is anyone else that uses Badge-Hunter.com not able to get to the website? I havent been able to get to the website in almost 2 days now. Its like the browser isnt even attempting to load it, just immediately gives me the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Tracert and ping commands cant find anything either.

PM'ed BeefCake about it and he says the site is up and running.

Just curious is anyone else is having this problem.

I had a prolem with it a week or so ago when they were changing IP addresses or whatever, but it's been fine for me since, including the last few days.

Sorry

Just tested it, works fine. I suspect you are having a DNS issue.

For those having issues still, it's possible your ISp hasn;t updated its DNS. You can try running the following command to see if it will help you.

ipconfig /flushdns

Run it a few times and see if it helps, if not, you'll have to wait for your ISP to update their DNS. But this will normally happen in a 72 hour period and the site has been moved over 2 weeks ago, so that should be more than enough time.

I have never encountered this before with any site. I am having the same issue as Abraxxus, and have tried the ipconfig /dnsflush suggested. I also attempted logging into badge-hunter through a proxy server: That worked fine with a few scrolling issues (that is probably the proxy server). I have applied a DNS flushing add on to Firefox, and have reset my router twice. We cannot access badge-hunter.com from any of the three computers on our home network. I have had this problem for over 2 weeks, and until today thought perhaps Beefcake had the site down for updates.

Is this something I should be calling my ISP (Cogeco) about to get it corrected? Is there any other solutions I could be trying?

You can try calling your ISP, but I doubt that will help anything. But it will never hurt.

As I've stated, the site was transfered to a new server a week or so ago and normally takes 72 hours for the DNS to update. If you're trying the badge-w*ore.com this may be your problem as this domain will soon be dead.

So make sure you use badge-hunter.com and not the other.

After you call your ISP, please keep me updated as to what was said. But the site is getting roughly 100 sign-ups a day, so I know the domain has settled for many people, so it may be your ISP being slow in updating their DNS.

Something is a little weird here. I was able to get in right after you put up the announcement for the new I18 viewable maps(a day or 2 ago) but that was only the 3rd or 4th time I have been able to log in since you changed sites. That is with the DNS flushing.

If it was consistent I might be able to figure it out but every once in a while the site will pop up seemingly at random.

I'm in Italy so I'm used to intermittent Internet problems but it is just your site I'm having problems with at this time.

Is there any thing you might recommend in addition to the DNS flush? I would try the server change but I'd have no Idea how to put it back if it didn't work or worse borked my whole connection somehow. My network-fu is sorely lacking.

I had this problem a week ago. On Sunday (and again Monday) I was able to access Badge-Hunter and Vidiotmaps.

Now today.... I am getting the DNS error again.

Just to let everyone know, I'll be contacting my hosting company tomorrow to go over the site and make sure all is in order with the nameserver, just to make sure it's not on our end.

I've had a few hikkups myself on the site, so I'll have them make sure everything is working ok. And I'll leave a link to this thread to show them that others are having issues as well.

It's possible it may be from our end of things, so bear with me until I can update this thread on the issues you are all having.

Thanks,
Beef

Thanks, Beef. The problem still occurs chronically with me despite repeated DNS flush and cookie purge. My ISP shows no errors in their service and I can surf to anywhere else at the same time as I try to access badge-hunter.

The times I seem to have trouble accessing the site are in the evening and at night, but I don't remember it being a problem before GR was released. It almost seems to be like a Denial of Service attack, but instead it's probably from all the people tracking their characters, and the host throttles access. (For reference, I have AT&T DSL service.)

Ok update for you fine badging folks...

The site should be corrected now. It was from the servers end. It seems the site was reaching its maximum capcity when it comes to resources and processes to the DB. So when this capacity was reached, it would throw off a error page making it look as if the site was down.

I'm on a newer server with much more resources and no limitations. So please report any other issues you may find or have with the new server. I think most of the kinks have been worked out already. Unfortunately some of you may have to wait for you ISP's DNS to be updated in order to access the site again. But for the most part it should be pretty seamless.

Speeds of the site should be much faster now, so hopefully we won't have any further issues.

Thanks, for your patience,
Beef
