Quote:He was Dark/SS.At the level of BB, I don't think any tank besides one with /SS could drop someone quickly.
I was EM/Elect.
I was somewhere around 20, pre-stamina. He was level 50.
Quote:Really though I don't think it's fair to say just heroes won't fight because it's equally true for villains. Since the majority of the population plays blueside I think that's why you see more heroes running away.
Now, sure I'm sure it happens on both sides, but I don't think it's just a population thing, as I also see alot more trash talk and whining coming from Bluesiders than Red. But that's not really the argument here.
In any case, I have no tolerance for it from anyone. If you get into a PvP fight, finish it. Red or Blue, be a good sport and finish it.
It's some kind of weird mindset of "I cannot lose a fight or I might DIE IN REAL LIFE!!!" It's some kind of false honor where denying your opponent a victory means you "win" when it's just plain jerk behavior.
This game has PvP with no penalty. There's no reason not to give your opponent their deserved victory. It does you no harm at all. You lost in a match, it happens. You be a good sport and you shake hands (figuratively) and go about your day. I don't get the attitude of not being able to handle losing even once. These are the kinds of people I picture tipping over the chessboard as soon as they lose their queen. Sore losers, the lot of them. -
Quote:I came out of a mission in Bloody Bay once and ended up right in front of a hero, same situation as the OP. High level tanker. I'm a level 20ish brute. He sees me, comes in and starts a fight. I'm like "ok well, lets see how long I can hold out". When I don't instantly drop to the ground and get a lick or two in, he flees! I chase him back to the LB base, and he stays there for a good 5 minutes then leaves the zone. It's not about running from a fight or being afraid of a villain (no matter the level). Some people just don't like to PvP and actively avoid it. And if the person from the other side follows you around and tries to harass you ... like you did with that tank ... they just leave and do something they have fun with.
WTF.
Seems to me like Heroes won't fight unless they have a guaranteed win (and apparently not even then).
I really hate runners in PvP. It's disrespectful to your opponent to start a fight you have no intention of finishing if things don't go instantly your way. If you start a fight, have the backbone enough to finish it.
There was one time I was in Bloody Bay on Smurch (fire/fire dom) when he was still a lowbie, around level 15 or something. I was stealthed (Smurch has stealth) and saw a hero defender doing shivans, dont remember his level but he had at least 10 on me. I snuck up, but one of the guns saw me and shot me, breaking my stealth. I figured the jig was up, and let loose on the defender.
What proceeded was possibly one of the best battles I've had in this game. We fought all over that neighborhood bloody bay for about 10 minutes, with alot of back and forth. In the end, my lack of Endurance floored me, and I landed on the ground with an audible (local chat) "oof!" as he killed me. He said something like "owned" and I said "Poor abused Smurch!" and went back to the hospital.
After I teleported back to the base, I got a tell from the hero-player that he had a great time with that fight. I reciprocated, we congratulated each other on the licks we got in and then I left him to do his shivans feeling pretty good about myself despite the loss.
It's the one time PvP in this game ever lived up to it's promise. -

Yup same here. I rely far more on the buffs bar for myself and the team than I do on any graphics.

Quote:Ohh I **NEED** one of those. That would be a blast! And I'd also love an upgrade from the throw snowball power - i.e. - addition of a temp power - a long range, semi automatic, snowball grenade launcher. So I can pelt my friends with snowballs from 500 feet away. *badda badda badda badda!* Hehehe.

Good, Bad, I'm the one with the gun.
First you wanna kill me, now you wanna kiss me. Blow.
Give me some sugar baby.
"Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up. THIS is my BOOMSTICK!"
and
Evil Sheila: "You found me beautiful once"
Ash: "Baby, you got reeeal ugly"
and
"Hail to the king, baby"
In fact, the whole movie. -
Quote:I don't know. Do you?On a serious note, they could partner with a computer manufacturer to install a City icon on each new computer giving a free 14 day trial. That way everyone with a new computer will have the opportunity to experience City, and, how much would that cost the company as opposed to the rewards.

