Well we as veterans don't consider it complicated.
But, it'd be hard to make that call if all you've seen is the bit of AP between the AE building and Ms. Liberty.
Personally? if I had a friend show interest in the game, I'd street sweep a heck of a lot. Then at least we'd move from zone to zone as the levels got higher, and end up exploring things as we progressed.
But apparently street sweeping is frowned upon, not because it's not farming, but that it's "inefficient" farming, or something... -
Looks to me like you couldn't just 'roll up' a meow without considerable forethought.
Which takes the "I didn't know it could be used for farming!!!" argument, wads it up, and tosses it in the oubliette. Exploit city, this. -

Point of order - BaB is one of the "Surviving Eight" (a bit of a misnomer considering that Ms. Liberty and several other heroes also survived the War) but is he really a card carrying member of the Phalanx? I've always assumed he was an independent since the Regulators more or less dissolved and he retired.

He does currently work with the Phalanx.
The thing about the Surviving Eight I've always found funny is that there are in fact, at least 9. Vanessa DeVore was a member of Alpha Team, and did survive the assault.
She gets glossed over though, cause she's a villain.
[/ QUOTE ]
That was when she discovered that she could consume the souls of her followers to increase her power, correct?
One of the biggest tragedies in the game, IMO. And yes, there is a theme song for Vanessa, and it's NOT based on circuses.
And yet another theme for Synapse, especially when he's being a bit emo. -
Well I guess that squashes the "MA is Dead" rumor... if it was, this wouldn't have warranted a server wallop or a redname forum post.
-
I think the reference was to what could have been the absolute coolest MMO out there... MxO... and they (SOE) fumbled it.
Yet, they're still in business. -

I just renewed a few days ago after not playing for several months, and then the you(the devs) start releasing all these notes about nerfing AE missions and getting rid of badges, etc. I just ran my first AE mission ever tonight to try it out since getting back. I got a couple of badges for it. The server goes down and I read the forums in the meantime and discover some of the neat new badges I just got are getting removed. This annoyed me and got me thinking about some stuff.
You seem to be catering this game more towards RPers than anyone else. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with RPers, but they seem to be the vocal ones complaining about farming and whatnot. So you are cracking down on farming now. Five years into the game and we still don't have end day content. All the expansion packs are really more geared towards RPers as they are costumes and emotes. They don't add any new playing content. Even your stated goal for MA seems to be more about getting players to write stories. Another aspect of RP.
Let's focus on the players a bit now. Really who cares about farms? It literally does not impact ANYONE. Yet you state you got numerous complaints over the farm AE missions. So what? The game is not more fun the slower it is to level. I'm not sure if this is a concept grasped by everyone on your team yet.
Many of the playerbase just want a game they can pick up and play and move up quickly to try out their nifty new powers. They want new content and not the same repetitious floorplans over and over. None of these requests are new. MA offered this and now you want to nerf it.
Maybe you focus most of your attention to the RP fanbase because their desires are cheaper and easier to implement. But they are also the smaller part of the playerbase. They may very well be sticking this game out until it dies, but is that all you are gunning for?
This isn't a request to keep farming in the game or to nerf RP. I just think you need to focus more on a balance of content for players and RPers. Please stop focusing all your decisions and releases around the RPers of the game. Look at things a bit more from the side of the player. Let's not forget the game in RPG.
PS- I also recommend you all try playing a couple of characters from 1-50 without any dev tricks, just as a normal player, to see how grindy things are. Then go on a couple of farm missions with some friends and see how fun the leveling can be in comparison.

If you want a Dev reply instead of player opinion, I would suggest that you PM this to a Dev. -
For Manticore, I was thinking along the lines of "Lawyers Guns and Money" by the late great Warren Zevon.
Although... for instrumentals... hrmmm...
21st Century Common Man by Tangerine Dream, perhaps?

Another possible Positron anthem.
This would fit with Sister Psyche, or possibly Clamor or Silver Mantis if you decide to throw together a "villain" video.
.. and this is for Numina.
And just cos Synapse is such a spazz...
-
You can't have Veteran of the Psychic Wars, I already use that for my cyborg MM. :P
However... this might be fun for Luminary...
Cliche'd... but I can see this one for Sister Psyche. Too bad it's already a title song.
Back Alley Brawler totally needs this song. -
At any time where the 'player' is trapped, I change up the contact text to indicate such. Yes, it's a suspension of disbelief, but it's easier on the player if you actually spell out the situation.
-
I'd just put in a slight variant of the succeed text, reflecting that the escort didn't make it to the door on their own.... but then something else happened to 'rescue' them after all.
-
I'd suggest the soundtrack to Cool World, in its entirety.
David Bowie
Thompson Twins
half of the Pet Shop Boys
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult
Ministry
et cetera et cetera
Of course you could just click on the 'soundtrack' link below, but, then you'd be listening to MY soundtrack, not your own. But it'd be a good place to create an ArbFab soundtrack, seed it with the major songs and let it cook. -
The problem with Ice as a powerset is, there's a lot of slows, knockdown, and DoT in it. So it'd be tricky to convert to a stalker powerset, unless you took the Ice Sword moves and expanded on them.
The Tanker Ice Melee set was considered for Brutes, but then it was discovered in Beta that the slow effect of the powerset severely affected Fury build-up (cos the mobs attacked more slowly). So Ice Brutes got shelved.
Also an Ice Cloak powerset would be ... interesting ... to code. My Ice Dom tends to attract a LOT of aqgro from the debuffs, which would be totally wrong for a stalker.
So a straight proliferation probably wouldn't work too well. -
I do.
My second account is approximately a year and a half behind my primary account.
However... it's not just veteran badges to keep an eye on.
A 50 with no exploration badges except Thrill Seeker has probably never ventured very far beyond the AE, as they've missed the Hero Corps Recruit and Patriot badges, which are the first two people tend to 'trip over'. Freedom and Top Dog take some effort, but they're widely known and easy to find once you have the means to get to them. Redside, if they don't have Next Big Thing or Snake Charmer, it's probably a good bet they haven't wandered around Mercy very much.
There's also the Accomplishment and Achievement badges, that indicate what 'key' story arcs people have participated in, what they've defeated, et cetera. A dearth of these is another gimme to an AE-only character.
A character's level just tells you how much XP they've got. The badge details tell you HOW they got it. -
well it is, sorta.
The last server you logged into will always be at the top of the list, with the rest of them sorted from light load to heavy load.
If you're very server-monogamous, your fave server will always be the first one in the list. If you switch from one server to another, you'll have to go find the 'other' server whenever you switch. -

... yeeeaah. I think we'll be able to get by without that kind of editorializing, thank you.
Opinion != fact
Please don't present one as the other. And I'll thank you not to put words to my posts that weren't there before you 'interpreted' things. -
I think it boils down to this:
Ignorance is an easily curable condition.
Stupidity is not; furthermore it is contagious in tight quarters and crowded conditions. Quarantine is therefore indicated. -
1) Check your system for dust, make sure your fans are all working.
2) uninstall the video drivers (use Driver Cleaner or equivalent to wipe them off the drive) and reinstall. You may have some of the older files from the earlier driver version.
3) Post a CoHHelper and HijackThis report - it's good info to know if we need to get into the details. -

How in the **** have I cheated myself out of content I personally have done over 50 times?
I hate that side of the fence, "Oh you will cheat yourself out of doing the same **** you have already done a bazillion times"
If someone has over 20 50s in this game and they are still playing it, really it shouldnt matter to you at all what they are doing or why, unless they break the TOS or EULA.

The question was "should newbies PL?", Pain. Not vets.
