Quote:Which is why I'm questioning the naming of the pack... Valentine's Day is most associated with romance, not dating. That's why I said "dating"
Dating can be focused just on fun, not romance - there are plenty of people who are fun to be with, but who don't cause you to have any deeper feelings of love for them.
Quote:I did consider that when posting but I chose to stick with what in my opinion is most thematic with the holiday in question.
The flower burst is a good idea that would also work as an Aura.
Quote:Thanks. I was too lazy to look that up when I was posting. -

Quote:See... that makes sense... Which is why it wasn't done.I'm not the one that made that decision. If I had a say in the matter a Valentines Pack would have consisted of:
Toga
Sandals
that head piece thingy
a Belt with Hearts on it
Cupid's Bow
a Give Flowers Emote
a Give Heart shaped box of Chocolates Emote
a White Doves costume change (as opposed to the black ravens we got during Halloween)
a Cupid non combat pet that shoots arrows at other players/NPC's which cause an Aura of Red Hearts to appear on them for 1 minute.
a Red/Pink Hearts Aura (no other colors allowed)
Also, I'd think that changing the Hearts Aura to allow all colors would be better... After all there are Black Hearts and Blue hearts as well. A "flower burst" costume change emote would work too.
Finally, "that head piece thingy" is called the victory laurel. -

Quote:100% agreed. This was either a Marketing or Business Management failure. Either way, they need to drop the "Valentine" from the name and have it available all year round.that pack for sure should be available all year. Real holiday event packs, like the Winter one, I can understand. But this one is just stupid.
Calling it a "Valentine's Pack" doesn't make it, in any shape or form, associated with Valentines. -
Yeah, I find that the fact that you have to set the option (and that it resets itself) per character to be incredibly stupid.
-
Well, I was sort of hoping to head to PAX Prime this year, but the 3 day passes sold out within a day and the individual day passes were gone by the next.
Yes, I should have bought tickets but had other priorities to deal with.
Anyways, I hope that anyone actually attending will have a good time & not get sick. -
Quote:Then you don't understand the reasoning behind it. It is supposed to be high. They are prestige items and should be treated as such. When in the retail stores, the difference between the regular and DVD editions were $20. Now you got the physical items and the digital items for that $20 difference, so I cut the price in half. Even the difference between the other in-game packs (Good vs Evil, AE, Mac/Valkyrie Pack, and GR bonus) the prices were $8-$10 for the in-game items only. The 800pp prices are WAY the heck too high in Snow Globes' suggestion. For what you get, they are not worth a powerset. Not in a million years.
I seriously doubt that they would not sell for 800 pp, given the constant complaints that these items are not available otherwise for less than $10 (often as high as $100 or more).
Short reply: Tough. -
The reason I said 800 for the CE is simple: the retail packages were $20 more in store, but these wouldn't include the physical items.
The GvE costumes, while they could be merged to 400, I thought it would be close to the price of an expansion pack. However, I forgot about the GvE Jumpjet & Pocket D VIP pass. I'm not that bound to saying the Justice & Sinister costumes should be sold separately.
Quote:There was a time when the prestige slide was sold as a separate item pack. If they've done it before, I don't see why they can't do it again. I think part of the discussion the last time I remember this coming up was something about whether physical items were included or just the digital goodies. -
Quote:Well, we can look at the "Freem Fifteen" (the fifteen developers that were left working on CoH/V after Cryptic reduced the team by ~75% in 2006.) *:Of course, I know this means they'd have to get rid of Positron and WarWitch at the very least and possibly some others (Crosscheck? Giant Monster? TheDarkWatcher? Ghost Falcon? Maybe others?).
- Positron (Lead Designer)
- BAB (Animations & FX artist)
- Castle (Powers)
- Ghost Widow (Programmer)
- War Witch (Zone creation)
- Constellation replaced by Hero 1 (Story bible)
- JLove (Costumes)
- Ken Morse (Art Lead)
- Nick replaced by Don Pham (Environmental/3D artist)
- Brett replaced by Graham
- Blue Steel (Design support)
- Serdar replaced by Mynx (Producer)
- Richard Higbee (AP/Build Engineer)
- Aaron Brady (Lead programmer)
- Garth Gillespie (who moved over to Core Tech before the acquisition)
Of those, the following are pretty much known to not be with the company still, or not involved with the choice as they were replacements:- BAB
- Castle
- Constellation replaced by Hero 1
- Ken Morse
- Nick replaced by Don Pham
- Brett replaced by Graham
- Serdar replaced by Mynx
That leaves the following:- Positron
- Ghost Widow
- War Witch
- Blue Steel
- Richard Higbee
- Aaron Brady
- Garth Gillespie
Quote:I don't think the idea of getting rid of those people so they can change plans would go over very well. -
Menu->Options->Controls, near the bottom of the list:
Enable Camera Shake - Enabled/Disabled
Enabled - allow certain effects to "shake" the camera (simulates ground shaking)
Disabled - never "shake" the camera

