  1. A Scrapper can bring to a team often times the same thing a Blaster can: more damage. Albeit, Blasters dish out the most damage in the game, but Scrappers are definitely no joke. Ever been in AP with all those boss farm broadcasters? They're asking for AoE-centric Blasters and Scrappers.
  2. Go make a Psy/ Blaster for PvP and slot that sucker in Will Domination, then tell me if you think it has any uses.

That proc alone has made Psy/ the go-to PvP primary for Blasters. Without it, Psy/ wouldn't be such a clear-cut choice.

Anyways this thread has made one thing clear

/Regen needs to be nerfed for Scrappers
    buffed for Stalkers
and given to Defenders as a new primary

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really hope you're joking. /Regen nerfed for Scrappers? As if it hasn't gotten nerfed enough already? It's turned into a "click-to-stay-alive" set, which is fine with me. But it should NOT get any weaker than it is now (not that it's weak, but other sets are far more powerful at the top end, ie Willpower and Shield Defense).

Stalkers? They -shouldn't- be as tough as Scrappers. Then they'd have all the advantages of a Scrapper plus being able to Hide.

Regeneration for Defenders is called Empathy.

Back to the original topic: Scrapper inherent needing a buff. Do they
-need- it to stay competitive? No. Not at all. They're one of the most well-balanced AT's in the game. I view criticals as just a nice bonus that sometimes happens. Scrappers certainly don't need any buff, and I believe they don't need a nerf at all either.
  4. I'd suggest Thugs, Bots, or Necro. Bots is hard to get to 32, but once you get there you'll be glad you did. It's not painful or anything getting to 32, but you won't rocket there like other MM's. Thugs is generally considered the most powerful, but I find it too boring (aside from the Briuser). Necro has to be the most fun and interesting, to me. Zombies are fairly flimsy but can deal out some good damage. The Grave Knights are practically your own Broadsword Scrappers, and they can deal out huge damage. The Lich, to me, is the most fun of all the tier 3 pets. It's not a damage dealer, it's pretty much a controller. It has Fear, Holds, Immobilizes, a self-heal, knockback and solid range powers. Not to mention all of the pets can heal themselves.

I advised MM's to another person who was a major altaholic. Definitely advise them to you.

Another good option is a /Regen Scrapper. There's a lot of timing involved and it's not easy to survive as well as other sets (takes more skill, but can for sure get there). Plus Scrappers are just great.
  5. You're right, with enough +recharge you should be able to have just 3 attacks in your attack chain. But you don't need your tier one if you're Psy. Instead of having Psi Dart, Mental Blast, TK Blast in your attack chain, you get: Mental Blast, TK Blast, Will Dom. You're relying less on your tier one power (the weakest ST power you get, usually). I'd say that's remarkably better.

Although it takes some hefty recharge to do that. Anyone know what recharge you need to get an attack chain that contains only Will Dom, Mental Blast, and TK Blast?

    Therm MMs (PvP)

I don't see what the big deal is, I think I'll stick to poison

    [/ QUOTE ]
Lol don't see what the big deal is? Therm is going to provide some of the best survivability for MM's in PvE and PvP, while also providing 2 great debuffs, one of which is possibly the best debuff in PvP.

I play on a Fire/Regen Scrapper, and i'll say that I'd much rather fight /poison than /thermal. Not having endurance = unavoidable death. HE completely floors my /Regen and almost floors my Recovery. I cannot say the same about /poison. Plus poison has no AoE heal and no shields. Forge is just icing on the cake.
  7. I meant Internet on my phone, silly.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
You have begun to do some PvP, and you only have SS? =X That's pretty much a failure to me, but YMMV. =/

Especially when I've seen a few people doing pretty good job with SS/CJ in their builds.

But I'd personally suggest you to get both SJ and SS, if you're going to PvP more. =X

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yea, I have just CJ and Hurdle and I get a long just fine. But I can't imagine not having both.
  9. I'm on my phone right now, so I can't send my build right now, but I'll be able to in a few days. That's only if you'd like to see it.

