Ice tanks do indeed seem to be the bane of stalkers at the moment
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't have a problem with Ice Tanks as a Stalker, but that may be down to being able to Crane Kick them off their Ice Patch.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you know what u doing then anything is beatable, I need someone to get them off ice patch for me to do anything, fortunately my wingman has TP foe -

storm is one of the wildcards of pvp...it takes a lot to master it and learn how to move and coordinate it with the team. People that think is all push top corners and is easiest thing to do well obviously have no clue are just newbies with know it all attitude. There have been seen a lot of stormies in pvp zones...things were not bright for all mainly exactly because of the fact that storm is a weird set to play in pvp. You end up in multiple roles...hold/slow/debuff which are the usual roles of the controllers as well as protect/escort and cannonball either soft teammates/critical targets or MM pets respectively.
As for stormies owning pvp well they dont its the players behind each set that owns and performs greately no matter what u play. But stormie owns all your melee....oh yes i forgot to say...hurricane is not an exploit so all the pvp newbies stop reporting hurricane as exploit....
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, its the same with my stalker, people think i just run up and AS everything in sight when it REALLY isnt that easy.
Stormies ahve a lot going for them, nigh on invincible melee protection which even a glancing blow debuffs u for several vital seconds, the stealth is a pain too. I respect and fear the good storm trollers out there but that said I have seen quite a few not so good ones get upset as they expect to be invincible, as always it is the player behind the alt making the most of it.
oh and *petitions* TG for using his powers -

all archtypes are brilliant, just depends on the player.
the most feared in pvp is a controller.
personally, i cant stand stone/storm controllers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, Storm is already a very controllerish set, and is very similar to Stone. Hurricane completely eliminates AStrikes, even if they may get in a long range crit. Steamy mist is a great team defence, and resistance to energyies, and termperature. Tornado is very annoying to anyone it is tossing around and disorienting- it also reduces defence for those pesky Stalkers. Freezing rain is imo one of the best powers in the game when coupled with Snow storm, pretty much a mass immob when slotted, knockdown more than earthquake, and -fly etc for runners. Again, a -defence. o2 boost isn't that good, but it's still a heal!
My storm defender owns PvP
[/ QUOTE ]
No your storm troller owns melee class pvp, I think you will find there are specific anti-storm troller builds out there, just ask Talin and Window licker
Storm is an incredibly useful (re annoying) powerset though and the humiliation I suffered as a brute at TGs hands spawned my PVP specific stalker

Its the cornerstone of my specific PVP build thats why end draining toggles have been dropped, its also vital on my storm troller killing runs to get out of line of sight when impaling. As I said before my build is quite unusual and specialisedAs has been said I wouldnt recommend it for a PVE build
as for ASing flying foes, I guess Im experienced with it now as if they in the air they going down
[/ QUOTE ]
With regard to end drain... AFAIR from my corruptor, Fly is VERY end hungry, toggles or not. I found that any attempt to fight in the air (with fly instead of hover turned on) ended quickly with me running for end (PvE wise, I don't PvP with that corruptor).
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah it eats end bad but at 30 my build is balanced to the extent where I can run Hide (1x end red)/Stealth (1x end red)/Entropy (2x end red)/Super Speed(1x end red) and fly (1x end red)all at the same time with no endurance degredation Stamina runs with 3x end recoveries. -

I assume you have hover (for AS-ing flying enemies). How fast is Hover with SS?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope fly as well, hover sucks as SS doesnt affect it, the 3D escape route is v useful at times too
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, that's odd. It must make AS-ing flying foes difficult, due to fly's inertia, and also quite an end-drain.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I woldnt recommend a multi travel build until you at least get to 40. PvP for a stalker is very different fron PvE with a stalker.

I use Fly and SS combined on my PVP build and it rules

That said one of my fondest PVP memories was one shotting your troller with my brute in BB after ODing on inspirations I was so pleased I had finally managed to hit you through that damn hurricane lol.

Damn lol!i still recall that night in BB...lol i think i saw your Brute's head explode from yellow insps overdose right after lol...funniest thing was i saw u coming and thought that if u are coming so eagerly something must be wrong..damn i should have fled lol...

