I started in i7, so I don't have a lot of the really old ones, but before Lingering Radiation was made resistable I kept wondering why everyone else complained about how hard it was to kill AVs - after all, my Ice/Rad Corruptor didn't have any issues!
I haven't caught myself with Rest in a long time, but I blame that on not using Rest anymore; I've managed to forget the second tram door a couple of times and have used an Ouroboros portal rather than walking around and waiting for the train to come back because it's faster to zone twice than deal with the animation; back when the time badge was still required for Born in Battle I was hanging around in Siren's Call on a Fire/Kin Corruptor, got bored, and decided to duel a Fire/EM Blaster who was in the zone... when I was level 29 and had just outleveled all of my level 25 SO enhancements (the fight didn't go very well). -
You get the highest applicable defense value. Only "base defense" adds to any other form of defense, and then it just totals for that positional vector or typed defense. Very few things actually raise base defense but there are a few powers out there.
As for which one to focus on... usually, whichever one is the easiest to increase or the one that will protect you the most (they're not always the same - for instance, most attacks in the game have either a smashing or lethal component and so that one is really valuable, but Fire/Cold defense is pretty easy to get in abundance). -
And the really silly part is that Dominators get Sleet at the same level that Controllers and Corruptors do.

So... Cremate (Brute/Scrapper port) or Combustion (Tanker port)?
Fiery Melee
1. Scorch
1. Fire Sword
2. Cremate
6. Assassin's Blaze
8. Build Up
12. Placate
18. Fire Sword Circle
26. Incinerate
32. Greater Fire Sword
Fiery Aura
1. Hide
2. Fire Shield
4. Healing Flames
10. Temperature Protection
16. Plasma Shield
20. Consume
28. Burn
35. Fiery Embrace
38. Rise of the Phoenix
In any case, I'm sure that the hangup would be Fiery Aura more than Fiery Melee - Fiery Embrace mean they get to redo every Stalker damaging power to add the damage line item. -
Quote:Kill stuff. A lot. Drain Psyche is nice but you need some form of mitigation or you're still going to die while jumping in and out - whether through set bonuses, inspirations, or simply sufficient burst damage to drop everything before it gets a chance to run through your hit points. Since you're playing Fire Blast, that last one is the only help you're getting from your primary - but as someone who has a level 50 Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster that got there on just SOs, you can usually make that work.
Fire/Mental tips?
If you want to stand at range and fry things, you may find a Fire/Dark, Fire/Cold, or Fire/Storm Corruptor to be more your taste - all of them can debuff the enemies to increase the damage they're doing at varying levels of safety without ever getting near the mobs. Fire/Dark in particular is a fast starter, with Fire/Storm not being too much slower. You'll kill things a little slower, but while you're watching all the little Scourges float over everything's heads from Rain of Scour... Fire, you won't care so much. -
Quote:If you can get it, Coercive Persuasion is a lot nicer than Malaise's Illusions. The proc is really really silly in an AoE.Basilisk Gaze for the holds.
Malaise's Illusions for cone confuse.
Crushing Impacts for the melee hammers.
Kin Crash in the range attack of your choice (both take kb sets iirc).
Expedient Reinforcement in your pet.
All 5 sets have +rch, if that's your thing. About 50% there off the top of my head. You'll need only 20% more and Hasten to have permadom.
Kin Crash also has kb protection at 4 slots to help while domination is off.
Hrm. 2 holds @ 7.5 (15), 3 melee attacks @ 5 (30), 1 pet @ 6.25 (36.25), 1 KB set for giggles (43.75), Seeds @ 6.25/10 (50/53.75), add LotG +7.5% recharge to taste in a few defense pool powers, maybe a Force Feedback +rech in Tremor (the mallets can also take these)... -
Quote:*digs around for an appropriate response*I'm just worried about that DOT but meh with the new changes it might not be an issue.

Quote:Click on the link and it'll open it in Mid's if it's on the computer - no data chunk needed. Or you can pull the data chunk out of the link (hover over it and see if the part that starts with 'dc=' looks familiar).I can't get your build because you didn't post the data chunk, but you could read this guide about thermal slotting to get some ideas.
To OP: Fly is way overslotted - it's self-capped without any flight speed enhancements, and you have it slotted with 3.
Heat Exhaustion and Melt Armor need to hit, slot some Accuracy.
The proc is more useful than the damage in Apoc. Way too many slots in Health and Stamina which could be more useful elsewhere. -
Quote:Or, as has been said repeatedly, just have them con grey and unable to affect anything more than your popularity - which would drop faster when they hit you with a rock due to mob mentality.I think part of the problem is that I imagine flooding you with low damage, vast mobs would be ineffective. Having that many mobs on the map that you could take notable damage would probably crash a lot of peoples computers/video cards. So how do you get these people into the fray? Drinking Enriche, as was brought up earlier, seems like a reasonable way of doing it. Mind and body control in a bottle.

