My personal belief is that all Tankers take taunt. It's definitely a useful tool and it should be utilized as such.

But... with that being said, I still believe everyone has the right to build/play their toons as they see fit. And I have the right whether or not I want to play with them.

Do Tankers -need- to take taunt? Not necessarily. I've been on plenty of Task Forces where there has not been a Tank or Brute, hence no taunting. The team make up can compensate for that with buffs, debuffs, etc.

    tl;dr

Do Tanks -need- taunt? No. Is it highly recommended and helpful to your team? Yes.
  2. Before I got into badging, I had a bunch of different toons that I played. Most of them were Solaranger<insertcolorhere> or some variation. They were all part of the same "team."

The past year or so I've been playing my Zombie* toons a bit more exclusively. Fryer (fire/kin controller) is my all around badge ***** multipurpose toon. I also have a few brutes that I play on the regular - Smasher (SS/Shld), Basher (StJ/WP) and Destroyer. Destroyer is my newest project- Titan Weapons / Electric Armor. Been working on his Incarnate stuff.

I guess the brutes play more towards my playstyle these days. I like being able to rush into a mob and basically wreck them Even exemp, I was kicking butt last night on a Citadel TF.
  3. Many thanks to everyone who works on Mids
  4. Was this changed recently?

It used to be that anyone on the team would receive the badge if the mission owner spoke to the Latin Student.

That was not the case just now...

I don't recall seeing any announcement of this being changed either...
  5. I usually play either my Fire/Kin Controller, SS/Shld Brute or StJ/WP Brutes.

I tend to play all 3 the same way-- charge in head first

... it gets me into trouble when I play other toons though >_> <_< >_>

Uhm. How are Brutes "WAY more squishy" than tanks?

I'm not a hardcore number cruncher like some of the folks in this thread, but:

Brutes share the same resistance cap as tanks - 90%
Brutes can soft cap defense like every other AT - 45%+

Yes, Tankers have a higher Max HP at 3534 with Brutes at 3212.7 Max HP, but wasn't 3212.7 Tanker's Max HP before they got an increase some issues back? And IIRC Tankers were still doing just fine prior to that.

Either way, I know this has nothing to do with the thread - I just think it's unfair to say that Brutes are -way- more squishy than Tankers.

Michael Hutchins, a 14 year old student one of the Rogue Isles' few remaining public schools, discovers while building a snowman outside his home that he can bring snowmen to life, and that they will do his bidding. He starts to wonder what he can do with this power ...
Michael had been bullied all year so naturally the first thought that came to mind was using his powers to get revenge those who hurt him. With an army of snowmen at his disposal, no one would dare harass him again! But being the shy, timid teenager that Michael was, he decided against it - despite how much they deserved it. Michael had a kind heart, even through growing up in the darkness of the Isles.

"With great power, comes great-- how does that go again?" Michael thought to himself. "I'll look it up later," he continued thinking.

Sitting on the steps of his home, Michael starting testing the limits of his powers. He had already created three snowmen. He named them Frost, Snowball and Carl. Carl was the scariest looking of the three. While they weren't picture perfect, they each had their own personality and flair.

Thinking about what to do, Michael remembered how well his Lemonaide stand did last year - how happy it made people, the smiles it brought to their faces and the extra money it put in his family's pockets. He thought, "Why not a snowcone stand!?" And this time, he could make it bigger and better since he had his newly formed snowmen to help him.

Michael ran into the house and grabbed some clothes from his dad's closet: three pairs of pants, three hats and three scarfs. "You can't have pantsless snowmen!" he smirked to himself. The four of them spent the next 30 minutes setting up the stand in front of their house. Frost setup the table. Snowball started making the sign. Now, this wasn't the easiest job for a snowman since he didn't quite have fingers. Michael easily solved this problem with a stick, sharpee marker and duct tape. Carl was tasked with making the snowcones.

As everything was going smoothly, Michael ran off to promote his stand. He went to all his neighbors and gathered as many people as he could! There's something about walking snowmen that intrigue people. Michael led everyone back towards his home where he saw the table lined up with over 50 snowcones just ready to be sold! He was so thrilled! Carl had done an outstanding job.

Michael collected the money while Carl handed out the snowcones. Every one of Michael's neighbors were happy and full of smiles! But... something just didn't seem right.

Michael looks to his left, then looks to his right and then ultimately looks at Carl, who is still handing out snowcones.

Perplexed, Michael asks, "Carl, where are Frost and Snowball?"

You can only have one stealth IO slotted per character (doesn't matter if it's from a different set either).

So if you have one slotted in Sprint, you cannot slot one into Super Speed/Flight/Super Leap.

  11. I could've sworn there was a general thread for costume suggestions, but my search fu has failed me.

Anyway, I would love to be able to add hats to my characters that use Monsterous heads.

A dapper werewolf in a suit and tophat? Yes please.

So Santa... please give me hats for Christmas

So with that... <insert Santa's Sack joke here>
  13. When I first started doing the trials, I broke them down into threads so that I could craft components for powers.

I think I may have bought a few rares with them also.

After I was all t-4ed, I used Emps/Astrals for all the unlocks at the venders in Oro.

After that....... hrm.... one, two, seven, eleventy, ... errrr.....

  16. When the topic of modern movies sucking comes up, a friend of mine always points out something that kind of makes sense: studios make movies based on what they know already sells. This is why you tend to see a lot of remakes of old movies. People recognize them. There's little guess work involved. Even if the movie sucks, it will still bring in enough to make a profit. The name is already out there.

I think the same could be said for movies inspired by comic books and other mediums. But the problem that I see with comic movies in general is that the audience has some idea of what's going on going into the movie - and hardcore fans more so.

Comic movies tend to start with an origin story. Most fans already know the origin of these characters so for us, we already know what's going to happen in that regard. (And then get annoyed when the studios make changes but that's another story).

I think they did it right with The Hulk (Ed Norton). The intro sequence gave you a brief history of the character, enough that you knew how he came to be, and then the movie goes right into the story. If memory serves, I think the subsequent Spiderman movies did the same.

All in all, I think Marvel and DC have done decent jobs adapting (and that's the keyword, adapting) their comics to movies. I mean, Alan Moore didn't want the Watchmen being made into a movie because he knew there we certain things that could be conveyed on paper that couldn't be done properly in film.

I take comic movies with a grain of salt. They'll never be 100% true to the source material (same as any movie that's ever been inspired by a novel). I take it for what it is and go from there. It's easier to go into something with no so you can't be let down

    As always, just my 2cents.

    YMMV

I don't doubt you got some at a lower price, but they most certainly did not stabilize at that price after a week or two.

I know all hell was running a very active candy cane trade as well last year.

Edit: HOWEVER, I would not be surprised to see them drop that low, or even lower, this year and stay there. The event went on for a LONG time last year, and there are a lot of canes out there. Add to that the fact that people can outright buy the costume pack now, and there's plenty of supply to fill demand. i saw that coming last year and didn't bother to get into canes this year... not enough RoI.
Anything's possible. I know that they definitely dropped sub-100k/ea, but maybe not quite as low as 20,000.

And I agree that with the Holiday Pack on the store, there may be a more plentiful supply of candy canes floating around at lower prices.

With the Holidays right around the corner, Mirror Spirit and War Witch are doing their part to collect donations for the Paragon City Toys for Tots program.

Sadly, Black Scorpion could not find a Santa costume that would fit.