I took a load of reds too, I was on a (expensive) mission -

Ahh, I knew */ninjitsu stalkers had something more after all! You won't knock their mez protection, as it's a clicky, not a toggle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tbh i not bother with stalkers much since they pose no danger to me except obots stalkers which a pain. Usually i try deal with brawl with the brutes that are brave enough to step in hurricane. Is insane how useful brawl is when u set it on auto and have it 3 slotted for Acc

Theres not much any melee character can do to your damn trolleryou humiliated my brute to such an extent it birthed my stalker

EM is an awesome power and Gimpman and Public Enemy No.9 (as well as others) use it very well and I am quite envious of it at times (as we all are over other peoples powers
) Sadly PBAOEs take too much away from a pure melee build for me personally but it is awesome.
My build is not for everyone its a huge compromise in terms of defense (no scrapping for me) but i literally dont have a spare power at lvl30, if i can actually manage to pull Stalk out of Sirens and lvl him I may be able to start on the rest of my secondary.

aye thats exactly how I meant it. People are overrating stalkers and for new players they are an easy way to learn the ropes of PvP. Of course until they find that one day where experienced PvPers enter the zone and they find out they are dead meat.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem is these players dont find out they are dead meat. They discover like new Marco Polo that the other players are exploiting cheating haxX0ring etc and a bunch of other excuses for their probably bad builds or tactics and inexperience which is only natural. Then they pile petitions asking the exploits to be removed such as tp foe, hurricane, tactics, yellow insps, googles, perception buffs and all the powers and everyone is left with brawl. And then once u start using brawl on auto and they see their toggles gone cause you have it 3 slotted with acc on auto they start complain more and give u abuse. Thats whats the most annoying thing about stalker villains out there (cause the majority of these comments comes from stalkers that cannot believe how they are seen or killed), not that there are not heroes that provide such abuse to other villains etc but the majority of new player base comes from CoV and occurances like this come from the other side. The usual PvPers show courtesy, good fun and always put up a good battle and some good and funny trashtalking sessions for the fun of it in the zones...*pokes gandrel and Gimpy*
[/ QUOTE ]
its a pity, but I couldnt agree more with you there. When stalkers stay and fight, I just put brawl on auto to detoggle their mez protection, then watch em die as they keep getting knocked down thanks to ice patch and air superiority, while I hold em with freezing touch. They laugh at me when they see i mainly use brawl to attack them. Then call me haxx0r as they get detoggled and I decide to hand their [censored] over on a silver platter.
This attitude of people that cant stand that another build is better than theirs (heroes and villains alike, cause I cant stand the ZOMG!!1! Stalkers r so overpwrD!!! threads as well) is what ruins the PvP zones. The good and regular PvPers suck it up if they get defeated, and take all very lighthearted and know what theyre doing.
On the other side however, not everybody is a PvP regular and I agree (before we get THAT discussion) that you shouldnt be forced a PvP build if you go PvPing. However accept the fact that those who HAVE a PvP build will be better (buildwise) than you. Dont expect to go to a pvp zone to fight the heroes/villains there as you do in PvE.
Oh and I agree that trashtalking is all part of the fun, as long as you dont get abusive. Its fun standing in that corridor to the villain base in BB, while 10 villains decide to pound on you and all the turrets firing at you while you just do /em boombox on ice patch taunting them with "cmon you can do better than that!" while you hear them shouting on broadcast "get that friggin ice tank!!!".
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, brawl is a two edged sword, I like nothing better when I am in a team of squishies and tell them to autobrawl an impudent tank, its amazing how many people dont know the detoggle affect of brawl.
Trashtalk I think is bette suited for the arena as then you ahve a captive audience and chances are know the people involved, my fear for trashtalk in the PVP zones is that if a newbie pvper comes in not knowing anyone it can seem quite uncomfortable to them and they may get the wrong idea. -
Warburg seems like a dead duck sadly, the map which is going for a dark and ruined feel doesnt help its cause at all, beats me why Devs always go this way, yeah they try to but atmosphere and feeling into it but the fact it light open spaces is what people want like the hero side of Sirens which is where most of the fighting occurs (and there is no jagged outcrop that you get stuck in and NPCd. The bounty system in Sirens is also a big thing, if nothing else then you are getting something back, the warburg nukes were not a bad idea but the missions are pretty tedious to be honest. The map also doesnt ahve any real natural fighting spots like Sirens does either (that I ahve seen) aside from right outside the respective bases.
As a free for all zone too its just plain flawed, you can fight Hero v Villain, Villain V Hero, Hero V Hero and Villain V Villain but you cant intermix the team. Seeing as heroes are now your enemy I cant see a reason why this should not possible.
Personally I would be happy for them to remove the whole zone and throw up another in the style of sirens with a bounty system -

Darkest Night and Tar Patch are two of your best power, must haves IMHO. I got them as soon as I could. I'd get Darkest Night at 20 & TP at 24 (because I love Shadow Fall). Although I love Fearsome Stare too.
Personally I don't think MMs need 2 blasting powers. Thats what goons are for.
Life Drain is a terrible power when you have Twilight Grasp.