Quote:He sent Arachnos troops to help the Resistance in the low-level Praetorian content. A less active stance is still getting things done without him needing to provide additional help once the heroes get involved, so why not use them?So why hasn't Recluse taken ANY overt action? If he's just offering his verbal support to the cause it doesn't really mean much.
Quote:As I stated, I've NO problem with the Villains coming out on top (and no, the Rikti War Zone missions don't really count because the Rikti are bad news for EVERYONE. It's just like the Praetorians. If they win, everyone, everywhere, loses), but NOT when it's written this way. It feels as though the heroes are forced to fall several steps behind because the writing demands it, rather than for any logical reason. -
As dirty as I feel saying it, I agree with Johnny_Butane. I personally feel that all of the Incarnate trials (as well as Apex/Tin Mage) that we have currently should have been wrapped up as solo/single-team content in a story arc with the only Incarnate part of it being taking on Tyrant after he was retconned out of the mission he appeared in before.
After taking on "godlike" power, we should be fighting "godlike" things. Not something that's getting an empowerment from something that was empowered by someone that was empowered by the the source of our power as well... and yet somehow is still more powerful than us despite all of the dilution. Heck, my EM/Elec Brute has already defeated a god (in Scirocco's patron arc) and handed another Incarnate their head on a silver platter (Recluse), and she did so without 23 other people - or, for that matter, even one extra person - hanging around.
It's not a good sense of progressing power; it is, as has been listed here repeatedly, a sense of horrible regression. This should not be Incarnate content - the Praetorian story could easily have been wrapped up like this without needing to tie into the "endgame". And if this has to be Incarnate content, the civilians should spawn at -50 and be unable to harm anything more than your reputation in the trial. -
Quote:Eventually.Actually, I think as a VIP you're the only type of player who can get every powerset for free.
But you're still spending money to maintain VIP status to get the points, so if (and this is a pretty big if) you don't care about the Incarnate content, Signature Story Arcs, and whatever else VIP status gets you above your Rewards level - which for me is only the two things listed and being able to pay rent on the bases - then you get the token and some points for your subscription fees. So the argument can be made that you're paying for it then. -

My point was that old ET couldn't be "broken beyond belief" because of its DPA if every Stalker is getting something that can perform better, without the chance of killing yourself while using it. In other words, I'm saying that EM didn't really warrant a nerf given that it's in the same boat that all of the Stalker primaries are in - how much AoE does it sacrifice to get single target? Plus, get this, it sacrifices health, too!
Well, the focus on AoE was there but it required padding missions to farm for better rewards (anyone remember getting those requests?) and you couldn't set your difficulty while solo to pad for you. So yes, it was popular for solo and small teams but even then I had already decided to make a new Stone Melee Brute prior to the ET nerf for similar single-target DPS (the old mallet animations had Stone Mallet with higher DPA than Heavy Mallet has now and Heavy Mallet was very close to Seismic Smash, meaning at most levels of recharge the DPS of SM was higher than EM because its entire attack chain was better than anything but ET) with better AoE mitigation and without the self damage. -

Quote:And yet the proposed i22 Stalker changes gives each and every Stalker primary a power that can exceed the DPA of the old Energy Transfer with as few as two stacks of Assassin's Focus (meaning two powers hit in between uses... or essentially each and every attack chain in existence).Energy Transfer had about twice the DPA of Seismic Smash. That means that it was nearly twice as powerful as the second best single target attack in the game at the time, which was already markedly superior to any other such attack. It was broken beyond belief.
As for the pic I posted earlier? I screen-capped it. That's my EM/ElA Brute in one of her old costumes. The subtitle works really well given where that arm punches out to. -
That's not just British slang; depending on the dictionary you check it's often the primary definition.

It is, actually, but you can change the settings and then click "save as default" to replace it.
The filter is also overly aggressive and catches a lot of thing it shouldn't - at least that's the excuse I hear a lot when people start complaining about potty mouths on public channels. I personally don't care about the language and so I change the default chat filter to "off" on each of my computers that CoH is installed on.
Besides, Silver Mantis is just innuendo, not foul language. I mean really, you can use DP to do MoM in CoX but you're worried about NPC dialogue? >.> -
Quote:Too tired to run numbers tonight and I'll be away from the computer for most of the next couple of days, but the question was after the i22 changes, so the out-of-hidden AS would be higher DPA than the hidden one (which is why the question exists).Seeing as how the best DPS chain for Dark Melee is Smite > MG > Smite > SL > Repeat, I dont see why those chains wouldn't work.
as for the rest of it. Opening with Assassin Strike from the hidden state will be the best DPS.
Using Placate + Assassin Strike is also some of the best DPS. In theory. The problem with the theory is that in content where you'd want to make use of this, you're either being hit by many enemies (regular PvE) so Placate isn't helping much (this is also going on the thinking that you're not softcapped), when surrounded by enemies placate the one, then get hit by the other and lose the hidden status.
If you get bored and want to run the numbers, there should be a post by Synapse with the damage scale for post-i22 AS out of hide (I want to say scale 2.76 but could be wrong); it'll have a 1 sec animation before Arcanatime and to convert scale to base damage you just multiply by 55.61 (stalker damage modifier at level 50). -
