How best to trade an Archetype Enhancement?

Hello,

I apologize in advance if this question violates decorum for this forum. I didn't know where else to ask.

I just purchased a few copies of Super Pack 1 ("Heroes and Villains") and ended up with one of the Defender's Bastion Archetype Enhancements. I'm a Scrapper, so I can't really do anything with it, and don't see myself creating a Defender anytime soon.

I would like to trade it for something I can use--I'm currently trying to collect all the Overwhelming Force enhancements--but I don't really have any experience with Wentworth's or any other method of trading.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Firstly, this is a good place for that question. Here or 'Player Questions' would both have been fine.

You can post in here to trade items (but that doesn't get done much).
Also, there are global channels where people trade things.... occasionally.
Really, the way to unload anything is through Wentworths. Unfortunately, AT THE MOMENT, the Overwhelming Force enhancements can not be put in the auction house. This has been acknowledged as a bug, but we don't know when it will be fixed.

Frankly, I don't think people are going to be trading a lot of those right now anyway. I think they are going to collect them for personal use and/or to sell once they CAN be put in the auction house.

A big source of information for this game is ParagonWiki.com which was created and is maintained by players. There is a page with info about the auction house.

In my opinion, the one key thing to remember about the auction house is that you pay a 5% fee of whatever amount you list something for. If you list an item for 10 million inf, it costs you 500,000 inf to do so. If it doesn't sell, and you need to take it down and re-list it at a lower price, you eat that 5%. It is NOT refunded. This is to discourage people from listing at a high price and 'creeping' downward to wring every possible inf out of the sale.

On the other hand, when you are BIDDING, you definitely want to creep your price upward (unless you're wealthy and don't want to take the time). When you bid on something, there is no fee. If you retract your bid, it is refunded in its entirety. So always start with a lowball bid - you might get lucky.

Thanks for the detailed post and the link. I'll certainly check it out. I've been impressed by how nice the Paragon Wiki is. It always seems the smaller/more niche fandoms have the better/more extensive wikis--the Dariawiki is similarly gigantic and terrifyingly detailed.

I would imagine NCSoft won't fix the OF/Wentworth's bug until the Summer Blockbuster is over. If they did, the event would lose a lot of its replay appeal--a few players could farm the event for the OF enhancements and flood Wentworth's for epic loots.

Do seasonal event items ever end up in the Paragon Market?

As it is, I'm planning to run the event once a day until I've got at least one full set. Since you can't buy OF enhancements at Wentworth's yet, I don't think selling the Defender's Bastion enhancement I've got would be a good idea right now. I might still be able to trade it somehow for an OF enhancement.

Hmm. This is my first MMO; in-game economies are surprisingly fascinating.

Depending on how much the OF set pieces end up going for, I doubt this will occur. Right now, many of the Defender ATO pieces are some of the cheapest on the Auction House, so there doesn't seem to be as much demand for pieces of that set as there are for Brute, Scrapper and a few other AT's sets. (Although I just checked, and recently a couple of the pieces have spiked up, so maybe not; time will tell.)

You might consider trying your luck with Enhancement Converters, which you can either purchase from a Merit Vendor (as well as a few other esoteric vendors), or receive as random drops (you may even have some already in your inventory -- check the "Special" tab of your Salvage inventory). Review the wiki link for more information, and best of luck!

I think the speed of the fix depends on how easy it is. I don't think the farming/flooding the market is in any way a concern.

Many can't be placed in the market, like costume and temp power unlocks granted to the specific character. However, the four Halloween Salvage items are in the market, as are Candy Canes.

Were you on Infinity at all?
Someone in Help channel there was looking to trade their unusables and I got them a Scrapper chance for +Crit and some inf.

Hope you got to trade your stuff.

This is what I'd do (prices subject to change and all...).

The Brute & Scrapper IOs are generally the most expensive, with Kheld/VEAT IOs being the cheapest. Defender ATIOs aren't that expensive, so you may want to consider using an Enhancement Converter on it.

If you have any reward merits (likely if you've opened Super Packs) you can exchange 10 (+ some inf) for a converter from the Merit Vendors in most Wentworth auction houses.

It costs just one converter for an "out of set" conversion, which will convert the Defender ATIO into another ATIO (not a Defender one).

It's worth quickly checking prices of the different ATIOs before you try this to get a feel for how valuable a Defender IO is. When I last checked, it was quite low, and only a conversion to a Kheldian, VEAT or Mastermind IO would "lose" me money. With 11 possible ATs to convert to (you can't get a Defender one), you have a 70% chance of making some money out of your converter, and a 9% chance of getting a Scrapper ATIO that you could actually use. If you land a Brute IO conversion, you could sell it on WW and buy 2-3 Scrapper IOs with the proceeds.

It does require a little bit of effort to check out prices though first.

Good luck!

The market supply would have to come from running the summer event, just as it does now. You might get a different group of players running it a lot, but not less players.

In fact depending on the price you might get more players running it if it's perceived as a good way to make some inf.
