Therm MMs (PvP)

I was kinda hoping someone else would make a thread for this, but no one has. ><

I'm thinking of making a therm MM for i16 PvP, but no idea what primary to pair it with. I have PvPed with every single AT other than MMs. Well I PvPed a little with a thugs/poison and ninja/dark a long time ago, but it was nothing serious.

Anyways for PvP, which primary is currently on top: necro, thugs, bots? I'd prefer not to go ninjas because they're melee, and not mercs cause lol.... Or should I just wait for demon summoning?

Provided they don't increase the recharge or potency of Heat Ex, I think it should be pretty good.

Comments?

Funny the two you scratch off your list for lol reasons are among the best in pvp.

Mercs excel in zone pvp, because of being ranged and controls. The lethal damage aspect that makes them seem lol worthy in PvE doesn't apply in pvp.

Ninjas hit hard and fast, pvp is about speed and dps. Can't go wrong w/ ninjas.

There is no real primary thats king in pvp for MMs, secondary matters a lot more.

Thugs/Therm, Nin/Therm. I was tooling around with a Thugs/Therm build in a modified version of Mids, and that combo is gonna be tough to build.

I'm making a Necro/Thermal. Zombies go down like tissue paper when those Fire Scrappers and Blasters come around. /thermal has great fire resists so that's good. Also, I just love Necro/ a lot. Who doesn't love flaming zombies!?

/Thermal is going to be a top tier MM PvP secondary when it comes out. I'm excited. Offers great debuffs like /Poison, as well as good healing and very good shields. Plus I want my Grave Knights perma-forged.

Indeed /Thermal will be top tier out of the box for PvE and PvP. I'm wondering how watered down the MM version will be though. My guesses is the shields and heals will be at 75% what we know. And Melt Armor will have the same numbers as the Tanker version.

Still a very decent set overall for MMs

It's hard to say how much they might water it down, but steamy mist and world of pain provide the same resistance as Corr version. And FF bubbles provide same def as troller version.

Unless they specifically lower it, then it should provide the same strength resistance shields. The heals will be smaller in terms of actual green pts, but even they seem to be slightly inflated on Pain.
Soothe 21.6% heal for corrs, 22.9% for MM's
Nullify 11% heal for corrs, 11.7% for MM's

Melt armor should be the same, and actually a bit stronger -def for MM's (same -res though).

I'm not sure about HE, but if it is even close to the corr/troller version it will be amazing.

Not saying ninjas are bad, just that melee and me don't mix. I'm not defiantly stubborn though, if someone could convince me to make it though
Mercs, I just don't really like em, and thugs I know for sure are better.

How so? I've only had time to transfer rad to blasters so far.

[/ QUOTE ] How are zombies doing atm? Before they were liked because of slow resists and tohit debuffs, but since slows don't really matter as much anymore, and their tohit debuffs get neutered by DR (correct me if I am wrong) does that mean zombies got left in the dust behind thugs and ninjas?

[/ QUOTE ] As long as HE works I won't complain :P

Also one other question regarding how player AoE attacks do crap for damage in pvp, were pet attacks affected by this too?

Zombies do pretty well with sets that can provide decent damage mitigation (ie Traps, Storm). Their ToHit debuffs do get DR'd to practically nothing, unfortunately. Grave Knights hit about as hard as a MM pet can hit, which is nice. Also, the Lich's controls can detoggle your opponent's offensive toggles, something that is quite useful. The thing is, /Thermal fills in all the holes that Necro has. Offers great fire resists and good resists to other damage types; gives a great ToHit and Damage buff that can be permanently put on 2 henchmen; great debuffs; good heals.

Replying to Shinobi's bit about Thugs/Therm build here:

From Thugs you'll want the three pet summons and the upgrades. You'll probably want all the Therm powers but the rez (Thaw is debatable but I'd still not skip it). Assuming you skip Gang War (not necessarily a good idea since it's good for targeting overload) that's a total of 13 powers. That gives you 11 power picks to grab Fitness, a few travel powers, and your patron powers. You can do it but it'll be tight, and slotting won't be fun either.

I don't see what the big deal is, I think I'll stick to poison

Big deal = most MMs are already very tough to kill in PvP if played smartly. Add Therm into the mix and you've got pets with very high resistance and non-decaying heals (DR and HD don't apply to pets), as well as Heat Exhaustion, which ensures that your target will probably never have endurance unless he runs the whole match - not to mention Therm has a self-heal and Poison doesn't.

Therm shields + the 2 res pet procs is going to make some meaty pets both in pve and pvp.

I didn't mind /pain when I tried it for MM's, but I think thermal is ftw, less babysitting required and maybe even more powerful + HE = I win.

Lol don't see what the big deal is? Therm is going to provide some of the best survivability for MM's in PvE and PvP, while also providing 2 great debuffs, one of which is possibly the best debuff in PvP.

I play on a Fire/Regen Scrapper, and i'll say that I'd much rather fight /poison than /thermal. Not having endurance = unavoidable death. HE completely floors my /Regen and almost floors my Recovery. I cannot say the same about /poison. Plus poison has no AoE heal and no shields. Forge is just icing on the cake.

I will go MAN EATING FIRE ZOMBIE (Zombie/Therma)

AoE heal, self healing pets and strong single target heal is the more survivable Pets you can get for MM. Add the good resistant they already have with resistant buff.

IMO MM in PvP is all about been able to keep pets alive and running so they keep you alive and running. At soon a MM go vs anything with heavy on AoE everything go Downhill unless you have a good AoE heal.

Thermal will be awesome in PVP.

I want /Fire stalker. Because nothing says stealth like dumping a can of gasoline on yourself and lighting a match. -Morac

I'll probably make a Thugs/Thermal, hopefully Demon Summoning will have a RI pet so you can put all 4 aura procs(not counting the placate one, and the defense ones were a ***** to buy), I do like the idea of 40+% defense 40+%DR thugs.

Me? I'm still waiting to see what Demon Summoning brings, if it's ANYTHING like the Demon's I'm thinking (rather hoping) they'll be, I don't think we're going to be dissapointed at all, in both pvp and pve.

Other than that though, and if Demons turn out to be one major dissapointement, I'll be rolling either a Thug/Therm or Ninja/Therm for pvp.