Also, what server do you PvP on?
  10. The ability for Will Domination to hold the placate proc is huge. It currently goes off everytime you use it (or damn close to it). If you don't know what Placate is: it's somewhat of an anti-agroe power. It makes your opponent targetless (if they were targeting you) and makes them unable to target you for several seconds. It means that you keep hitting your target with loads of damage and almost everytime you use Will Domination, they won't be able to target you. Unless you use Will Dom before the last Placate wore off; I don't think they stack.

There's also delayed damage. In zone, delayed damage means that your target won't know he or she is getting hit until 3 attacks hit him at the same time (Will Dom > TK Blast > Mental Blast is the best chain for this). And getting hit by those 3 attacks at the same time causes massive damage. If your target were hit by one attack at a time, he could just run or know he's being attacked before more than half his HP is gone. At least that's the only advantage I know of delayed damage.

Also, Sonic starts out hitting weaker than Psy at the beginning of the attack chain, but at the very end hits harder (due to the -res). Psy has good damage the whole way through, without needing to build up -res.
  11. Mercs aren't bad (truthfully, most Masterminds aren't bad). It's just that both Thugs and Bots can do things similar to Mercs, but they do it better. If you like an all-ranged primary, Mercs or Bots is for you. Thugs is mostly ranged with the tier-3 being melée, which can get tedious actually.

I brought a Mercs/Pain Dom into the 30's and had to stop because I didn't enjoy him like the others. It's all personal preference, though.

    Regeneration

It is so much fun to stand in RV waiting for a stalker to come gank you only to hit dull pain and heal all of that damage right back and then build up and throw down an incinerate on his [censored] to break his hide and make him run like a sissy girl.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quoted for truth.

I love love love when Stalkers AS me. No Stalker can ever singlehandedly take down a well-played, well-built /Regen Scrapper. Hell, you don't even need to hit Dull Pain. Hitting Reconstruction should heal you of most of the damage done. But the smart ones run like hell when you hit Build-Up and bring that Greater Fire Sword down on them. The stupid ones stay around for that 8 second fight that ends in their death and full health for the Scrapper.

Ah, to be a /Regen Scrapper in RV.

    Therm MMs (PvP)

Zombies do pretty well with sets that can provide decent damage mitigation (ie Traps, Storm). Their ToHit debuffs do get DR'd to practically nothing, unfortunately. Grave Knights hit about as hard as a MM pet can hit, which is nice. Also, the Lich's controls can detoggle your opponent's offensive toggles, something that is quite useful. The thing is, /Thermal fills in all the holes that Necro has. Offers great fire resists and good resists to other damage types; gives a great ToHit and Damage buff that can be permanently put on 2 henchmen; great debuffs; good heals.
  14. Spizzie

    Reg vs SD

For PvP? It's not even close. No secondary performs as well as /Regen does in PvP. Truthfully, no damage-mitigation set (primaries for Tankers, secondaries for Brutes, Scrappers, and Stalkers) performs in PvP like /Regen does for Scrappers. /Regen Scrappers IO'd out have some of the best survivability in all of PvP.
  15. Man, I know that a lot of people with disagree with this but I'd like to suggest Masterminds. They're an incredibly powerful AT (solo especially) and you have a lot to loon forward to the whole way to 50. I'd advise against Ninjas and Mercs to start off, though.

Go with Necro, Bots, or Thugs for Mastermind primaries. Each are quite powerful (Necro is my favorite). As for secondaries, I'd suggest Traps, Dark, or Storm. Storm has a bit of a learning curve, but it's VERY powerful. A Necro/Dark has massive controls, which I find loads of fun. Traps is just a very good overall set.

Maybe MM's aren't for you, but I had the same problem as you until I made my Bots/FF the day CoV came out. He's still my favorite character to this day.

    Therm MMs (PvP)

I'm making a Necro/Thermal. Zombies go down like tissue paper when those Fire Scrappers and Blasters come around. /thermal has great fire resists so that's good. Also, I just love Necro/ a lot. Who doesn't love flaming zombies!?