I concur, tar patch rules -

Not that it will help much cause these days I tend to team with a kinetic and empath anyway(increase density + cm + fortitude ftw!

As I do with my stone bruteof course bring more into the equation changes all the dynamics and leaves an ice tank watching his backup getting killed over and over

It helps you avoid being ASd in PVP, its not infalible but its not bad

[ QUOTE ]
as far as i know CE is auto-hit yeah.. or I'm just lucky I never met the stalker that could AS through it
Funny thing is that Ice PvE builds fare pretty well in PvP as well. Duke is not really a PvP build (yet some powers are tweaked to PvP) and not really a PvE build. I can imagine that Ice tanks with CE and icicles can be even more annoying to stalkers than just my mere CE (and ice patch..)
[/ QUOTE ]
we tp you out of ice patch -

(I want us to have all the same secondary ideally and the leadership pool)
[/ QUOTE ]
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - any single-secondary-AT group is always going to suffer from a lack of balance, will have holes in their defence, and will always be exploitable in PvP to a greater or lesser degree based on that.
Personally, I think a team comprised of 2 /Son, 2 /Cold, and 4/Kin would be fairly rounded and pretty damn scary to face.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree but human nature being what it is and people Having different schedules and the like what starts out as 8 will quickly dwindle to 4 at any one time onlineand gaps can be plugged as and when. From personal experience single secondary teams lvl much faster and gets to a position to be able to start pvping properly quicker

In the end you can play a stalker and get easy kills which is why it can be an easy class to play in part but dont assume its just for n00bs as when the game is raised like all other AT's a Stalker has to raise their game also.
[/ QUOTE ]
He didnt say its the AT for PVP new people exclusively. What he says is that every beginner to PvPing in Co* will be taking a stalker as its the best AT for a beginner to learn the ropes around PvP zones. However a stalker in the hands of really skilled players like Stalk-obot,Hackit and Gimpy truly excel weather teamed or not and are good challenge.
[/ QUOTE ]
aye thats exactly how I meant it. People are overrating stalkers and for new players they are an easy way to learn the ropes of PvP. Of course until they find that one day where experienced PvPers enter the zone and they find out they are dead meat.
When I'm playin Duke in Sirens or BB, the stalkers I fought before come nowhere near me cause they know I'll rip em up. That leaves the experienced PvP stalkers and the "new" stalkers. The experienced ones got new tactics and know they shouldnt try to AS me as it simply wont work. The new ones keep trying to AS me, fail, pull out, go back in, try again, rinse and repeat till I finish the villain I was still fighting and decide to turn on the poor stalker.
Don't get me wrong, I know good pvp stalkers and some can just put up a good fight. However stalkers are overrated and a new player can easily use one to take out some unsuspecting pvpers who dont know how to battle stalkers.
Like I said, any AT can be good, it just depends on the player playing them.
Oh and crystalwolf.. damn your telekinesis! Fun to see how people didnt know ice melee got a hold however lol
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly
That said its good that the stalker hate threads are now subsiding as people are playing them for themselves and discovering their many flaws firsthand.
Ice tanks are a damn nuisance for stalkers to say the least and a good one is a killer, that said after spending some time practicing against one (a long time) I do now have a clear tactic against them, me and one other stalker can take them down pretty quickly now (still not easy though)
Is CE an autohit BTW? As i can AS through mudpots and other PBAOEs that need a tohit roll. -

one villain even put on broadcast after me arriving for 5 mins: "they have an empath this is pointless"
[/ QUOTE ]
Makes me want to build an empath just to annoy people

Less fun than you think as you become the danger and therefore the prime target -
OK the plan I have is this, to form a 8 man team of the same AT, I am thinking corrupters at the moment due to the buffs/debuffs and healing capabilities and would like to get regular players to suggest what powersets to follow (I want us to have all the same secondary ideally and the leadership pool
) and indeed who would be interested in joining such a team.
It should be a nice fun team with no greifing or trash talking on broadcast, build up together and be able to take on the decent PVP teams that are out there.
So let me know what you think of the idea, what basic builds we should go for and see what we can organise. -
