  1. Hello:

I'm a Dark Melee Scrapper and at level 24 right now. I got my first power pool at level 4 (Concealment), and I've read that you eventually get more. I know you get one in the early 30s (32?). What about the other two?

For some reason, I couldn't find this info on the wiki.

    Thanks!
  2. It makes sense that it would have something to do with the graphics card. I've got tunnel vision, so I can't see much of the screen at once, so I've taken to playing the game in windowed mode. Smaller portion of the screen==easier to keep track of things.

I haven't had the Paragon Market crash once on me since starting to use Windowed Mode.

I don't know exactly what this implies, whether the windowed/full screen mode has some implications for which fonts or used or whether it's just easier on the graphics card in my Macbook Air.

Will update if the situation changes.
  3. I decided to go ahead and run the Moonfire TF with the LFG teleporter, but I'm going to try to get the full OF set for my Shadow Maul. I've been focusing on my Willpower set lately so I could improve my defenses, but that means I only really have 4 attacks, and Brawl and Apprentice Charm hardly count.

On a related note, how valuable is it to be able to put other characters into Fear? "Touch of Fear" will be one of my choices when I'm able to get a new power again.

Really, the way to unload anything is through Wentworths. Unfortunately, AT THE MOMENT, the Overwhelming Force enhancements can not be put in the auction house. This has been acknowledged as a bug, but we don't know when it will be fixed.

Frankly, I don't think people are going to be trading a lot of those right now anyway. I think they are going to collect them for personal use and/or to sell once they CAN be put in the auction house.

A big source of information for this game is ParagonWiki.com which was created and is maintained by players. There is a page with info about the auction house.

In my opinion, the one key thing to remember about the auction house is that you pay a 5% fee of whatever amount you list something for. If you list an item for 10 million inf, it costs you 500,000 inf to do so. If it doesn't sell, and you need to take it down and re-list it at a lower price, you eat that 5%. It is NOT refunded. This is to discourage people from listing at a high price and 'creeping' downward to wring every possible inf out of the sale.

On the other hand, when you are BIDDING, you definitely want to creep your price upward (unless you're wealthy and don't want to take the time). When you bid on something, there is no fee. If you retract your bid, it is refunded in its entirety. So always start with a lowball bid - you might get lucky.
Thanks for the detailed post and the link. I'll certainly check it out. I've been impressed by how nice the Paragon Wiki is. It always seems the smaller/more niche fandoms have the better/more extensive wikis--the Dariawiki is similarly gigantic and terrifyingly detailed.

I would imagine NCSoft won't fix the OF/Wentworth's bug until the Summer Blockbuster is over. If they did, the event would lose a lot of its replay appeal--a few players could farm the event for the OF enhancements and flood Wentworth's for epic loots.

Do seasonal event items ever end up in the Paragon Market?

As it is, I'm planning to run the event once a day until I've got at least one full set. Since you can't buy OF enhancements at Wentworth's yet, I don't think selling the Defender's Bastion enhancement I've got would be a good idea right now. I might still be able to trade it somehow for an OF enhancement.

Hmm. This is my first MMO; in-game economies are surprisingly fascinating.
  5. Hello,

I apologize in advance if this question violates decorum for this forum. I didn't know where else to ask.

I just purchased a few copies of Super Pack 1 ("Heroes and Villains") and ended up with one of the Defender's Bastion Archetype Enhancements. I'm a Scrapper, so I can't really do anything with it, and don't see myself creating a Defender anytime soon.

I would like to trade it for something I can use--I'm currently trying to collect all the Overwhelming Force enhancements--but I don't really have any experience with Wentworth's or any other method of trading.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
  6. This seemed like a fairly esoteric thing to ask for a team for, so I thought I might have better luck asking here than setting a search flag.

I'd really like to finish Long Jack's arc in Striga, and to do that I need to defeat Maestro. The way I have my game set, he spawns as a full supervillian, not an Elite Boss. I realize I could easily go ... somewhere and find a Hero Corps Analyst to make him spawn EB, but before I did that I thought I might ask if anyone would be interested in teaming up just for that mission, sometime this weekend.

