But that 7% stacks with Ice's 14% from Chilling Embrace, and can also stack with the 21% from Darkest Night in Soul Mastery...

Now consider than Inf for defeated enemies is small potatos. The real money is in rare and purple drops.

Even if the +1 enemies don't reward as much inf, they still drop purples. Drop rates don't increase as the enemy level increases, AFAIK. So, even though the Brute can't do +3 8X, he'll be carving up those +1's faster and completing missions faster than the Tanker who's operating at +3 8X.

Brute still wins with better rewards vs time invested.
Tanker earns slow fights and empty bragging rights for slowly chipping down +3's.

    .
So... a brute hits harder, and a tanker survives longer.

I think this is as it should be.

I'm trying to figure out what argument you're trying to make here, Johnny.

Heck, hit me with it five times. I think that would be a great addition.
  5. ...but, if you stun them and they wander away, you have a handy ranged damage power to tag them with and keep them taunted.
  6. You know that big button up top that says search?

    Might try that.
  7. My main character, Comrade Smersh, is an ex-spy Soviet version of Iron Man.

My favorite scrapper, Dr. Paladin, is kind of a Moorcock pastiche in CoH.

As for Cosmonaut Ninja Ivan, well... Gatchaman meets Yamato.

Cosmonaut Alpha is loosely based on the back of a movie box I once read about a movie I never saw.

The rest are inspired in one way or another, but the key is to put your own twist on it.

(I still flick back at 9:30 for Yo Gabba Gabba though for the 8 bit graphics and mid-90s flashbacks it induces)
See, and I can't stand Yo Gabba Gabba for my daughter. Fortunately, she prefers the Backyardigans.

That's pretty much their business plan.
  10. Don't forget to grab Darkest Night from Soul Mastery for even more -damage goodness.

    This is completely untrue.

Regeneration benefits from +max hp; heals are based on your base hitpoints.

Otherwise, my +max hp to the exclusion of all other bonuses Kat/Fire scrapper would be even more awesome.
  12. No, it's a grenade on a stick, which is awesome.
  13. You might have much, much better luck trying to farm with Spines or Electric Melee. Or Fire Melee.

  15. Six slots is 2.5% defense to all three positions - melee, ranged and AoE.
  16. Take Physical Perfection, slot for end reduction, spend 20 million on a Performance Shifter. Pick up Conserve Power.

Or go for Ice, which has Energy Absorption to cover your endurance woes. Electric Armor basically has limitless endurance.

Endurance problems can be slotted away, if you're willing. And it does not have to be expensive. My level 38 fire armor scrapper recovers (gross) nearly three endurance per second, and I have not made any influence transfers to her - she's running solely on what she's earned.

Gift of the Ancients, Thunderstrike, Cleaving Blow, Eradication, there are plenty of sets that are inexpensive and give bonuses to recovery.
  17. For a tank, the total investment for the soft cap, if you take Weave and Combat Jumping, is seven IOs - one Steadfast and six Gaussians.

    Everything else is gravy.
  18. For stacking -dam, ice/kin/soul or shield/kin/soul.

KM goes well with just about any primary, though. Granite users might find the availability of a ranged attack and a ranged cone handy.

If it's like a proc, +45% unenhanceable damage would be pretty meh. I'm not so often at the damage cap to make it worth it. I hoped it'd be +45% base fire damage, enhanceable by +damage ; admittedly that might be borderline OPed.

Edit : I guess it wouldn't be so meh if it lasts 20 or 30s. Does it ?
It's enhanceable and affected by damage buffs.

Edit: That means that, if you have a 100 damage attack enhanced up to 195 damage, Fiery Embrace will add 87.75 damage instead of 45. It's 45% of the enhanced damage.

And, yes, it does last 20 seconds.
  20. ...that Inv/Fire is an ugly, ugly build.

At least drop out aid other and aid self for Incinerate and Greater Fire Sword!

A soft-capped invuln tank shouldn't need aid self.
  21. Another Fan, all I see are numbers with no explanation.

That hardly makes any point at all. As far as I can tell, you made up all those numbers.

Care to cite your source and, you know, explain what those numbers are supposed to represent?

And while you are right that Defense does a lot better when it has Defense Debuff Resistance to back it up, everything Johnny said in his post is correct. I've seen it with my own eyes too.

You are correct that Defense works better when it is backed up by DDR, but Johnny is also correct. Characters with mid-range or low Defense get their Defense quickly striped away from them by Debuffers. Characters who are soft-capped don't get hit with those debuff attacks nearly as often. And when they do it happens infrequently enough that they are usually able to do something about it.

Which is, after all, the point behind being at the soft-cap in the first place.
    They can always hit you.

A group of ten minions would, on average, hit once every two volleys. If they're using machine guns with a 7.5% defense debuff, you are going to cascade quickly.

Or, try asking someone like Dechs how long his softcapped defense lasts on the ITF.

The softcap is great, make no mistake, but it is nowhere near as powerful as JB is making it out to be.

For the record, I have a level 50 AR/EM blaster who is softcapped to ranged attacks.
  23. Heraclea's build is decent, but if you're already 50, I'd swap a few things around.

Take Tough at 50 - It doesn't need quite so many slots.

Move up the epic so you can take Fireball at 47, and move two slots from fire blast to fire ball. Five slots of Positron's Blast will give you the same recharge time bonus as that Entropic Chaos, and more AoE damage. And that was what you were looking for, wasn't it?
