As long as both your character and the enemy are level 20 or over, yes. Not including the AE critters, of course.

I've gotten tips on my level 50 character by defeating level 20 enemies.

    Yep, that works better.
  3. I think you did it just by taking the mission in the first place.

Yes you get the Loyalist badge for choosing a Loyalist option. You get the Resistance badge for choosing the Resistance option.

It would be nice, to have a choice instead of going Hero or Villain in the process to have an alternate choice of Vigilante or Rogue accordingly.

Thus Villain-Rogue-Vigilante could be a path, as well as Hero-Vigilante-Rogue another.
As I told another player that suggested this: The developers are not likely to let players bypass a whole alignment. It would throw out balance entirely.

The alignment system is balanced so that you have to spend a few days at each alignment stop. What you are asking is that Players could start out being a hero, turn vigilante, bypass being a villain going straight to rogue but still get all the villain perks, and quickly becoming a hero again when things become too inconvenient. In other words, you get all the benefits without most of the downsides.

I'll add this suggestion: Don't define your characters with game mechanic labels.

So, this morning I was able to fully run the final Morality Mission with Ghost Widow with one of my heros. When I exited the mish, it put me right back in PI where I started blue side. I then went to Pocket D and got to the vator, a prompt came up saying I am about to venture to the Rogue Isles and I would lose any Hero Merrits that I have accumulated while on blue side. I went through and bam! there I was red side! Felt kinda weird. Heh, heh.

Now the next question I have is it now showed three bars in my Tip Window.
    Hero
    Vigilante
    Villain

I am currently considered a Vigilante which was my middle bar. So, to be come a "full" villain, I assume you need to run more tip mish'es red side and you will get not two choice now but three, would that sound correct? Being that now I have three moral choice to make on my path. The thing that I am still a bit confused about is when I think of "Rogue" I think of "Villain".
Read the guide linked to in my sig. Really, it explains everything you've asked. Guide to Going Rogue's Morality System - In plain English.

You should be saying Vigilante, not Rogue at this point as the terms are not really interchangeable, unless there is a translation issue with the game. Vigilantes are still sort-of heroes, while rogues are sort-of villains.

Rogues will see these alignment bars:

Here is the progression between alignments:

    Hero <-> Vigilante -> Villain

    Villain <-> Rogue -> Hero

    Now to answer your question:
Paragon City Tips (blue side zones)
    Hero or Vigilante:
    • Hero option.
    • Vigilante option.
    Rogue:
    • Hero/Rogue option.
    • You will not be offered the vigilante option.
    • Some tips are labelled Rogue, but they are heroic tips.
Rogue Isles Tips (red side zones)
    Villain or Rogue:
    • Villain option.
    • Rogue option.
    Vigilante:
    • Villain/Vigilante option.
    • You will not be offered the rogue option.
    • Some tips are labelled vigilante, but they are villainous tips.

    info window bind

    Try this:
    /bind shift+numpad5 "window_hide Info"

This will turn off the info window. You can't toggle it open.

You could make a couple of bind files:

    myinfo.txt
    Code:
    numpad5 "info_self$$bindloadfilesilent myinfo1.txt"
    myinfo1.txt
    Code:
    numpad5 "window_hide Info$$bindloadfilesilent myinfo.txt"
Put both the files into the "/city of heroes/data" directory for easy loading.

There are also missions in the Patron Arcs and the VEAT arcs with PPD.

Does that mean I can only go do paper missions up to get an introduction to get normal missions?

I know I can join other morality missions and they will count, just wondering why I cant get any normal missions to get tips. In the guide it does not list normal missions from contacts!

    Thanks
A vigilante in the isles can:
    • Do villain/vigilante (vigilante tips in the isles count for villain alignment) tip missions.
    • Do rogue missions but not get credit for them.
    • Do paper missions.
    • Do mayhem missions.
    • Start or participate in any Strike Force.
    • Join villains doing their contact missions.
    • Street hunt.
    A rogue in Paragon can:
    • Do hero/rogue (rogue tips in paragon count for hero alignment) tip missions.
    • Do vigilante missions but not get credit for them.
    • Do police band missions.
    • Do safeguard missions.
    • Start or participate in any Task Force.
    • Join heroes doing their contact missions.
    • Street hunt.
My favorite tip hunting ground is in the Agincourt area of Nerva as the longbow bosses there are easy to pick out. It doesn't matter if the critters defeated are conning grey, they will still drop tips as long as the defeated enemy is level 20+ and not in the AE.
  12. Summary:
I know this was reported in the beta test, and I know this was an problem a few years ago. The Fog of War for the minimaps keep resetting after a certain point. It used to only happen in the shadow shards, the hive, of PVP zones as those were usually the last zones visited. With the [Reveal] vet power, the zones will not clear the fog of war. The power actually will reset these zones to faded or black status. Now with Going Rogue, characters are able to visit more zones and now can hit the new upper limit just by switching sides, and not including starting from Praetoria.

