Quote:Storm is actually one of the more damage heavy secondary's. Lock a tough mob into a corner and unleash freezing rain, tornado and lightning storm, and watch it melt.I don't claim to be a master build maker, which is why I asked. Lots of times people go for different things in their builds than I do.
I have a Bots/Storm, and it's still pretty low level, but I've played it enough to have some ideas on the /Storm part.
At low levels, Gale is a pretty nice mitigation power. Anything you knock down isn't attacking you or your pets. O2 Boost is a bit weak out of the box, so preventing attacks is a lot better. At higher levels, a knockback cone can still be a nice tool if things are getting too heavy, as long as you're careful about where you knock the mobs off to.
Snow Storm is also helpful at keeping the mobs doing anything but attacking you, but it's expensive. It's also noticeably below the slow movement cap, so enhancing slow will help. I kind of like a little recharge in toggle debuffs, so I can get them back up faster if my anchor dies/I get mezzed, but YMMV. (As well as how much global recharge you shell out for.)
Beyond that, I can't claim much direct experience. But based on the powers, I think /Storm would work better as a 'Controllermind' approach. Debuff and otherwise mess with the mobs, but try to let your pets take the hits, because they're a lot easier to heal. With a knockback cone, a knockdown patch, def buffs for your pets, and tohit debuffs for anything that gets too close, you've got a lot of tools to help keep those hits to a minimum.
Of course, I might be a bit biased. I'm enjoying knocking things down again and again so much that I intend to build around doing it as much as possible.
-Morgan.
Me, I play my bots storm like a tankermind. Get the aggro off your pets, and you never need resummon. Hurricane will deal with most of the incoming damage by making the mobs hit you, at the same time as keeping them angry.
OP: You will definately want to slot all your toggles (Including more than 1 slot in your leadership toggles) for end reduction. Your equip power only needs the one end reduction, you can use the other slot elsewhere. Take hurricane way before 47. Like asap, slot it for end redux first, -tohit second. I would also recomend another patron for a stormie. The nice thing about storm is you can place the mobs wherever you want. The -knockback in elec fences kinda negates that. The def shield in Mace pairs nicely with the -tohit in hurricane. If you need more advice, feel free to pm me. -

Demon Summoning also has a whack of toxic in it.

Quote:So, the only way to have the beer is to give up the dental plan?On the other hand, Quebec has some of the best consumer protection laws on the continent -- I'm not sure that watering down those protections would be worthwhile just so that some people could have a (small) chance at winning some (small) prizes run by companies outside of Canada.

Quote:I always felt sorry for the Quebecers. Even as a little kid reading cereal boxes, I knew you folks were getting the shaft. Maybe you should run for premier and make getting rid of the dumb laws preventing such things your platform. This pretty much sums up my problems with every contest CoH as ever had... Alot of people from Quebec have been gripping/moaning, both on the forums and the CoH Facebook page, about not being elligible, nor being able to participate in anyway, to contests or other similar events...
I've played this game for years, I would love... nay, JUMP on the occasion to leave a permanent mark/imprint on it. So far the closest I've come was reporting an exploit that got removed during the i9 Open Beta. -
Quote:Funny. I've been on pugs where I would wish some tool would just put a power on auto and go afk.I've tried it in other games, and it rarely works very well. Even when it is sort of effective, you'd be better to just find an actual team mate. And yes, I've seen waaaay too many 'auto follow with healing aura on auto' dual boxers. In fact, for a few years it was viewed as required for 'good' teams to have someone do that. Such teams were usually train wrecks, and a defender played by a single person would probably have prevented the train wreck. Or at least lessened the casualties.

Quote:Wow. Its fine that you are against it.The Cap is there for a reason.
I'm against any cap increase.
If you are too lazy to figure a way around it, then there is no reason to increase it.
All an influence cap increase would do would be to allow inflation on high price items. There is no reason for it other than sheer greed.
If you are that greedy, find away around it.
The rest of us are fine. 90% of the players will probably never hit the 2 bil cap on a character.
I'm pretty sure Smurfy has already figured a way around it.
All an influence cap increase would do would be to allow people with more than 2 billion influence spend it easier on high price items. There is no other reason for it than sheer convenience. You know, a QOL thing, one of many that the devs have introduced into the game, such as allowing people to trade more than 99999 influence at a pop.
You don't speak for me. Please don't assume you do. Thank you.
Food for thought:
If the influence cap is increased, it will help curb the off market trading. It will also help remove more influence from the game in market fees. Some will do it just from trust issues. -
Redside always has tons of blank histories.

