What the hell is everyone obsessive need for us to walk?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've encountered this before. It's some kind of mental wiring that says "Walk = RP". When implemented, it usually looks like the character's feet are tied together by a short rope.

I am still not sure why hobbling back and forth like a penguin means "I'm RPing!".

    QR:

As long as they don't name it "the Furry pack!" as was recently touted in another thread, I am open to ideas.

That thread was Epic Lulz at their finest. For those of you who missed it, a synopsis:

OP: "Let's call the Natural Pack the Furry Pack! I win one Internet for sheer cleverness!"

respondant 1: "YAAAAAAAAY I love Furries! Best idea evar!"

respondant 2: "Uhhhh.... guys. I want a Natural pack right up there with the best of 'em, but The Furry Pack?! That is not gonna work. What if we had a water-themed pack that was called Water Sports, do you think that would work...? See what I mean...?"

respondant 3: "GET YOUR FITHY MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER, FURRY IS A NON-SEXUAL TERM YOU PERVERT! I HATE YOU AND THE GROUND YOU STAND ON TOO, YOU PREJUDICED EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING, FURRIES FOREVEERRRRRRR! RACIST!!!"

...And on it went, with much fodder for snickers therein. A little hyperbole in my synopsis, but not too much. And remember: FURRY IS NOT A TERM DENOTING DEVIANT BEHAVIOR. EVER. As I recall we had one person in there claiming that if you did artwork featuring animals, that this made you a "furry artist." I learn something new on these boards every day, man.....

    Tee-hee:

lovin' a good laugh with the best of them

Is there a link to this former thread? I have popcorn.

Incorrect. Malwarebytes does indeed have real time protection. However, to obtain this level of protection you need to purchase the software. As for its efficacy, it is very effective and has a small footprint.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Spybot Seek and Destroy has real time protection and is free.

    Lag

It looks like all servers are centralized in Chicago.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They're not. There are two NCSoft co-loc facilities for the CoX servers. They are in California and Virginia.

    building lab

    [ QUOTE ]
Thanks to everyone that posted here. I will try to plan something soon with the build class. Being out sick foe as long as I was I am still playing catch up at work and free time is something I do not have a lot of at the moment. I might be able do one class during the week. would a class on a week day be a problem?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Have you considered making video lessons? You could post them on Youtube and people could peruse them at leisure. And you could make them whenever you have time. You could add voiceovers to what you're doing on the screen to help explain certain techniques, etc.

    Instructional Videos would be awesome!

    New base

    [ QUOTE ]
Personally I like the Rez Ring for starting out. I can pop into the base pick up some inspirations then back I go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not really useful until you can afford the inspiration collector.
Until then, I think Invention Storage is the first thing you want (to collect rare and expensive salvage for use for the group) followed by an enhancement collector (to hold partial sets crafted but not yet slottable and enhancements to pass down to low level alts) THEN the insp/collector and rez ring combo.

This is a personal preference, of course and YMMV
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Bots/storm with teleport as my combat travel power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have teleport on my Bots/FF MM, and I have to say it's one of the few characters I have where Team Teleport is actually a useful option. I use it quite often on maps that typically get pets hung up or stuck or simply separated from the group.

Bodyguard Mode -> Team Teleport into MOBs -> Pick a Fight -> Watch Fireworks until everyone dies -> Rinse, Repeat.
  9. Mine change all the time according to mood. Right now, I'd say my top few are:

    Necro/Storm MM
    Axe/WP Brute
    SoA (Huntsman build)

This is subject to change at any moment.

    [ QUOTE ]

Fast forward to now: This game is great for me! Nobody cares what I am and what role I`m doing, they just get impressed when I do it well. When I leave, the team doesn't grind to a halt and disband, they smile, wave, and keep going without me. (No matter what I was on!) I don't have to rush to the end of the game to actually play and I can actually find groups for low level stuff. (Which is like, OMG!)

    [/ QUOTE ]

And THIS is why this game totally rocks.
It's completely true, too. It's one of the main things I love about the game.

The day that they implement gear grinding is the day I walk out and never look back. Fortunately it doesn't seem likely to ever happen here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree.

Not to say I dont have purples or dont market.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Completely. The IOs and the Black Market and figuring out which sets to persue are like a mini-game for me. They're something I do when I want to play but don't feel quite up to missioning or RPing *right now*. But I already had made it to 50 prior to I9 with nothing but SOs and did fine. So the IOs are, as you rightly point out, just one more dimension of OPTIONS that the game presents.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
The problem is that if more people are playing enough to get purple drops, they're also making more money. More money entering the economy for high priced items when you're still only playing 3 hours a week means you're still never going to be able to afford purples.