Quote:As the owner of both collector editions, I would have zero problems with the following:So, hey, if they show up in the store, I (owner of both COH and COV CEs) am *perfectly* fine with it (and am surprised it took this long.)
CoH Collector's Pack - 800 Paragon Points:- Prestige Power Slide Sprint power
- Cape of the Four Winds
- VIP/Destined One/Praetoria's Son/Praetoria's Daughter Badge
CoV Collector's Pack - 800 Paragon Points:- Arachnos Cape
- Arachnos Chest Symbol
Edit:
Also missing from the Paragon Market are the Good vs Evil Edition costumes, so the following bundle could be added:- Justice Costume Set - 400 Paragon Points
- Sinister Costume Set - 400 Paragon Points

Quote:Ask a friend, on a global channel, or do any one of the missions or tasks that would normally get the trusted with the secret badge. If you've PL'd to 40+ go into the usually dead Recluse's Victory to get an explore badge.I'll give this a yes vote. I used to look for O-portals in WW to get my own badge and portal. Now I actually have to ask someone to lay one down for me.
Yes, it is called getting away from people that want to leave their toggles on or spam heals. Thank you for additional ammunition against this suggestion though. -
Quote:/Unsigned as it directly is selling badges. No matter how much you think you are avoiding it, it is selling a badge.-A rare contact drop that gives access to a hidden story arc, as well as a badge for that arc's completion. I think players would salivate over this - more so than the black wolf pet - especially badge hunters. It's also gray enough to circumvent complaints of "paying for badges." Perhaps only the team leader would be eligible for the badge to prevent people from simply teaming with recipients in order to receive it.
I think this might be a given, but I would still like the option to buy them separately from the packs after they are live for 6-9 months. -
It is very easy to be blinded to the essential uselessness of their products by the sense of achievement you get from getting them to work at all. In other words - and this is the rock solid principle on which the whole of the Corporation's success is founded - their fundamental design flaws are completely hidden by their superficial design flaws.

Quote:No, they have two modes for power sets: full price (800 PP) or 25% off (aka 600 PP). I've yet to see a not free for VIP power set go for anything but 800 or 600 paragon points.Quote:I think he was saying that it is nice to see a purchase-only power set on sale again
If I remember correctly, Street Justice hasn't been on sale before. No other VIP-bought power set has been lower than 600 points either to my knowledge. -
Quote:With Issue 23: Where Shadows Lie, we'll be rolling out a new look for the City of Heroes website and forums. I figured that since so many of us spend hours looking at the forums, why not let the Community have a say in what the skin of the forums will look like?
Take a look at the options below and be sure to cast your vote above!
Sorry, that is the politest way of saying it. It is obvious that someone is completely enamored by Yin, but I don't like her. I don't like her background, I don't like how she is portrayed since her "upgrade" from a generic Faultline contact, and I don't like her in-game. She ranks down there with Fusionette, Lady Jane, and a host of instantly forgettable NPCs in this game. -

Quote:I would agree, providing the following restrictions:I keep seeing the repeated suggestion that we need an influence sink in game. After watching much of the Pummit it occured to me that there might be a way to kill two birds with one stone.
How about selling the Super Packs (both pack I and the soon coming pack II) through a vendor at Pocket D? The vendor could have a booth like a legit biz or could be some shady character standing in a shadowed corner. Whatever, as long as one is there!
I am unsure of pricing so this number will need adjusting, but perhaps something like 100,000,000 or so would buy a five pack Super Packs. (25 cards total).
This would remove some (Or even much!) of the inflation causing excess Inf from the game and it would allow some of our more cash poor players a shot at some of the Super Pack rewards. . .- Put only the costume parts and vanity pet for sale in this manner. Still account wide, or if per character, at a severe discount (1-10 million inf per item).
- Release these sets in this manner only when the next pack comes out so that the people buying the packs get an exclusive period of use.
Edit:
How about selling untradable Dual/Team Insps for 100,000 - 500,000 per inspiration? -

Quote:The Cape & Auras unlocks (160 PP each) are from character creation on, account wide.I was looking at that the other night but didn't pick it up as the store text doesn't make clear that it unlocks at creation- the wording left me unsure if I'd still have to wait for level 20 or whatever.
If it unlocks as 1, that's the deal of the century!
Some special items do have to wait until you get into the game, namely the incarnate purchased auras. -
Quote:Took it already. Gave it to some Vogons. They promised to make some firelighters with the results.
