  1. This will be 6 PM Pacific/8 PM Central/9 PM Eastern this Saturday, Jan 22, 2011.

Everyone should bring some Essence of Earths (EoE) with them.
  2. For the warriors badge, I prefer the little island in the NW corner of Striga.

It needs to be started from scratch, with realistic expectations on how bases will be used. For the last 5 years, the players have consistently shown the developers that they are NOT using bases in the way the developers have envisioned they would.

You'd think after all this time that they would understand that.

Every player needs a storage locker (account, not character driven), yet there is communal storage only. They wanted players to "build their own bases", yet that falls on one player generally.

    Start over from scratch.

Put in proper Z-positioning. Allow use of existing objects. Give every player their own lair while giving benefits for having a communal property.

In short, make groups and bases relevant again.

"Homeworld" is relative and is likely a good term for a database ID. Especially if you are doing what I think you are doing.

I'll have to check those out as this is the first time I've heard of either of those working.

Or have I wasted my time?
This paragonwiki page has all the ways to unlock the badge:
    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Entrus...e_Secret_Badge

Aside from asking for a portal, the next thing to do is wait till you are at least level 40 and go to recluse's victory any one of these explore badges will also earn the Entrusted with the Secret badge:
    Globetrotter Badge
    Last Stand Badge
    Ragnarok
    Temporal Fighter Badge

If you do ask someone for the portal, be sure to get the Chrononaut Badge.

If I may ask, which server are you on?

I think I might have an answer for that: Those that want to challenge themselves.

What I said in my first reply to this thread was entirely correct as stated.

I did not say, as you implied in your first response to me, that the Incarnate system went to level 40. That was your mistake, not mine. The wording in the first line was fairly clear that it was an example, not a statement on what level it went down to:

"Ok, let's reduce this a bit. Say you're level 40 fighting level 43s."

See the word you skipped over? It wasn't "You can exempt to 40 while being an Incarnate." or "You can be an Incarnate at level 40." or even "You're an Incarnate level 40 fighting level 43s." All of those would have been stating what you implied.

The post goes further and in the second half brings it back to what the original poster asked, but in a better context than the original poster put forth.

As to why the concept of a 50 was "harder to relate to", well, the original poster got it wrong. They were applying the level shift incorrectly in their post so I wanted to use an example that they did know about.

"does that mean if I'm fighting 53s now it would be like fighting 52s if I have the level shift?"

They were applying the level shift as a -1 to the critter's level instead of treating themselves as +1 while the critters were unchanged.

I don't think they've ever been available to players, so if we get them or not still remains to be seen. The level 40 was an example only.

In a similar fashion, if you got a level shift, you would be acting like a level 51 vs the level 53s. They would con 1 color level lower after the level shift. They would still be level 53s and you'd still be level 50 though.

Reading comprehension failure. I was trying to give the original poster something familiar so that they could understand the principles involved. By reducing all their numbers by an equal amount (basic math principle), the picture should be made clearer.

The original poster's numbers were 50-53. By reducing the numbers to 40-43 (which the original poster should be familiar with), they can "get" the idea because they've done levels 40-43.

Okay, I'm just going by what I can/can't get and add a few "possible" badges

I'm currently sitting at 1,192 badges with this total, I could get:
    • 1 day job
    • 1 day job accolade
    • 1 Bug Hunter (yeah right)
    • 3 Vet rewards (if I went back in time and started my subscription earlier)
    • 1 Passport if I was somehow transferred to the EU servers during the time the badge was live
    Badges I don't count:
    • 3 of 6 Respec badges (if the developers don't fix the fact that I can't earn them or they auto award if you have the opposite side's respec badges)
    • 9 of the X Times the Victor badges (I think that is cheating)
So if I subscribed from day 1, got the bug hunter, and transfered to the EU servers I would have a total of 1,199 badges.

