Chance to Placate in a sleep set -- any uses?
I have it slotted in Poison Gas Arrow, which is an autohit debuff but only a 66% chance of a mag 2 sleep.
Ya, it's pretty awesome. Works great in a power you use often. Most of the time the enemy/player you put to sleep will be out of it quickly and won't be able to hit you right away, cuz they are placated.

Blinding powder.
for pve: i have it in my plant doms spore burst for when something bad happens and i absolutely have no other options recharged. also because it was a cheap set for the bonuses.
for pvp: i have it in my psy blasters will domination and it placates very very very often. people definately hate losing target every few seconds when the rest of the attack chain hammers them all at once.

Is there much benefit to placating something you're putting to sleep? I guess it's okay for bosses.

Placate is a debuff, thus it's unaffected by status protection. It can be resisted, by a very few critters, or by other players, but it can never be completely negated even in those cases.
Additionally, since there is no way to negate the effect, it means whenever the proc triggers, you're guaranteed that the target is Placated. It might be a shorter duration, due to Placate resistance (again, there are very few critters with Placate resistance, i've even seen screenshots of Hamidon and Mitos being Placated), but it will still be a guaranteed effect, just like Defense debuffs, Resistance debuffs, ToHit debuffs, Damage debuffs, etc.
So yes, it does provide a benefit. You can't "unplacate" a Placated foe, but you can wake up a Sleeping foe. It will provide more benefit in low mag Sleeps, or when used against foes with status protections, but it really can be beneficial for practically any situation where you find yourself using Sleeps.

You can break placate if you attack the placated foe, but it won't break if another player attacks the foe.
(Well, okay not 100% certain. I know Stalker's Placate breaks like this. I'm assuming it's like that with any placate effect.)

It's for when your tanker doesn't want to be told to herd.
1) Gather up a bunch of enemies.
2) Wait for your allies to attack them, assuming you will hold aggro.
3) Use salt crystals from the earth APPs, slotted with placate.
4) Profit.

^^ This is probably the kind of person that had the chance for stun proc in Speed Boost before they "fixed" it to not work on players (oh, I miss those days).

Go make a Psy/ Blaster for PvP and slot that sucker in Will Domination, then tell me if you think it has any uses.
That proc alone has made Psy/ the go-to PvP primary for Blasters. Without it, Psy/ wouldn't be such a clear-cut choice.

Well, i'm gonna have to disagree with that. I hardly use will dom cuz I somewhat feel the 100% chance for placate is a bit cheap, yet psy imo is still the clear cut choice for blasters.

33% chance.
100% against player targets. It's broken and it's been that way since at least I13 and probably since it was introduced in I11.
Also if you're not using Will Dom solely because that proc is broken, then take the proc out and put a damage proc in instead.

PvP takes no prisoners, so I can't agree with not using all of your resources to defeat another player. Without the ability to use that Proc, Psy/ is still the best. However, it makes the Psy vs Sonic argument a bit more balanced.
Got a Fortunata Hypnosis "chance for placate" (purple sleep set) IO last night. (33% chance to placate)
Does this have any utility? Is there much benefit to placating something you're putting to sleep? I guess it's okay for bosses.