I apologize if it's rude to ask this sort of question, but I saw someone else asking about getting together a team for a classic sewer trial and thought I'd try my luck.

... I still need to go kill Warwolves and Vampires, too. I wonder if I'll ever get out of Striga.

Aye. I just ran it for the first time. I ... didn't quite know what I was doing at first, and bungled the Hacker role a bit (I was seen). Fortunately, everyone was really nice about it and understood that it was my first time through. We all still got the other 3 perfect badges.

We had at least one team-member who was really good at keeping everyone buffed/debuffed appropriately, so I actually thought the arena was the easier part.

Got the Knockdown OF Enhancement. I also got a full 10 other SO enhancements, which I didn't realize would happen. That was pretty awesome.

As a note the Task Force AVs will always be AVs no matter what settings or team size you have.
    Makes sense.

Also, I have XP turned off right now to avoid leveling and I'm still getting badge credit for killing werwolves (why must they all spawn so high level?!). I've actually yet to see any vampires.

I think I'll try the radio missions. Thanks for the suggestions.
  9. Thanks for the replies, everyone. This really clears up all the stuff I was confused about.

A few of other questions that came to mind while reading this thread.
    • What's the average wait time people are seeing in the LFG tab when they ask to join the event? I've read that for some events you can be waiting quite a long time.
    • This is the first time I've been around for an event like this, so I'm not sure how the special enhancement sets work. Once the event is over, are they ever available in the store?
    • How do people trade enhancements between themselves, usually? How many people use Wentworth's to try to get the OF enhancments they're missing?

I ask because I'm not sure how many times I'll be able to run the event, and would like to get at least one full set.
  10. Greetings!

I hope everyone is having a fine weekend. I'm interested in trying to get the Overwhelming Force Set through the Summer Blockbuster Event, and have some questions. Unfortunately, the PW page on this is still somewhat undeveloped.

    Some questions:
    1. Obviously, you need a team for the casino heist. Do you need one for the gladiator portion?
    2. Do you have to run them in a specific order? Both consecutively? Or can you run one (e.g.: the heist) at one time and come back later and run the other (e.g.: the gladiator part)?
    3. How do the rewards work? Do you have to run one event to get an Overwhelming Force enhancement? Both? To get them all do you have to run the whole event over and over/trade with others?
    4. About how long does it take to finish the Summer Event once you start?

    Thank you for your help.

But, no, I'd not recommend it. It's a fairly fast and fun enough TF that I don't find it's too tough to recruit at least the minimum number, and running it with others will be a lot more time efficient.
    Thanks.

AV? You mean Archvillian? I was messing around with Hero Corps notoriety settings and told it I preferred to fight Archvillians and not have them drop down to Elite Bosses. Is that going to be a problem? Should I go back and set it to the default?

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Moonfire sounds like the best best to do this quickly. I'm guessing soloing her TF isn't recommended.
  13. Hello, there:

I'm trying to get this accolade for the endurance boost, and wondered what the best/fastest way was to kill 200 each of Warwolves and Vampires. I'm level 22 right now, and I've yet to find any of these creatures either (1) in large number; or (2) not yellow, red, or purple.

About how long would you expect killing 200 of each of these mobs to take?

I would appreciate any suggestions. I've done all the exploration and history badges for this accolade. I've turned off gaining experience for now but I'm seriously considering turning it back on until I'm at least level 25. That should keep me from out-leveling anything in Talos, Striga, or Independence.

    Thanks. That makes sense. Unfortunately.

I assume there's no way to get them out of the inactive contact list once you run the Flashback?

    That's awesome. Thanks!

Is there no way to finish out the out-leveled arcs without using the Flashback System?

What about exemplaring down to a lower level?
  16. This is going to sound weird, I think, but this has been bothering me for a while, since I started playing again last week.

I feel like I'm leveling too fast. Just tonight, I was in the middle of Cho Ge mission and leveled up to level 22. I was bout halfway though the progress bar on his contact status window thing. Now I'm too high leveled to talk to him about missions, and he's gone to inactive. This is NOT the first time this has happened to me in the middle of an arc, and it is rather annoying. It happened with the Hollows, too.

If I go back and do this arc in Flashback, I'll have to start from scratch.