Quote:Actually I don't think it's AION. I think it's Dragon Age: Origins. The RP Heavy server would be the most likely to suffer from such a character-driven RPG's release. I know when I look at my Steam friends list, almost everyone is In Game: Dragon Age OriginsI have noticed a serious drop in player numbers on virtue since the release of AION.
Don't worry, once the shiny wears off of DA:O, we'll all be back in CoX! -
/TA is alot of fun with Mercs. It takes some thought in big battles, but you can lay down the debuffs so heavily that none of your foes will do anything bad to you anyways. I've always been impressed with this combo's performance. You can kick the fight out of just about anything.
I was on one horrible pug where the whole team wiped three times, except my Merc/TA MM who stood his ground and held his own until the team got back from the hospital. -
1.) boredom
2.) positioning on chairs/stools to be able to sit properly.
Otherwise I'm too impatient. -
Quote:My wife (the arteest in the house) has an attribution/permission requirement, but that's about it. I think she uses creative commons license, but I'm not sure.Another thread was recently high-jacked regarding this discussion, so maybe it's best to put down some thoughts here.
What are you thoughts about referencing photos, screen shots, and other pieces of art?
What are the lines you draw? (ethically, not physically. lol) -
Quote:My Axe/WP can 0/8 Rikti without breaking a sweat. You do have to watch for psi damage from the mentalists at higher difficulty settings, as your psi resistance isn't the greatest, but 0/8 should be a cakewalk.
My Energy Melee /Electric Armor can 0/8, but breaks a little bit of a sweat (mostly because it takes a bit longer to kill... not as much AoE). -
Quote:The PVP zones are usually pretty dead, but I know there's alot who do Arena PVP.Hi Virtue! My main toon is on this server and likely always will be. Actually almost all my toons are as I've only made toons on other servers to play with girlfriend who I convinced to move her main here (WIN!). I'm not a hardcore RPer but I really like how much people get into it.
Anyway, my question is regarding PvP... most say to make a toon on Freedom for PvP but I very much enjoy sticking to one server when it comes to MMOs so I'm curious as to why that is. Do people not PvP at all on Virtue or is it just that it's more of a focal point on Freedom like how RP is here? -
Quote:Yep, these are better than ALOT of costumes I've seen in-game being played (judging by the bio) by adults.I have to say this. It pains me to say this.
I've seen people make "OMGAWESOME" costumes that are infinitely worse than those. Tell your boy he's on the right track.
Many adults can learn from this six year old. -

Quote:Hahahahahahahahahah! Hoooohohohohohohoho!People seem to believe that Villains will all be jumping on to blue side because its better then red.
Oh man that's rich!
Yeah, because running across two huge zones three times in a row just to get ONE actual combat mission is SO MUCH BETTER.
Quote:Personally, I love red side more, but I will be changing factions from red to blue JUST because more people play blue.
Quote:What are your personal reasons to change? Is it because of player base/ markets/ better TF/SFs or something else? Cheers to all who give their reasons. -
Quote:Actually, that's a very important difference, because the game is installed on that OS instance.A friend of mine put CoH on a thumbdrive, and regularly updated it, so all her preferences were there (actually, she had the entire OS on her drive, and just ran whatever computer she was on from the drive, but that's a different issue).
Quote:I don't know how ipods connect to the computer, but if they're effectively glorified thumbdrives, it should work - as long as you have the space. -

[frankenstein] Fire good! Invuln Bad![/frankenstein]
Actually I have no opinion. I just wanted to say that. -
1.) Batman
2.) Bees
3.) If I'm still Batman, then Prison. I'd rule that place in no time. Cuz I'm Batman. If I'm just me, I gotta say coma... unless it's minimum security then maybe Prison... nah who am I kidding, I'll still say coma. The boredom of minimum security would drive me insane. Then again, maybe I can organize some other prisoners and get a good game of D&D going...
4.) Taller. The advantages of being taller outweigh the disadvantages. Although I'd be over 9' at that point, but even so, I don't think being under 4' would be amenable to me. -
Zero. Each character I make is unique.

Quote:But doesn't require you burn a power choice on a completely useless power in order to take, like Tough does....did you just compare power surge to tough?
Powersurge is not available 100% of the time, and therefore is not the end-all power that allows one to become an alpha-brute. At best, it is a situational power.
I've got alot of brutes, and I find tough to be probably the single highest over rated unnecessary power in the game (at least for PVE).
While situational, with some +recharge, you can Power Surge available fairly often. Certainly not 100% of the time, but you don't need it 100% of the time, either, so that's a moot point. As long as it's there when needed, it's decidedly useful