/Thermal is going to be a top tier MM PvP secondary when it comes out. I'm excited. Offers great debuffs like /Poison, as well as good healing and very good shields. Plus I want my Grave Knights perma-forged.

    Expired FOTM

BS/Regen Scrapper. Yes, I know it's good now. But it was my first 50 and first toon I ever made (in i3).

    I miss toggle IH.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
So, that is what Mids' does. The question now is, does it also work that way in-game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, actually. It does work that way in-game. It's been tested.

No, my young and ignorant friend, this is not what naturally happens when one sits at a computer and begins to type. This is what happens when a 12 year old sits at a computer and begins to type. Clarity and intelligence are sacrificed for brevity and some ineffable form of 'coolness'. Come back to us when you have completed high school, and perhaps we can engage in a civilized conversation.

I don't go into the SoA forums much. I'm more of a MM/Scrapper/Blaster/PvP guy. But I've never been more happy to have gone into a random forum than I am right now. I think that this above quote has convinced me to be a more frequent visitor of the SoA forums. It's quite possibly the most "Got 'em"/"PWN'T" post I've seen. And I've seen a lot of quotes by Werner.

You, sir, get 1000 internet points.
  20. The thing about that supposed "exotic damage type" for Spines is that Global PvP Resists make it so that the more exotic damage types (Psy, Toxic) aren't much less resisted than others. Even powers like Tough and the Patron Shields grant resists to all damage types rather than S/L.

MA really isn't a bad secondary, and it could possibly be better than Katana due to no weapon redraw and maybe better burst damage (but not as good sustained damage). The animations for MA can be quite long, which is a good thing for PvP. Remember, the longer the animation the more damage that attack deals. That's why you see Headsplitter and Greater Fire Sword hitting like trains.

I wouldn't advise /SD. I've only seen Tankers pull off SD in PvP, and they get different bonuses than we Scrappers do. Plus, having 3200 HP makes Tankers unbelievably tough.

In addition to what SpiderTeo_OC said about Rise to the Challenge detoggling by any little mez, you also need to be right on top of an enemy for an extended period of time to really get the regeneration bonus that it grants. And it's not likely that you'll be too close to one villain for anything longer than 2 or 3 seconds (unless it's a Brute, but Scrappers usually manhandle Brutes in PvP).
  21. The thought of that makes me sick.

Although I don't think it's true. Players will still play their Mind/ Doms, their /Therm Corruptors, and their Stalkers. Without question.

I've also watched Mind/Fire Doms handle up on Psy/EM Blasters pretty handily.
  22. /Regen blows Willpower away as the best Scrapper secondary for PvP. Blows it out of the water.

The best primaries are Broadsword, Fire Melee, and Katana. Although, of those 3, Broadsword and Fire Melee are pretty high above The rest. PvP is about burst damage, and those two bring the most burst damage to the table.

Spines is not good anymore. It's actually pretty bad (possibly the worst) considering it's so AoE based. And in PvP, you'll rarely use AoE attacks. Spines is pretty poor in PvE for Single Target damage, and the same holds true for its PvP performance. DM isn't so good either, unless you're into fiteklub. Claws is one of the worst, right there with Spines at the bottom. Martial Arts is middle of the road, maybe a little bit below average. It's inbetween Katana and DM.

If you wanna be a respected PvP Scrapper, you should go Fire/Regen or Broadsword/Regen. Katana can work, though.
  23. A /Regen honestly shouldn't be judged until you get him into the high 30's, similar to a /SR. Having mulitiple clicks is important. It means that at any given time, you have one of your life-saving clicks up. Without IH or MoG, you are missing 2 powers which are total life savers. I have 72.5% global recharge in my build. So at all times, DP, IH, or MoG is activated with Reconstruction being available about every 20 seconds.
  24. I sure appreciate those FF Bubbles and Sonic +res sheilds on my /Regen Scrapper. But then again, he doesn't have much resistance or defense to start with so DR doesn't hit it too badly.
  25. Doesn't Power Boost also help Build Up and Aim (the damage anyway, I know that DR hits ToHit buffs pretty hard)? Not quite sure on that, but I thought it did.