Nor should you be able to with that kind of play schedule. They're not for the casual players, they're for the hardcore.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Am I reading this right? Did you just make a point then refute yourself?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
That's fine, if you have someone else to give you the Costume and Aura missions. Maybe an Arbiter should do it instead?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Arbiters have enough to do without dealing with every whiny villain who can't be bothered to go through proper channels.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Lately I've been having some pretty strange problems with CoH. About a month ago, I started getting disconnected with increasing frequency, sometimes because of lag due to graphics (I'm not on the greatest system in the world), and sometimes for no reason at all. Now, I have a character who is stuck in Ouroboros because my system refuses to even load the zone. When I try to log in, the load screen finishes, but all I get is a sky-colored blank screen and extreme lag before the game reverts to the login screen.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Video card make/model and driver revision, please.

    AVG

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Try Avast!
It has a smaller footprint (uses less memory and CPU) and has a nifty screen saver virus scanner.
    It's also free.

And it sounds piratey. That alone makes it awesome.

Can someone tell me what other MMOs have as an "End-Game" that they consider it so dull here?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, you spend about 2 hours getting a team together, then you go on an insanely difficult and time consuming four to six hour "Raid" (like a task force, but with more opportunities for one moron to screw things up and get everyone killed) so that you can beat down some monstrously ridiculous boss that takes no fewer than 24 extremely coordinated players to defeat. In return for this, you might get a really cool hat. Then the next day you log in to do the same thing to try for the matching codpiece.
  17. NCSoft, I have a merchandising idea for you:

"I rushed to level 50, skipped all the game's content, then came to the forums to complain about there being no content and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt."
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Ok so when its gets down to it, they are both great 2ndaries for Brutes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I have both. I like both.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
In terms of Survivability, which would be better? Will or Inv?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having played both, I can say against psychic powered foes, Willpower's got it hands down. But environmental and smashing/lethal damage? Invuln is your baby.

Will is less end heavy than Invuln, so depending on primary, that may be a consideration.

Willpower is the jack of all trades, master of none set. It will not shine as much as any other set when compared to what those sets excel at, but it also has fewer notable holes in it's resists/defenses. You need to do less plugging with IO sets.

So, ultimately, the answer is: either is fine, depending on what you want.

    AE- I'm very sad

    [ QUOTE ]

    Pugs are usually horrible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My experience is different, much to my own surprise. MOST of the PuGs I've been on have actually been at least decent. Only a very few land in truly horrible territory, and they're even in the minority compared to the truly awesome groups I've gotten.

That said, I also know for a fact that I can log in at any time, at almost any level (Mercy is a bit of a bust) and either join a PuG or start one of my own inside of about 10-15 minutes TOPS. I think the people who complain about AE farm teams being all there are either are on the wrong server or just aren't really trying to find a team.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
St. Martial. It looks cool, and I generally like the missions there but...

It doesn't matter where you're standing. Your mission will be as far from you as possible. I have way too much travel time logged in that zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mine are usually in the door that I just came out of after completing my last mission. "Oh look! Someone moved back into the building. In the past 20 seconds."

I love St. Martial though. My least favorite zone is probably Nerva. Just Too Damn Big. Talk about Travel Time! Go to Crimson Cove. Go to Primeva. Go back to Crimson Cove. Go to Agin Court. Arrrgh!
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    Platypuses!
(No relevance, but honestly there's no more reason for human breasts than any other nonfunctional secondary sexual characteristic/display in the animal kingdom.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sexual displays have no function? What animal kingdom are YOU talking about? Plumage* is everything in the animal kingdom!

And on a related note, speaking of the Platypus: it's the only mammal that does not have teats, but rather excretes milk through the pores in the female's skin!

*Plumage in this case being any physical sex characteristic that delineates the genders.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
The sexualization of breasts is not a universally human trait.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but that has very little to do with the theory in question. Or rather, it shows you have misunderstood it. The theory is about unconscious primate ques (humans are primates), not "OMG Look at those bazongas!".
  24. [ QUOTE ]

    could be hoax..

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No, it can't be.
    At all.

Saying the moon landing could possibly be a hoax is like saying the existence of Belgium might be a hoax.

Belgium might be a JOKE surely, but definitely not a hoax.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
