Ordered the first four books yesterday. Already have them, but my sister stole most of them so I figured it'd be good to have a fresh full set.
Now I'm waiting for Dancer with Dragons to release. *le sigh* Only a few more months to go! -
I read the books years and years ago. It was always an awesome series. Awesome and gut-wrenching horrible.
The recent tv show inspired me to read them again, and I have to say... I found them much better on second reading. Maybe it's because I'm older. Maybe it's because I know the horrible things that are about to happen, making it easier to focus on the overall plot and not go "...omg" all the time. Maybe I'm just more accustomed to dark gritty fantasy these days (it was pretty uncharted land back in '96. At least in my neck of the woods).
But man it's good. -
Or possible because a marvel take on norse mythology is bound to be pretty weird if your only other exposure to norse mythology has been, well, norse mythology.
-
Local reviews peg it as "incredible silly, but not as bad as we'd feared".
I suspect that will be my impression as well, when I see it tomorrow. -

Looks nice. I just have to wonder why mjolnir has to be that ugly.

I play male characters almost exclusively. Entirely exclusively until recently
Just havn't been able to connect with a look and a backstory. Until recently. Now I have two female characters that are pretty cool!
That said, most of the female gamers I know play almost exclusively male characters because they don't like the way they get treated on female characters. -
Quote:Havn't heard of one. I'm not sure if I'd want one.Hmm.. I didn't realize so many Scandinavians played CoH/V.. Maybe we're not quite enough for our own sub forum.. But maybe a global channel? Någon som vet om det redan finns någon?

Anyway, +1 european player who's been on the NA servers forever. -
Quote:Here he is: Vengeful AngelHeeeey! That last one is very similar to the costume on my latest scrapper. Looks awesome.

A long time ago, brawl was removed from the mercenaries due to some kind of AI bug. This more or less fixed mercenary behaviour.
Sometime later, the original AI bug was supposedly fixed, and brawl was added back in. Thus breaking mercenary behaviour once more. While they wouldn't pick brawl over a better attack anymore (right?), they would still happily run into melee range when brawl was their only available attack.
It is my very personal opinion that mercenaries should just stand still and shoot the heck out of whatever you point them at. They did that in the brief brawl-free respite we had. I havn't seriously played my merc MM since shortly after brawl was reintroduced. -

Quote:Exactly right. Temperature alone doesn't really mean anything. When I was in Alice Springs we had around 45C, and it didn't feel too bad. At home, I die when the temp crawls close to 30C.The heat isn't so much the issue as the humidity. It's not been above 27c this weekend where I am, but it's been about 98% humidity, and for someone of my... stature... That's pretty unpleasant.
45c would likely kill me..
I have a friend from Egypt. His family refuses to come visit him here during the summer - and they are used to temperatures more than twice what we usually get here.
So really, lots of factors. -
Quote:You can turn on a handy little feature in your combat monitor, called 'last hit chance' which will show you just that. The hit chance of your latest attack. That should give you a pretty good idea how you're doing on Char. If you're consistently at the 95% mark against most foes in your typical scenario, then the one should be fine. If not, add a second.1. Char: I've played with 2 damage enhancements in Char for several levels and haven't seconded guess the decision, until now. Would I benifit that much more by replacing them with 2 accuracy instead (for a total of 3 accuracy). I haven't noticed much of a problem with accuracy but then again I've only had 1 in place this whole time.
Three should be gross overkill against anything but rikti drones.
To me, Char is the most important tool in our fiery toolbox and I'd never devote less than six slots for it. Typically either acc/acc/hold/hold/hold/rech or acc/acc/hold/hold/rech/rech depending on taste (the latter being a little more optimized for high level IOs).
Of course that's a matter of personal opinion, and it'll change a lot if we start looking into IO sets instead (which, personally, I can't be bothered with).

Quote:1) As mentioned, it's broken and they're working on a fix.1) Can someone toss me a link to the dev tracker if there is one on the new forums? I didn't see it anywhere. Seems like a good thing to put at the top of the page...
2) I seem to remember being able to bind teleport to a letter key, so when I hit the key I got the TP location selector widget and could click once to TP there. Could someone walk me through doing this?
3) I played with the AE stuff for a while and liked it a lot. Did the one where you save the devs and died hard vs the build your own moon base one. Good stuff. Then a guy came up and asked for my help getting prestige... I consented and have now learned about FARMING... I have gone up enough levels that the grind of old is laughable now. Could someone give me a heads up or a link to a post AUTHORED BY A DEV / CSR stating what is 'officially' considered exploiting and what isn't? I don't want to get banned, but I do want to play with WS/PB and the arachnos archetypes.
4) I don't feel like messing with sets as I level. I'm just going to hope the charity with influence I've seen so far continues, and I'll try to keep myself up to date with SO's. Once I'm 50, what are some good sets to look for, for a fire/electric blaster? I want to maximize front-loaded damage first. Not give up any for recharge or specials and what not. I made this guy to make things dead, and that's what I plan to do.
5) Root beer.
2) I use /bind lshift+lbutton "powexec_name Teleport" which teleports you to wherever you click, while holding down left shift.
3) Unlike certain other games, you don't get banned here for just playing. If the xp ratio of the AE is out of whack, they'll fix it. Not punish everyone who've used it. I should add, though, that unless you have fund rapid-ding'ing, or have anything in particular in mind for once you hit 50, what's the rush?
4) You'll probably be best off ignoring the set IOs 'till your late 30s/early 40s. Or wait for 50. You should look into the common IOs though... from around level 20 they're equivalent to SOs, and they don't need to be replaced all the time.
5) Cheers -
Huh. I can't think of a single game I've played that doesn't fall under that classification.
Good thing I'm not in germany. -

Welcome to playing a Stalker. My first stalker didn't get his travel power 'till 38. Yeah, your build will be super tight, and for the longest time, your travel power (and, heck, even stamina) will ride pretty low on the totem pole. If you squeeze in stamina in your 20s and travel in your 30s you're right on par.
