the fullest. -

I am going to switch things about so that i can have lightning field a lot earlier (even if u dont uncover the stalker, u get a miss notice and aim will let u see them)

Would that help with flying stalkers? -

what about Increase Density ? has anyone tried it ?

It works against Tp foe no idea about hurricane sounds like it should
