Most of my characters are built purely from an RP perspective and I keep getting told to 'tone it down'

Right, Weasel, it's your mission, should you accept it, to lure Stase into the bar on Friday night (or Saurday, depending on when you guys arrive and how you feel), to allow for Zortel to capture and hug her. After which we shall all have beer (or ale, wine, cider etc etc)!
I guarantee you will get Stasis back, unharmed, just hugged a lot.

Remember, the dangers of DMHO are real and inhalation has been proven to be fatal in most cases.
Especially when you realise that DMHO's regular formulae is H20. *grins* I can't take credit for this as it was originally done by Nathan Zohner, a 14-year-old student at Eagle Rock Junior High School in Idaho Falls in 1997, but full credit to producing something so factual (All the above claims are true if you think on them) yet amusing. Hence posting it in Creative.
The British Government has already set up a Regulatory System to prevent overuse of DHMO, so be careful if travelling abroad. -
AFAIK, the study was done during his Presidency; but the effects were significantly noted both before and after; so it's not a direct result of anything he's done.

True, but even in that case, a recent study has found that over 95% of American School children under the age of 13 have a significant amount of DHMO in their bloodstream, and the figures show little chance of it stopping in the near future.

BAN DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE!
Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.
Dihydrogen monoxide:
* is also known as hydroxl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
* contributes to the "greenhouse effect."
* may cause severe burns.
* contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
* accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
* may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
Contamination is reaching epidemic proportions!
Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage in the midwest, and recently California.
Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
* as an industrial solvent and coolant.
* in nuclear power plants.
* in the production of styrofoam.
* as a fire retardant.
* in many forms of cruel animal research.
* in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
* as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.
Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer!
The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use. -

Increased Defence and no real loss in Blasting -
Difficult one, personally I'd refer you to the Tankers SS/Inv guides but put emphasis on Acc for attacks. I know my Inv/SS Tank is very tough in PvP on a PvE build, but I'd really wait to I7 where your armour can't be toggle dropped so easily.
One thing to remember is that Tanks usually lead with the big hitters (KO Blow, Haymaker); whilst a Brute would be better equipped to throw Jab, Jab, Jab, Haymaker for full use of Fury.
As for the other questions, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take Invince as it's the best power in the set, bar none.
Tough Hide's only useful if you want MAX defence, with Rad/Dark nerf it might no longer be necessary. Invinciblity's latest change is that it now stacks a lot more on the first critter than the rest.
Roughly I think 10% on first, +5% on second, and so on reducing each time, so even against 1 it's worth it.
You might also want to look into HandClap as it's use in PvP is MUCH greater with the ragdoll physics and increased KB. Considering one clap will stun most blappers, it's liable to be very useful.

There 'might' be a use for it if you're playing a Blapper without any serious Blapping Secondaries, like Devices, as it does provide KB.
But realistically, no. -

My constructs are only a few years old, so they're understanding of 'humanity' is often limited solely to their areas of expertise. (Dr. Luke can dissect/autopsy any human body, but can't tell you what the organs are actually for.) -
Two points from someone not there.
1) Rude and obnoxious characters can be very fun to play; but it's always a good idea to make sure that you let people know that's their character, NEVER aim a barb at the players and give them a reason to be rude and an actual 'use' for them.
One of my vampire characters was the most vile character ever, but he was a psychopathic buffoon and was slaughtered after he tried to sell someone out. In the mean time though, he created a lot of plot for other people, and so is generally remembered as a 'good character'.
2) "I am a good RPer, I have done it for a long time and I know how it works, like I said grant respect it shall be given."
This is a VERY dangerous statement to make. I've RP'ed for nearly 20 years now and I'm still not at my best. If you're a newcomer to any group you have to find out how they play first. Respect will come, it is never to be taken. -