I realize you can complete such missions in the Flashback system, but that is less than satisfying. For one, you still gain XP in the Flashback system, so use it enough and you're going to out level MORE contacts. Two, it doesn't update the contact progress bar, so it looks like you never finished the contact's story arc.

I've completely missed 4 or 5 contacts at this point because I out leveled them due to dying a lot and having to re-run certain missions over and over. This really annoys me since I was really interested in running them, and even if I run them in Flashback, they'll be listed as Inactive, Incomplete contacts forever.

Does this bother anyone else? Does anyone have any ideas on how I can not level so fast?

    Thanks.
  17. Earlier this week (yesterday?), I got prompted to update CoH when I opened the launcher. What was that update? I'm thinking it was the Summer Event.

As far as the portals go, Dark Melee is one of the best options for taking them out at low levels, IMO. The portal's summon should only bring out three (maybe four?) demons, and the power that summons them has a fairly long recharge. By level 14, you should have Smite and Siphon Life, plus at least one of Shadow Punch and Shadow Maul. With those powers, you should be able to put out enough of a steady stream of damage to take down a portal. With the right secondary, you can even ignore the demons, break the portal before its second summon, and then clean up the first summon.

And if all else fails, there's an inspiration vendor near the hospital. There's few problems in this game that can't be overcome with a judicious amount of candy.
Thank you for your replies. I'm really hoping those spawn-points aren't used; they're behind a giant stone door thing that you have to unseal.

Thanks for the extra info about the portal mechanics; I didn't find any of that on ParagonWiki. My problem is that there's two or three portals together in some of these rooms, so I can quickly get swamped by upwards of 5-10 demons, which kill me in a matter of moments with their long range fire attacks. I agree that 1-3 demons is easy enough to handle, though still a challenge as I have inspirations disabled for this Flashback Mission.

My powers are also taking forever to recharge (I have Shadow Maul and Siphon Life, among others), but I think that's more due to the fact I'm exemplared down to Security Level 14 and most of my endurance related enhancements are now showing red--I've also leveled up twice in the Flashback, which means I've probably passed the point where those enhancements would help. At any rate, this does not make fighting hordes of fire demons any easier.

I never planned to get that much XP during the Heart of the Hollows, effectively disabling half my Enhancements without a chance to replace them. It's a much longer, tougher story arc than I was expecting. I can't help liking it, though, and I certainly wasn't going to leave it half finished when I accidentally out-leveled it the first time. I could always quit the Flashback, but at this point it's become a matter of ego.
  19. Hi,

After defeating Atta, the next mission has you clearing out (destroying all enemies) a large cave belonging to the Circle of Thorns. In this cave there is a large stone door. When you open it you are treated to a horrible set of rooms containing at least 4 or 5 Boss Portals. Maybe more.

Do you have to destroy these to win, or can you just never open that stone door and just defeat the boss and his minions in the main room?

I'm alone since it's a Flashback mission, and I see no way for a level 14 Dark Melee Scrapper to destroy one of those portals while dodging the horrible fire creatures it spits out, let alone several of them.
  20. Is there any published information about Elements of Harmony? What they do, what the requirements are, etc.?

So far I've not been able to find anything...
  21. I'm having this problem, too. Sometimes I can make the market work fine, and others it completely locks the game, forcing a hard reboot. Here's some symptoms:

    1) The background music starts skipping every second or two, resulting in a kind of clicking noise.
    2) I can still see the game interface behind the shop window. Animations are still running and the endurance bar is still moving up and down, so the game isn't completely frozen, just the shop window.
    3) I can't click on any buttons in the shop window or move the window or close it.
    4) I may or may not be able to type text into the search box, but submitting the search query has no effect; the screen doesn't change at all.

I'm not sure, but I think trying to run a search can trigger the freeze ... sometimes. I've run successful searches in the past without a problem.

Does this by chance happen when you're in the Paragon Market? That's when I run into the problem. And it seems more likely when I try to use the search function in the Market. I can still run searches but can't click on any buttons or close/move the Shop window.

I've gotten to the point where I try to avoid browsing the shop, which is ... annoying. There's some stuff in there I want. :P