    Bug details:
The bug stems from the fact that each character has a buffer that can hold X amount of non-mission zones. The problem stems from the fact that there are more non-mission zones than this buffer allows. I'm guessing that there are some buffer overruns related to this as the clear data is not saved.

On my controller that I've had since 2005, I've visited or been to the following non-mission zones:
Hero Tutorial (map data is persistent between logins.)
    1. Atlas Park
    2. Brickstown
    3. Founders' Falls
    4. Galaxy City
    5. Independence Port
    6. Kings Row
    7. Overbrook "Faultline"
    8. Peregrine Island
    9. Salamanca "Croatoa"
    10. Skyway City
    11. Steel Canyon
    12. Talos Island
    13. Sewer Network
    14. Paragon Dance Party
    15. Abandoned Sewer Network
    16. Astoria "Dark Astoria"
    17. Baumton "Boomtown"
    18. Eastgate "The Hollows"
    19. Eastgate Tunnels "The Tunnels of the Trolls"
    20. Perez Park
    21. Striga Isle
    22. Terra Volta
    23. "The Hive"
    24. Venice "Crey's Folly"
    25. White Plains "(The) Rikti War Zone"
    26. Woodvale "Eden"
    27. Fire Base Zulu
    28. Cascade Archipelago
    29. The Chantry
    30. The Storm Palace
    31. Pocket D
    32. Bloody Bay
    33. Siren's Call
    34. Warburg
    35. Overbrook "Faultline" revamp
    36. Recluse's Victory
    37. Sharkhead Isle
    38. Grandville
    39. Nerva Archipelago
    40. St. Martial
    41. Port Oakes
    42. Mercy Island
    43. Cap au Diable
    44. The Abyss
    45. Monster Island
It is at number 41 where the fog of war starts resetting and the [reveal] vet power stops working in outside zones for this character. On the test server I changed the order I visited and had different blackout zones. I still had the same amount of blackout zones however.

    What this means:
With the addition of the 7 Praetorian maps (Praetorian Tutorial, NP, IC, Neu, and the 3 underground maps) that Praetorians that start blue side might not be able to clear any of the CoV zone's fog of war, and even have CoH zones "stuck". Given that more Praetorian zones will likely be added in future issues, the maximum amount of zones that can be buffered should be increased.

    Edit:
As a note I looked for a similar thread to this before making my own and couldn't get results from the search engine.

I was able to buy a LOTG with alignment merits without owning Going Rogue.

    Edit:
Fort Trident only checks to see if you are a hero. The Crucible only checks to see if you are a villain. If you are a vigilante or rogue, you can't enter either.

I am carrying 3 alignment tips and so far no morality tip has dropped. But I am possibly misunderstanding something.
You can have 3 alignment tips or 5-Public Fame in tips. The morality mission is not a part of the 5 counting tips in a day, but they do count towards the 3 max you can have on your character at one time.

You can only get a morality mission if you have reached 10/10 on an alignment bar, and only if you own Going Rogue. If you get a morality mission drop while not having Going Rogue, you will get an annoying popup message asking you if you want to buy Going Rogue:

Everyone that posted above me is wrong. You can buy Alignment merits for 20 million inf + 50 reward merits from the hero or villain lounges. I know because of the whole Gamestop fiasco and not getting GR until the 25th. I was able to buy 2 alignment merits and I was able to use those alignment merits to get a LOTG +Recharge.
  16. By the way for all readers of this thread:

The game reads LSHIFT+Button/key or RSHIFT+Button/key as SHIFT+Button/key.

    The game reads LCTRL+Button/key, RCTRL+Button/key, LCONTROL+Button/key, or RCONTROL+Button/key as CONTROL+Button/key

The game reads LALT+Button/key or RALT+Button/key as ALT+Button/key.

The "L" or "R" before the control key (Shift, Control, ALT) do not work as chords (modifiers) for other keys.

Maybe they thought everyone would just play in Praetoria until lvl 20, then come to Paragon or Rogue Islands and the tips would start falling then. If you think of the player starting off in Praetoria, the patch notes make perfect sense.
Near the beginning of beta they level bumped players to level 20 so that they could test the alignment system. The tips system is designed for level 20-50 play.

That is a bug and every time the developers found a hole like that in beta they tried to plug it.

No, it is not working as intended. Both the player and the defeated enemy has to be level 20 or above to generate a tip drop. You have to be trained to level 20 for the alignment tab to even appear. Just being a combat level 20 character will not get tip drops.

Any time the developers heard about enemies below level 20 dropping tips they have plugged the hole in beta. I'd expect the same thing to happen soon for this too.

Go to Terra Volta, Dark Astoria, or Striga. Defeat bosses and get tips quickly.