As it stands, I will be getting my last day job (and day job accolade) in 2 weeks (or a bit later) and my next Vet Reward badge on Feb 12th. If I can somehow convince someone to grant me the Bug Hunter I'll be at my max of 1,196 (1,195 without Bug Hunter) until either my next vet reward or whatever badges come out with Issue 20.
  15. At this point, yes, heroes can have a higher count than villains. There was some talk about making the anniversary badges global to the account, but I think that might be on the low priority list and has the potential of messing up a large portion of the character database. It may take time, but if a player was around for the first anniversary, there is the possibility for getting these two badges on a villain.

As to getting the badge retroactively if you were not on during the first anniversary event, I don't think that will happen.

    Day Jobs Over.

What I would have liked to see: being logged off for up to 16 hours a day would count (not the whole 24 hours), and only up to 14 days.

14 days to get a day job would allow a new player to get 1 accolade during their initial 30 day play period.

By limiting the credit to 16 hours / day I wouldn't feel that there is a choice between playing and getting day job credit.

No, I meant exactly what I said:

Having day jobs around seems to give SOME players the idea that it is their duty to come into the badge section and tell the badge community that doesn't like X badge that they want the badge handed to them.

It is a common straw man argument that shows up on these forums far too often and is not even remotely accurate. Frankly I'm sick and tired of having it shoved in my face.
  18. In addition to all the above (inside Cap Au Diable building with science & tech stores, next to the arbiter in Sharkhead, St. Martials just away from the ferry), there is also the starting area in Mercy.

The starting area in Mercy has the following Day Jobs:
    • Arachnos Agent
    • Pilot
    • Pain Specialist
    • Monitor Duty
None of the badge locations overlap however.
  19. Looking at the history of that page, it was started a week after Issue 19 went live. I was in Beta but didn't really try for this badge. BlazingTiger made the "I19 Badge Guide", and that is likely where the information started at. However, that badge wasn't working in the early stages of the Beta. By the time the badges were complete set, BlazingTiger and the people that were regularly doing it had got the whole Apex Task Force to under 40 minutes.

It was, to my knowledge, never revealed by the developers as to what exactly were the mechanics of the badge were/are until the GM response via Beef Cake.

A lot of people set the TF timer, and try to go by that instead of a separate (and more accurate) timer. Heck, you've done the ski runs, you should know how accurate the displayed timer is. The display timer is different than the actual timer.

Yes, it took just over 5 minutes. We held the nukes/shivans/heavies for when she came back.

Fact is, you have your data sets, and we have ours. There is no point arguing that it works a specific way or not because there is apparently something broken about it. The only thing to figure out now is "what is it's specific intended mechanic?", and "what is causing it to not work that way for some people?".

For now, I have my opinion about it, and you have yours. I'm not trying trying to change anybody's opinion. I'm simply stating my experience in hopes that it eventually leads to the "problem" being resolved, either by the mechanic being specifically explained to us completely, and/or by it being fixed and explaining why we're having mixed results right now.
As of right now, I'm going to have to say the official line is what we should be measuring against. At that point I have to ask how some people are tracking the time.

I will also say that the time I got the Already Dead badge we took out Battle Maiden in 11 minutes from starting her to the time she was finally defeated.

As a suggestion, use a LOT of +Perception powers (Empowerment buffs, yellow insps, Clear Minds, Tactics, etc.) to actually see through the stealth.

It is more than a "tiny bit" though. If a character is "working" on their healing or damage taken badges, that "tiny bit" could be over a month without playing. Is having to spend 200+ hours trying to get a damage badge going to be conflicting with a day job badge? Definitely.

After 2-5 day jobs acquired, there sets in a "This is a stupid way to get a badge, how much longer?" attitude. At which point players that want to play their character has to make the choice of "get the day jobs out of the way as fast as possible" or "I might cancel my subscription before I collect all the day jobs". That was exactly what I was feeling. Yes, it bugged me that much.

I have a handful of characters I love to play. My badge collector is at the top of the list. I've been put into the situation for the last two years of choosing to either play my favourite character or potentially fail to get all the day job badges.

This is a choice I never should have been faced with. I totally blame the developers for this mechanic, and it is one of the things that has lessened my love of this game.