Quote:They are going to be released with GR, not with I17.The GR website makes mention of two new powersets other than Dual Pistol and Demon Summoning. Any idea when Electric Control and Kinetic Melee will be released? (Hopefully with I-17).
If not with the expansion, then can we have some more info on the various abilities of each powerset?
Personally, I think we were lucky to get the early releases of DP and DS... -
Does anyone know if there is one?
Thanks! -
Quote:Some folks like the feel of all the cash under the pillow. Some folks can't be bothered to market. Some folks already have a nest egg, and are confident they can mutiply it whenever the mood strikes. Some folks dont want to pay attention to the ebbs and floes and react in a rush because they are about to loose everything on a small change to an IO from the Devs. But there's no point to having massive amount of liquid cash just sitting around doing nothing.
Any of you big boys out there care to give your opinion of Filthy versus Obscenely rich? Smurphy? Bronx still around? And what about PvP Farmers. Anyone who got into purples early is probably rolling in it now. Mac?
Hell, I would be willing to invest in someone willing to watch the market constantly and give me a great return on my investment. Course it would have to start off small, but I could easily imagine it ramping up to the billions pretty quickly. Of course, as there are no laws here in this little sandbox, that someone would have to be very trustworthy... -
Just double checked. It is still at 999,999,999.00 so max as email is 19,999,999,990.00 Plus 20 items which if it is the glad proc, could top out at over 5 billion an email.

Quote:Well... looks like I need to up my dfficulty a bit, mind you I am sitting at 39 on my Bots/Storm. I run at +2/5, and have to respawn a bot once a mish. Maybe. Hurricane is great for keeping the mobs pissed at me. I do agree it would be nice to have both options. Not directed at me, but I'm in a similar position to the person this was asked to. I run at +2/x8 for most content on my bots/storm. It is very rare that I'll lose more than one pet at a time, but invariably one will wander out of my buffs range while I'm jumping around hurricaning everything and it will splat. Not every fight mind you, but a few times a mission
As a storm spamming efences+nado+LS all the time my endurance bar can't handle rebuffing that pet. Granted I'm usually running ninja run for the fast movement w/ hurricane which doesn't help, but it is faster than cj+hurdle and only the best will do. The only time I'll make the effort to rebuff is if it was Crushinator that drops (assault bot). Unless I have some blues drop which admittedly insps rain down on that setting, but I combine them all into reds to feed Crushinator so it can kill entire spawns in seconds...
Basically, life is tough on this toon that is easily solo'ing AV's, cakewalked the +4 RWZ challenge and solo's missions on +2/8 with little personal risk and I want it to be a little bit easier when I lose a pet...
All kidding aside, the suggestion of a variable cost aoe buff made earlier would be ideal for all MM's in all scenarios across all levels and would really put the finishing touches on the AT.
Just like it would be nice to turn all the aoe's on my spines/fire scrapper into harder hitting/less endurance cost single target attacks when I am fighting an +4 EB... Nice, but not very realistic is it?
If we have to pause a bit every couple of spawns to resummon and equip a pet, it only slows down the steamroll so much... even then, not by much. -

If you are on Vista or Windows 7, Right click on the downloaded mids icon and "Run as Administrator"

What settings are you at that you drop a pet every spawn?

Quote:I think the enhancement lists are a better example of how things were not fully thought through. Then when asked about it, it almost seems as though a certain Dev made a reason up on the spot.Enhancement lists are irrelevant since they're used for a completely different purpose.
Think about it, how incredibly annoying would it be to scroll through the list if every main zone popped up? And how often would someone accidentally click on the wrong zone in haste while on a TF or whatnot (even though that still happens even with the current set-up)?
I'm not saying that the PTA system is perfect, because it's fairly clumsy as it is, but it could be a lot worse. I tend to think it was designed to limit congestion and in that respect, it's doing a pretty good job.
As for the transit system, I doubt they thought at any time, "Oh, we want to limit the congestion at the stations... lets not add Founders Falls to the list, and we might as well keep the lower level zones on their own lines... That'll do it!" Of course, I could be wrong. But Jack seemed more of a "This is how I want them to play" kinda GM... -
Are you running Windows 7? Try right clicking and run as Admin.

Quote:Might be hard to accept, however, Geco was the one who said they intended for teams to street sweep between mish's. I extrapolated the relation to the tram lines because it seemed a logical extension of their design philosophy at the time.I have a hard time accepting this at all, CoX is not the first MMO by far and all other games have experienced this after being online for a period of time, and of course there is a segment of every games population that has no clue about the games lore and just levels.
Funny, he always insisted I call him Andy when I was buying him beers at the pheonix... -
Quote:I agree with you, however, would like to ask, how many times did you take a low lvl mish in Steel that sent you right to the lvl 14 nazi's?I have the impression that the segregation of the green and yellow lines was partly intended to tend to segregate lower-level players from the higher-level zones. You could still get to the higher-level zones, sure, but generally it was more trouble, and it was unlikely to happen by accident.
Steel, the mid-level zone, was where they met (no green line in Skyway yet).
That was probably part of the thought process. I just dont think it was fully thought out. Of course, that is me saying this here, where hindsight is 20/20...
Robert_B, Sorry for the thread jack. BTW, looks like you got some Andy Frost on your avatar.
